This was my second visit to Badoque but my first to the Simpang Bedok outlet. The last time over at Upp Thomson was a much better experience. Probably because at that time, the menu was more diverse and more appealing. I wasn’t allay thrilled with this new menu. One thing that didn’t change, thankfully, was the ribs. Tender and juicy at the same time and served with a generous serving of roasted potatoes. Although I do have to say that the sauce/gravy was a tad too sweet. And this is coming from a guy with a high tolerance for sweetness. Unfortunately, this was what I tasted from my partner’s order. It wasn’t mine. I ordered the deep fried steak and it wasn’t a good dish. The batter was too thick for my liking and the seasoning in the batter didn’t really complement the steak, which was tough and chewy. Add that to the thick deep fried exterior, and it’s not worthy of your taste buds. Badoque might be known for their generous serving but they may be a bit too generous. Everything looked like it was made for two. Even the fries that came with the deep fried steak covered the entire plate. I’m a fan of soggy fries and it didn’t help that the fries served were plain and didn’t even have any potato in it. Just a crunchy, tasteless exterior. One thing that Badoque does do consistent is their drinks. The lime ice blend that I ordered was to die for. Although it not that nice when your about to finish it. Anyone planning to drop by the restaurant, I highly recommend the ribs and only the ribs for the main course. But be ready to leave the restaurant with your bellies about to burst.

We were around the area and decided to come by for a late lunch. Lamb Shank — Hubby liked it enough as the serving is quite ok. Taste wise, it is also not bad. Seafood Marinara — my default order… the ingredients are pretty fresh and also adequate in amount. But i don’t quite love the sauce, it’s ok but I guess I wanted more. Sausage Pasta — daughter like it but I found it a tad too salty. This is very much a kiddie dish, not very gourmet indeed. We were happy enough with our lunch but not somewhere we will return though. The price of lunch was not too cheap too.

This is yet another restaurant located in a somewhat inconspicuous place, but yet it still manages to attract quite a crowd, so I’m sure they must be doing something right. The awesome service here, in addition to the great food, probably contributed a great deal to that. We came in a party of four and ordered the seafood aglio olio, shrimp tartine, and the chicken khuzee. The portions here are sufficiently large, which made the hungry bunch of us really happy. The seafood aglio olio was really delicious; the pasta was cooked to the right degree and the sauce was absolutely amazing. There was a good amount of mussels. My friend also enjoyed the chicken khuzee and shrimp tartine. Overall, this is definitely a place that I would highly recommend for great food and awesome service!

Situated at a less than strategic part of Simpang Bedok, it can be difficult to locate this small café. Like all the other eating places there, Badoque serves Halal food and is owned and run by Muslims. Upon entering the café, we were greeted by their friendly staff who promptly directed us to a table. They remained attentive throughout the whole time we were there too. For starters, we ordered the Chicken and Orange Salad($ 7), which had chunks of lean chicken and juicy segments of mandarin orange tossed with fresh greens and drizzled with an olive oil dressing. Next came the Squid Ink Pasta($ 16), a main course that many have raved about. The spaghetti was cooked till al dente and flavorful, then served with squid, seasoned octopus and cherry tomatoes. Finally, Bardoque Steak, one of their specialties, arrived. We were dumbfounded when the waitress laid the dish on the table, because the steak was massive. The steak was laced with a layer of fat and covered with brown sauce. The mash potato on the side was slightly dry though.
