I love this place. Everything tastes so fresh. I love all their pizzas. Pasta al la vodka is my favorite also. Great lunch deals also.

First time coming to this restaurant. After looking over the menu, I found a couple of appetizers that sounded good. When I went to order, I was informed that the fryer was broken. This completely threw off my order. I ended up ordering the garlic knots with pepperoni and cheese. This sounded better than it actually tasted. It was too heavy on the garlic and lacked any other prominent flavors. Honestly, the meal would’ve been better without it. My wife and I ordered pizza by the slice to try a variety of flavors. I got the Hawaiian and buffalo chicken pizza. The buffalo chicken was good, but the Hawaiian was soggy and the crust was falling apart. Wouldn’t recommend it. My wife ordered the margarita pizza and pepperoni. The margarita was bland and didn’t leave much of an impression. In fact, I was going to order a slice of this flavor as well but was told there was only one slice left… At a pizza restaurant I didn’t think running out of pizza would be an issue??? If it wasn’t for the good flavor of the pepperoni pizza, I would’ve given this place an even lower rating.

I’ve seen a lot of reviews on here with people confused about the seating — it’s in the name of the place. NY pizzerias you seat yourself. Being from NY — I just walked in — ordered at the counter and then sat down. That’s what you do. They should put a sign out since they are not in NY. The baked ziti and bagel knots are awesome! I also like their«forget about it» pizza slice — has feta, diced tomatoes, and also lots of yummy stuff”. Their vodka sauce is also very tasty. Their calamari was better when they used the whole little squid but they changed it to the circled ones. They are 2⁄5 stars now . Was a 4⁄5 before they changed.

Usually our go to pizza place in the Kingstowne area. However, after being regular customers since the location opened, the manager just lost our business for life. About a month ago my wife and I ordered chicken parmigiana and a sausage penne pasta dish for delivery. Upon arrival, the chicken was fine, but the pasta was entirely wrong. Johnny’s sent a dish that was just penne in sauce. Fine, no big deal, mistakes happen. I called Johnny’s to let them know and have them credit our card. The manager said that wasn’t possible but he would add a note to our account to credit us with a free order of that pasta — a $ 12 dish — the next time we ordered. I said that was fine and believed we had settled the issue. Flash forward to tonight. We get the hankering for the chicken parmigiana and the pasta again. I call up, order the chicken and then ask for the pasta that was credited on our account. The first person I spoke to said I would to need to speak with the manager. The manager jumps on the line and proceeds to tell me that they don’t have any credit recorded on our record on their system and he couldn’t credit the pasta on our order. He did offer to give me a $ 7 discount, but essentially implied that he couldn’t take me at my word. Look, let’s be clear here, I could really care less about the $ 5 that I would have paid if I accepted his offer. In fact, if they had never made the mistake in the first place, I would have paid the full price. But here’s the rub — he can tell by my record that I’m a regular and would have likely recognized me if I had walked in like I have many times to make an order. Instead, he decided that he would not take a regular customer at their word or accept that they perhaps compounded their initial mistake by not noting the credit in the system. For me, this is now a matter of principle. In the service industry the customer is always right — especially a regular customer. The manager made a choice that sent one message to me — he thought it was more likely I was lying rather than he made a mistake. So for a $ 12 dish, he has now lost all future potential profit from a regular’s order.

Great pizza and great ambiance, despite what«server» issues others have had, I go there for the pizza and love the NY attitude I get with it. If you’re from NY, you feel at home, if you’re not, well you won’t understand.

