This season, the usual chocolate Mudpie undergoes a festive makeover to assume a refreshingly light character with strawberry sorbet, honey parfait ice cream and almond nibs, mint flavored Italian meringue called Jolly Mud Pie($ 12.20++). The Joy($ 9++) also marks another joyous but short-lived moment where the Grand Marnier Parfait, raspberry sorbet, barely supported by an almond nibs base, disintegrates rapidly under the heat. It’s delicate and fruity, though the Grand Marnier was drowned by the sugar. One of the three new Yule log cakes dished out this year is the White Lychee Christmas, an orange flavored traditional Swiss roll swirled with sweet raspberry jam and a rose essence cream at the centre. It sounded like an inspiration from Pierre Herme’s Ispahan but did not quite captivate the senses, with a too-buttery lychee emulsion frosting and timid floral notes. Stick to the classical Chocolate Wonderland for a more playful textural contrast between the crunchy praline and savoury dense cream cheese body. Instead of the triple Christmas Edition macarons that crack like egg shells, the assorted butter cookies may work better as gifts. There are the rustic Oat & Raisins($ 13.50/jar) and vanilla-coco hybrid Checkerboard Cookies($ 18/jar) but the cream of the crop is none other than the humble Sables($ 17.80/jar) cookies. Delicately light and buttery, they are irrevocably the best discovered gems at Coffee Club.

This location is really great. It’s on the corner with 2 exposed sides and looks like good coverage during the downpours. One side even gets the big screen’s footage and audio from the complex across the street. The space looks welcoming and feels laidback with neat decent chairs. I was really debating on whether or not to get food so I figured at least getting some coffee is good, so I get a hazelnut latte. It was pretty good, not too sweet, presented really neat with layers evident in the glass mug(I don’t think you’d see that in Seattle) and also this cute lil tasty biscuit tagged along. The waitress that morning was a nice gal, if a bit soft-spoken but seemed like she’d just woken up or looked bored — which is totally cool when you’re _not_serving a customer and it’s super slow or empty in there. The Wi-Fi was great. At first it didn’t seem to work for some reason, though, so I think she had them reset it then it was ok. It’s also a cool place to people watch the sidewalk.

Coffee Club in Wheelock Place took over the old Coffee Bean. I wish they had kept it as a Coffee Bean as I am really not a fan of the Coffee Club. It used to be a nice place to chill and people watch on Orchard, but since they changed to the Coffee Club, Ive probably only been once. Food here is not that great. Overprice and not worth it. Coffee is decent enough, but Id rather walk a few more steps to the Starbucks next door.

The reason why I love The Coffee Club is because it is always a great place to chill with your friends after a dinner. There are a large varieties of food to choose from, ranging from appetizers, sides(if you feel that you don’t have a filling dinner, order their Potato Wedges with cheese) to their dessert. I usually come to The Coffee Club with 2 of my best friends. We are totally a fan of their mud pie. One of my favourite desserts of all, it comes with 2 layers of ice cream, chocolate and coffee flavour. I particularly love this Coffee Club is because it is pretty cozy out here. It is an outdoor concept, just like the one in located near Cineleisure. The only negative part of The Coffee Club is that there really seems to be a lack of staffs. Whenever we requested something, it took really long for them to serve you. Even to the point where they forgot about your request. But still, their mud pie really attract me to the café

I come to this Coffee Club more than others as I love it’s location. It has an outdoor feel — so you can drink your coffee/tea and people-watch. It’s not always crowded — but there can be times when there is a line and you might have to wait quite a bit. What I Love: Their Rambutan Freeze! I always have it here! I’ve looked through their food menu and their stuff looks interesting — but I tend to usually come there after dinner — when I need a drink — and I enjoy a Rambutan Freeze and maybe a slice of cake. Their Lychee Mint tea is also pretty yummy. Their Chocolate stuff, as yummy as it looks, seems kinda sweet — so I stick to the fruity stuff mostly. What I Don’t Love: The last time I was here — the place seemed to be understaffed — but they generally do get around. Sometimes, you just have to wait for a few minutes.
