So I came here TWICE in one day! Lunch and dinner today! They’ve got quite a number of good eat up here! I tried 3 stalls today — 1. Seng’s Wanton Mee(same as the one from Dunman Road) 2. Uncle Chicken Rice 3. The Burning Oak Let’s start with number 1. What can I say about Sengs wanton Mee… It’s my fav wanton Mee since it was at Dunman road. The originally uncle who sells it I’ve heard has since been semi retired but works sometimes at the bedok South hawker centre outlet. I’ve been to that outlet a few times and thought something had changed and wasn’t too keen anymore… Until I tried THISOUTLET! I think he sold his recipe to someone else here or something but this outlet has it SPOTON! It has the same taste I was looking for and more! I ordered the medium bowl and I did not regret! Good portion, tasty and you can add as much of the pork lard you want self service! It was so good that when I came back for dinner, I decided to pack two more for my parents! — 8⁄10 rating. So on to number 2! This stall has been gaining headlines on the current news for having want to sell his recipe for a big some of money. Uncle chicken rice is the son of the famous chicken rice that used to be at Margaret drive. Very generous with that tasty rice and superb chilli and chunky garlic. The chicken was too spectacular and was a bit dry today. Maybe I got the wrong part today as it was just for one. Maybe it’ll be better if there was a whole chicken to share. I don’t know. But I’d only give it a 6⁄10 today.(I’ve got high expectations for chicken rice) 3. The burning oak uncle is quite friendly and he gave me some suggestions when ordering. I was pretty hungry so he suggested the Wagyu beef and some fried Japanese curry rice ball as an alternative as I initially wanted a normal bowl of rice for my beef. The beef was well seasoned and tasted good but was very chewy on some parts but soft and tender on other parts. Unfortunately some parts were so chewy that I had to cast it aside and just eat the tender parts. The Japanese curry rice ball was interesting. The crust batter was fried pretty perfectly and had a mild taste of Japanese curry. It would have been better if the curry taste was stronger. The 2 dishes costed me $ 19.50. A few hits and misses here at this store but they seem to have a steady stream of customers who were buying the kushiyaki. Maybe next time I’ll try that too since I like stuff on wooden skewers! Rated 6.5÷10 I walked around the whole floor and saw a few more stores I wanted to try next time too! I’ll probably be back since I live in the east! Would I come here if didn’t live in the East? Well hard to say… I’d probably still check it out at least once if I have nothing to do being a foodie and all :)
