I can’t imagine ever convincing myself to pay $ 17 for a burrito again. While the food here is fine and the margaritas are even better, the prices are completely absurd. However, it is a trendy spot in Baton Rouge and they know that they can get away with charging almost whatever they want. If you want americanized mexican, you’re better off going to Velvet Cactus.

I recently moved to BR from Texas, and I was incredibly skeptical when my coworkers suggested a good Tex-Mex place, since naturally I am quite the Tex-Mex snob. Their chips are very light and crispy, salsa has good flavor(although I prefer a bit more kick to salsa). The margeritas are extremely stout– tastes like vodka on the back end? Anyway don’t order a large unless you have a DD. Kinda pricey but they do have reasonable options. The brisket enchiladas I had were fantastic! Their ranchero sauce is actually better than most places in Texas, and the Spanish rice was delicious! Atmosphere was great, with a live band on Saturday night. Excellent and attentive service! I am lactose intolerant so I asked for no cheese on my enchilada, but the server asked me to elaborate, and when I explained why she brought me a plate with no dairy at all– she even had the sour cream taken off, and I really appreciated that. Definitely a staple for anyone who loves Tex-Mex!

Mouth watering Tex-Mex, live music, and put you on your ass margaritas. What more do you want? This has been my second time coming to Superior and it’s never a dull moment. Parking sucks, yes, however it’s worth the adventure. Upon entering the restaurant you might get smacked with a crowd of people. Do not worry! Even when you approach the hostess and she tells you it’ll be a one hour wait. Just politely decline and scope out the bar area. Someone is always leaving(at least in my experience). Every visit comes with complimentary chips and salsa. Although the salsa is kinda blahh in my opinion. Happy hour is where you’ll get the most bang for your buck though. That’s bc the drinks can be kinda pricey!

Nothing like the original in New Orleans and a lot of attitude from the hostess. Also, nothing to celebrate Cinco De Mayo and nachos are charged by the chip! Thank God the bartenders are awesome.

Not Mexican food at all. Well not go back, gave it a second chance. Starting of with the guac, got the freshly made one and no flavor at all, no salt, no spice, just blah. The chips ate not fresh either, taken from a bag. The melted cheese was ok. The tortilla soup had no flavor either. I ordered the superior enchiladas and the so called steak tasted like liver. No good. The red enchilada sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce, no flavor, no spice. The rice that came with the soup and enchiladas were cold and so were the beans. We waited over 30 minutes to have our order taken and to get our meal. The service was so so. Would not recommend to go there. I tried to find at least once good thing about it but could not find anything.

Great mexican food, specially anything seafood. Best frozen margaritas I’ve found, ever. Tastes good and strong as hell. Happy hour is the best time to go, BOGOF.

Ok to the start the food is good it’s above average so then why did I give it three stars? Because it’s way over priced for what you get. I ordered the fish tacos which was $ 15 That was for two fish tacos and some rice. The tacos were good not great but not worth the money.

I ate at Superior on Sunday after I got off of work. We had a few friends that gathered there for food and drinks. I don’t usually have a problem with added gratuity but after I got my bill, it was obvious that the policy was being abused. We had several drinks, appetizers, and entrees. My bill before gratuity was over $ 160 and after, it was close to $ 200. My water was never refilled, and our server never asked if we wanted or needed anything.

DONOTEATHERE. Bad. I cannot say it any clearer. This was by far and away the worst experience I have had in a restaurant in years. I have eaten at Superior Grill in Birmingham many times and the Baton Rouge location 3 times now. Baton Rouge must not be the same owners! The first time was mediocre at best. The second, 2 months ago, was disappointing. This time was terrible. I will never return. My fajitas came out cold, 1(yeas one!) strip of uncooked green pepper and a pile of onions with what looked like a boiled and sliced chicken breast. No spices, no caramelization, no signs of anything except a boiled chicken breast. All for only $ 20! I sent it back with specific instructions to NOT put this mess on a hot plate and send it back. Guess what! They tried it. Sent it back, cancelled my order and waited for my wife to finish her meal($ 16 for 2 enchiladas drowning in canned sauce). Spoke to the floor manager who acknowledged the meal was improperly prepared and walked away without even an apology. Extremely overpriced, low quality food, with no presentation or preparation skills. Poor, bad attitude, uncaring wait staff and manager. DONOTEATHERE. There are better options in Baton Rouge.

They offer a Lenten menu too. I eat here often. The food is good. It can get loud in the dining area if all tables are used. That makes it festive but harder to communicate if sitting at a table with a large group. This time I stopped with a friend after work on a Thursday. It was not as packed and crowded as I’ve seen happy hour on past Thursdays. But a nice crowd. So… This is really a review for happy hour. There’s a band on Thursdays and this one was fun. Lots of people in the large covered patio area. I like being at the bar inside and the way it is set up with row of Bartop tables parallel with long bar. Feels friendlier. The frozen margarita is just as strong as it always has been. Everclear?! Pace yourself with the two for one special. Bartenders are nice. Service is good. Lots of variety in dishes offered. It’s one of my go-to spot for drinks and food in the area.