The food is some of the best around. The problem is the service. Because we love the food so much, we go often, so this review is based on several experiences and not just one. I’m not sure if it is a wait to be seated or seat yourself establishment. Sometimes there is someone there to seat you, however, you are treated not as a valued customer, but rather an inconvenience. We usually are ignored, however, and have to seat ourselves. Most of the staff never bothers to write down your order. The staff will repeat it back to you, which leads you to believe they may actually get it right for once, but that never happens. For example, last night we ordered a Caesar salad without the olives and tomatoes and somewhere within the 5 minutes that it took the waitress to repeat our order back to us and deliver the salad to our table, she completely forgot our request and then looked completely confused by our disappointment. There is a soda machine in the dining area and I wish it were for customer use since we are never given drink refills unless we specifically request one. Common sense doesn’t exist here. While we were seated, another waitress reported for her shift, entered the restaurant, and left the door wide open in 19-degree weather. Thankfully, the customer closest to the door had the common sense that she didn’t and got up and closed the door for her. Another example of no common sense was when we told our waitress that our 4-year old child would like the cheese ravioli. Rather than bringing the kids cheese ravioli, the waitress brought an adult entrée. Realizing her mistake, she asked if we still wanted the adult ravioli. Excellent customer service would suggest that she charge us for the kid menu size. Instead, and even though it was her mistake, she said it would be at the greater adult price of $ 8 more. The worst of our experiences at Johnny’s New York Style Pizzeria was when our waitress returned with our receipt and stood at the table waiting while we filled out the tip and signed. I have never had a waiter or waitress stand at the table and wait for the receipt. If that ever happens again, I plan on writing«cash» in the tip section and leaving without tipping. PLEASE Johnny’s — train your wait staff before hiring! We love your food and would be weekly customers if your staff had any customer service skills whatsoever.

Poor customer service from the owner Johnny. Wife and I were consistent customers for months and tolerated the poor service because we liked the buffalo chicken pizza during peak hours(off hours you get reheated old pizza). To be fair, some of the staff is awesome but most were not. The pasta and garlic rolls were not good. We were called obscene names by the fat guy once. Ordered takeout today and did not get what we ordered. When I called to explain Johnny treated me like a thief and liar. Then he challenged and threatened me. When I arrived angry and showed him the bad pizza, he changed his tone and offered to replace the pizza. We took the refund and won’t be going back.

Pizza is good here. Mango Chicken is always a favorite of mine. You guys do very well, just wish the setting had that NYC feel. After all this time since the interior change, I’m not going for it. It’s nice but it misses the Johnny touch.

I only go here for the cheesesteaks because they are the best in town. The spicy cheesesteak is literally what makes me drive from woodbridge(13miles away) because its THAT worth it. Of course they offer a chicken cheesesteak and ya know what? Thats pretty bomb too. Had the pizza once before and its not bad. Cant really say much about it but you can get em by the slice or indulge in a whole pie. They also have beer on tap so grab a pint while youre waiting for your food.

The pizza is amazing(so are the garlic knots)! I came here on a Friday night for date night and got a Sicilian with pepp. and xtra cheese and it was to die for. Great atmosphere, even considering how PACKED and BUSY it was. The staff were having fun and enjoying talking with customers. You can tell there are some passionate folks working in the kitchen. I left a great tip(if I’d had cash on me I’d have filled their tip jar… but it was already pretty full to be honest!) because the food was so good. I won’t be ordering from Dominos anymore!

Not sure why people eat here. Prices are high for average pizza with below average service. Many other pizza options are out there. Firenza a fast casual $ 7.99 pizza place is coming to replace Jerrys pizza so this place is going to feel some pain soon!

Some of my favorite pizza in the area. You can get them by the slice too! The décor got redone so it’s not as casual looking and they have waiter service now. I kinda liked how it was before but the pizza is still great and can’t complain much.

Okay that’s it. I’ve seriously had it with this place. I have given it so many chances to redeem itself but between the low quality food and the abysmal service, I CANNOT. We came in on Saturday evening with my 2 and 4 year old, to zero acknowledgement from the staff. If you’re not going to say anything to us, at least have a sign that says«Please Seat Yourself». Or say SOMETHING. Jeez. They don’t hand you menus. Apparently you’re just supposed to know to grab the old, paper menus stuffed into the salt shaker section. Wow. Some waiter eventually shuffles up and mumbles something under his breath. My bf is overly-forgiving to rude service and was attempting to accommodate this terrible service all night, but literally, neither of us could understand him(he spoke English). I ordered the eggplant rollatini, he ordered the lasagna and cheese pizza for the kids. As I have stated before, the pizza here is good. It’s not amazing. But it’s good. So that I will not slight them on. I asked for a light dressing, he brings out a full fat creamy italian. They give plastic coffee cups to my kids as their kids drink and sure enough within 5 minutes, my son had dropped his on the floor and milk spills everywhere. Literally every staff member at the restaurant stood around just staring at the spill on the floor. About 4 minutes into me GETTINGONTHEGROUNDWIPINGUPTHEMESS, some younger server finally comes up and says something about someone getting a mop. By then I’ve already cleaned up the mess. Our server comes over another 5 minutes later with a dry mop to clean up a non-existent mess at this point. What a bunch of slapdicks. Our food comes out. My eggplant rolatini is 89% low-quality riccotta cheese, 6% eggplant, 4% red sauce, and 1% motz. It was basically inedible. The lasagna was meh and the house salad served with my eggplant was 97% iceburg lettuce. I haven’t been served a more pitiful house salad in my life. I noticed they had made some aesthetic changes to the interior; waterfalls and changing-colored lights on the wall with some sort of a retro-inspired wall and lighting fixtures. How bizarre for a small, family-style Italian restaurant. Something is not right at this place and were it not for the terrible service, I’d actually stomach returning for the pizza and because it is close to our house, but never again after this last visit. Never again.

