The ground floor was being refurbished during our most recent visit, so things were not quite as they use to be(we stayed once before). We stayed in a «Superior Extra» room, which had a balcony and was probably a bit larger than normal rooms. Nice bathroom with good products, but why the window from the bedroom? Don’t need that. The breakfast has been somewhat chaotic during both our stays, lots of people(many families with kids), but it worked out. The bars have always been very busy in the evenings with lots of partying people, probably a fun place if you’re into that. Also great surroundings with lots of places to eat. Free Wi-Fi worked OK.

Club/lounge/hotel lounge… Review for the«nightclub» later at night. Expensive. $ 25 for a redbull and vodka… damn exchange rate… we Americans cannot compare to the Kroners! Crowd: pretty popping, a lot of girls… so not a cockfest. People dance, plays American songs. Just be prepare to spend $$$

Came here to stay for three nights. Excellent location in the Sturehof area of Stockholm which is very well known for its noisy nightlife. I enjoyed that part of it, but sadly the hotel was nothing special. There was an absence of staff at reception at key times, like at checkout. I didn’t find them particularly helpful. They got the room wrong; I had specifically booked a twin room but got a completely unsuitable double. The member of staff told me to separate the beds myself and was very reluctant to come to the room when I requested that she did so herself. When she discovered it was indeed a double bed, she blamed the hotel computer and suggested they put a ‘z bed’ in the corner of the room. I declined; this place is not cheap! There are bars on the ground floor, 3rd and 7th. I didn’t mind but it’s probably not ideal for parents with children. Breakfast was good but very busy; it was often difficult to find a table. The rooms were basic, and I did notice that the towels were rough and worn; I would have expected more from a 4 star hotel. Also there are no free toiletries, just a soap dispenser, and no tea and coffee-making facilities. Unimpressive!

I’ve only visited the bars(terrace, ground floor and cocktail bar) but they are great. Competent bartenders, good ambience. Great place to sit and work on an afternoon, as they offer free wifi(codes can be gotten at the bar) and electricity.

As expensive as Stockholm is, I thought I did well to stay here. With a little trepidation I booked and pre-paid a windowless«cabin room» in the basement for around $ 95/night for a three night stay. This worked out quite nicely. I actually really liked my room. I didn’t miss the window(I wasn’t around much during the day anyway), and although it was probably the smallest I’d ever stayed in(around 100 sq ft), it was surprising functional, going so far as to include an iron and ironing board(I’ve been in rooms twice the size in which it was hard to figure out where an ironing board might stand). I’m a very claustrophobic person(hence the trepidation I referred to above), but wasn’t affected at all here. Beyond the room, the hotel itself was great. The location was near-perfect, in the middle of Stureplan(a hip area known for its nightlife) and well connected to the rest of the city by Stockholm’s excellent transit system. The hotel breakfast was solid, and the gym(which you have to walk through to get to the basement rooms) was one of the better hotel gyms I’ve seen recently.

In trying to find Sture Hof, and taking wrong turn, I discovered the Hotel with bar and restaurant underneath. After enjoying a meal at Sture Hof, I ventured back to sample the bar. The bar is open plan to the hotel reception, and sweeps round in a horseshoe shape with the restaurant seemingly on the other side. The path outside was undergoing some renovation, but I accessed it on the corner directly into the bar. It features two beers on draught, one a local(and reasonable tasting) swedish lager, and the other a Czech beer. I opted for the Swedish lager, and given that it was 57SEK, for not even a pint, I was glad I didn’t find out what the Czech beer cost. Behind the bar, there is an island of fridges, spirits, and glasses. On the back of this island is a DJ with a mac playing(on this tuesday evening) some retro tracks. Mustang sally, as I write, and spinning wheel(Blood, sweat and tears?) before that. Moet starts at 125SEK by the glass, cocktails start at 110SEK, and the beer, as mentioned was 57SEK. What struck me, when I walked past before when lost, were the number of people chilling in the seats by the windows using their Macs. I have a mac, so I thought I’d fit in nicely. Will definitely have a look and see how much the hotel is for my next stay in a few weeks.
