This ones a hidden gem, walked past it many times and never stepped in, just cos the frontage looked so ordinary. But when I did make the time, I walked away feeling this is one of tastiest joints in Singapore. I had a pumpkin soup and their garden salad, and my friends had a beef goulash. All three were exceptional, and even the bread it was served with was phenomenal. Friendly service, laid back — I’m definitely coming back.

This is near my in-laws’ place so we decided to check this out. We ordered: Hungarian Goulash Soup — this soup tasted a little ‘off’. Not spoilt but not how I remember leh. Monster Burger — hubby said that the burger is nice but a tad small. Cajun Chicken — this dish is pretty good and the portion is also generous. Taste good too! Salmon Steak — the salmon portion is quite big and the skin is pan-fried till crispy! Yummy! Roast Duck — easily the best dish of the meal. The leg of duck is roasted till the skin is crispy and the meat is tender under the skin. Spaghetti Pomodoro with Bacon — my daughter finished an adult’s portion all by herself! Not sure if we’ll return but it was worth a meal here.

Affectionately coined«The Office» by the bunch of boys I hang out with, Foo House oa really a local watering hole that happens to serve up some decent mains including Hainanese Pork Chops and Duck Confit. The Beef Goulash is pretty satisfying too. But yes, it is a pub so don’t expect the food to be refined or well-curated. If you’re a teetotaler, try the iced fruit tea — one of the key reasons the boys keep coming back!

This is a review of lunch with a colleague at Foo House Café’ and Bar. I found this place via a search on Google maps. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The ambiance is that of a cool little café with lots of nick nacks. It reminds me of a place like you would find in Berkeley, California. It has a nice laid back vibe and our server was a hipster but in a good way. The service was polite and professional. I wouldn’t say it was overly friendly but it certainly wasn’t rude either. We were seated, our order was taken, and our food and beverages came out quickly. Steak Sandwich — This was a good steak sandwich but not a great one. The steak was cooked a little more than it should be. This meant it was slightly tougher than one would prefer and had lost of a bit of the flavour of the beef. I did enjoy the bun. It was soft but with that outer layer of crispness, perfect for a steak sandwich. The fries were pretty good. They were thicker cut, almost like a steak fry. Cajun Chicken — This was my colleagues lunch. It looked quite good. There was nothing particularly Cajun about it and my colleague confirmed this. i also had some lime juice. Receipt(Lunch for 2 — $ 38.17) Overall — First, this was a three and a half star review rounded up to four stars. The service was decent. The food was also. I really liked the laid back feel of the place. At almost $ 40 for lunch for two, it is not a budget option for lunch. But I knew that going in. If I was in the neighbourhood and was hungry, I would visit again and try something else on the menu. However, I would not go out of my way again to visit Foo House.

Foo House is along the stretch that is beside Simpang Bedok which is always buzzing with activity. It serves really good food, from a friendly and nice chef who is used to work for a good hotel. I like the whole atmosphere at the restaurant, especially during the evening. With the warm dim lights and homely interior, it makes the whole place very welcoming and comfortable. The Hainanese pork chop is one of its specialties. The pork is tender, and coupled with the butter rice, it’s a perfect match. You cannot miss out on the roast duck too. It is so full of flavor you will just want to keep on going back for it. They also serve alcoholic drinks and have a few beers on tap; goes well with the food too! One thing to note is that the restaurant is quite small. So if you have a big group coming in, do call in advance to book tables or you may have to wait quite a while or settle for the outdoor seats.

When I first got here, I felt that this place had a very nice rustic feel to it. The décor consisted of books stacked at the corner on the shelves, and there were all sorts of interesting posters pasted over the walls. It’s a nice place. We made our orders fairly quickly and for me, I ordered the Hainanese porkchop, which came with my favorite butter rice. The hainanese porkchop was fantastic as the pork was quite tender and I really liked the gravy that went with it. My friend was a hungry one and ordered The Foo Works, which basically consisted of the Picardy Monster Beef Burger with loads of additional toppings. According to him, the patty was extremely satisfying and he said that this is probably one of the better burgers that he has eaten. This is definitely a great place to have a meal and with the highly extensive menu, I’m sure you will be spoilt for choice. Highly recommended.

Foo House possesses a casual and rustic setting with cemented floor and antique décor. Renowned for being opened by a former chef from Grand Hyatt Hotel, Foo House is great for its western dishes and generous portions. One of their signature dishes, The Foo Works($ 20.90), is a massive beef burger stacked with additional bacon, egg, caramelized onion, mushrooms and oozing melted cheese. Every bite into the burger created an explosion of taste in my mouth; it was just that flavorful. Even the side of mashed potato was light yet smooth and buttery. The Salmon Steak($ 18.90) was cooked to perfection, which is rare since most restaurants tend to overcook their salmon dishes. Coupled with a cream sauce over the salmon fillet, the fish literally melts in your mouth. For dessert, the Deep Fried Mars Bars are a must-try. Served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, this sinful indulgence is definitely a dish that would complete your wholesome meal. With big portions and reasonable prices, my dining experience at Foo House was an enjoyable one.