This place was pretty cool. The pizza is a little«saucey» for me, but it was good pizza. What is really awesome is the by-the-slice selection they have behind the glass. If you just want a quick slice, this place is perfect. You can just walk in and ask for whatever you want, then grab a spot and eat it. Alternatively, you can sit in a booth or table and a waiter or waitress will come take care of you. So perfect for both patient and impatient folks, alike. We ordered the Johnny’s Deluxe… it was pretty good… only complaint is, again, the sauciness, and the vegetables were cut pretty big. The bread is ok, nothing to write home about, but definitely freshly made. In my opinion, this place is fantastic for a quick bite, pizza is good. Not earth-shatteringly great, but good. And from what I hear, consistent. Which is also important.

This place has some insanely delicious pizza. This actually does taste like pizza from NY so I am happy as hell with this place. They have some crazy pizza’s to choose from though. I had the baked ziti pizza which was delicious and very, very filling. The plain cheese is freaking awesome, they crazy pizza like chicken alfredo, buffalo chicken, etc. The cannoli are also really good here. They offer other food as well like most pizza joints do. The garlic knots are really damn good as almost everyone has mentioned. I just love the pizza though. If you are in the area and want some authentic NY style, this is the place!

Oh Johnny’s New York Style Pizza! So, I’ve been here now several times and I’ve tried several different slices from their beautiful selection of pizza combinations and I am a fan of this place. Let’s start with the food: I’ve had a regular cheese slice, pepperoni, chicken Alfredo, buffalo chicken, Philly cheesesteak, Hawaiian, and of course meat lovers. They have all been fresh, robust, and overall great tasting; however, my favorites have been the chicken Alfredo, cheese, and Philly cheesesteak. Their Garlic knots are also fresh with great texture and seasoning. MUSTTRYTHEMARINARASAUCE! If you just order a couple they will not automatically give you marinara sauce so you either have to ask for it or order the bundle with 6 knots and the marinara sauce. The staff has been good and the overall ambiance is great for a pizza place. I’m giving them a 4 out of 5 stars because an employee was having a rather loud inappropriate conversation within earshot of my young daughter but it didn’t seem malicious but more so he was unaware of his audience. Besides this isolated incident I would recommend this place to all the Pizza Lovers!!!

Like an ancient traveler trekking through Tibet in the quest of enlightenment, I have searched the furthest reaches of the world – ok, NOVA at the very least – for the perfect pizza. There have been many contenders and many pretenders, but none compares to Johnny’s crisp crust and savory toppings. There is really something to be said for New York style, for Johnny’s serves up the perfect pizza every time. And my favorite part, Pizza Pals and Gals, they serve it by the slice which allows you to load up your pizza box with three, maybe even four varieties of pizza goodness. They have pizza by the slice, all different varieties, such as a yummy white pizza, a succulent chicken BBQ, a delicious Hawaiian, and my go to a mind-blowing Margarita. I don’t know any pizzeria that has so many options as Johnny’s, for besides the ones I have already mentioned, you can seek pizza nirvana in a slice of Chicken alla Vodka or Grilled Chicken Chili Mango. My quest for the perfect pizza has involved the sampling of quite a few slices from around the world, and each slice has lead me back to Johnny’s. It was Blake who said, ««The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.» I am pretty sure that he was talking about pizza, and that place of pizza wisdom waiting for you at Johnny’s New York Style Pizzeria.