My son and I ate here this afternoon, while the service was good, the food was awful! I had fajitas with the Mesquite flank steak, it was not sliced, it was so stringy that my knife wouldn’t cut it. The meat was tasteless other than the strong grilled flavor which gave it this weird bitter taste. For $ 13.50 I expect a superior meal. I truly have tasted better at Taco Bell! My son had a burrito for $ 9.50 and he said about the same thing I did, tasteless! I WILLNEVER eat here again.

15 dollar margaritas of various flavors, worth every penny. Quick to-go service, one or two drinks will last your average person an entire evening.

No draft beer? No Mexican hot sauce? Seriously though, what kind of Mexican restaurant is this? The food was OK at best and the only good quality was the service was OK. Very disappointed in this restaurant. There are many Mexican joints so much better WITHDRAFTBEER…

Great service from the wait staff. Our server, whose name was also Regina was excellent. Sweet personality and on point with customer service. Glasses refilled and always came back to check and see how the table was doing. The restaurant had a nice décor that seemed inviting. The food was ok, not a lot of meat on the brisket taco, but what I did have was flavorful, I just wish that I had more of it. The refried beans and rice that came with the meal was good. The bill was high compared to other places, but that’s the cost of business.

I am so disappointed in today’s lunch fajitas at Superior Grill. The last time I was here the fajitas were flavorful, sizzling and delicious. Not so today. I had lunch with beloved Mother in Law and her assessment was dead on. She said«It’s OK, but it isn’t any better than a frozen Mexican TV dinner I could microwave at home for 1⁄3 of the price.» Sadly she was right, My lunch fajitas were 11.95 and basically cooked in one huge batch and put into bins with one guy standing there putting steam-table quality fajitas on the plate with wilted onions and exactly TWO bell pepper rings. You also get 1 Tablespoon each of guacamole, sour cream and pico and 3 tortillas. and rice and beans. The meat had absolutely no flavor and oddly enough neither did the onions or the peppers. I was so disappointed because it was SO very good the last time I was there. Laura was our server and was very sweet and iced tea refills were prompt. However, it was WAY not worth it in terms of taste, quality or portion size. It was half the size, 30% higher priced and no where near the flavor or quality of my last visit. This explains why it was half-empty at 12:15 at the height of lunch hour. Not worth it at half the price and WAYWAY not worth it at what we paid today. We could have had better food at a Taco Bell for 1⁄3 the price and twice the food and flavor. I am heartbroken remembering how good it used to be.

Superior Grill is one of the areas fancier Mexican restaurants. Bring your appetite and bring your wallet. The prices are substantially higher here for entrees. The fajita dinner here is pretty good. This place is usually always packed and is a popular go-to spot for the college crowds. It can get pretty busy in here resulting in slightly longer wait times for the food to come out. Overall the experience which is Superior Grill doesn’t look like it will dwindle down its magic factor anytime soon. Like I said this place stays pretty packed.

First and foremost let me say that I am not a huge fan of Mexican food. However, I do go to Superior Grill often. Superior grill is a nice little Americanized ish Mexican restaurant in the lical Baton Rouge that is popular for its food, drinks and local performances. The ambience is very friendly and to be honest the service is superb. The servers are(so far) very nice and very accomadating. The complimentary chips and salsa here are some of my favorite in town! Be careful though its really easy to fill up on these without even getting an appetizer. Speaking of appetizers the ceviche here is one of the best that I have had. This ceviche consists of some fish light onion and tomatoe mix with lime. The chip that comes on the outside is like a nice flaky crunchy thick chip that goes great with the ceviche. I usually get the fajitas here and the quality is quite good with nice steak, shrimp, chicken and lots of other condiments to go with your fajitas. Sour cream, Guacamole, Onions and Bell peppers all go very well with the fajitas. The only drawback about Superior Grill in my opinion is that it is a bit pricey. However, the food is still great and you should definitely give it a try if you haven’t yet! Great food and great service! PEACE

Ok we’ve been here 100s of times over 20 years food quality is starting to diminish Seems as if focus is on atmosphere more and less on «Superior» food!

I really liked the spinach quesadillas appetizer. The margaritas were pretty good but I wouldn’t recommend paying extra for the top shelf tequila. I’m from Houston where there is lots of great Mexican restaurants. This is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in Baton Rouge. Somewhat hesitant to try other Mexican restaurants here though since I have such high expectations. I really loved the atmosphere too.
