The sundae is still as good. The mains will depend on what you order. Go before 12pm and the food seems to taste less mass produced. I ordered the chicken in a basket and it took a while but when the food arrived, everything was fresh and hot. Fries were crispy. The fried chicken was so hot I had to use the fork to tear the chicken apart. I loved that the 3 pieces of chicken were dark meat(thigh, chicken wing and drumstick) as they were much juicier. The default sauce was tartar but ketchup and chili sauce were also available. Each table was given a small water jug so the servers could concentrate on taking orders and serving food, and customers would not be frustrated trying to flag down a waiter for more water. Then the ice cream. So delicious! This is now my go to place when I want ice cream after fried chicken.

Several of my favorite childhood memories include Swensen’s. I grew up in a small Texas town and thoughts of the Cable Car Kids Meal and mint chocolate chip ice cream just warm my heart. I was shocked and excited when I saw that Swensen’s existed in Singapore! My husband was kind enough to appease me and take me there for lunch. There was a valuable lesson learned during that lunch… some memories should stay in the past. Swensen’s is not even close to how I remembered it. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The chicken was fatty and all dark meat. Yuck! They thousand island dressing was mediocre at best. My husband had a hamburger. He said his was mediocre as well. The one redeeming piece of his meal were his fries. I did try one. They were good. When it came time to order dessert, we walked around their impressive selection. I saw frozen yogurt on the menu. It was available with one or two mix ins. I asked if I could have candy as a mix in rather than fruit. They said, «No, only fruit.» I ended up forgoing dessert all together. It makes me sad because it was so good years ago. Needless to say, we will not be back.

I love Swensen’s but only discovered this one on my last day in Singapore. I love the food, there’s burgers, pasta, rice dishes. Awesome deserts but what I like most about this Swensens is the unlimited desert buffet(which I didn’t try this time around). I had a look, so many ice creams, chocolate fountains, cakes, waffles to name a few. Service was ok, a little slow but they were busy. I’m fussy and thankfully they got my order right. I had to ask twice for ketchup though but other than that I don’t have any issues with service or the staff. Price wise its average for that type of place. You’re better off going during the week for lunch as the desert bar is cheaper and they have special offers. I’ll be sure to go to this particular Swensens when I go back.
