For a café in a tourist trap I was expecting the food to be sub-​par as would be the case in comparable US establishments. But boy was I wrong! The options here were limited (fish and chips, cottage pie, meat pies, soups, small salad bar, etc.) however everything seemed to be made so well and looked great. I ordered the cottage pie and it was a perfect lunch option! I would have eaten far worse if I had gone to a Pret or any one of the other lunch spots nearby. What made this place special is that you’re within 100 yards of 1,000 years of British monarchy history!
Gotta give this place 4 stars for exceeding my expectations. The staff were friendly, there was plenty of seating, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for something as close to home cooked as you’ll find in central London (£7 for my cottage pie). I’d eat here again the next time I visit the Tower.

I was expecting the food to be horrible since it is inside a tourist spot, but it was fresh, and good tasting. I like the layout and presentation, a mix of modern, old, and country. A good alternative to the cheap food around museums that leave you wishing that you had starved instead.

Not terrible for a café within a public landmark. Heck, we’ve had worse food at higher-​rated establishments!
The café offers everything from cold sandwiches to hot meals, desserts to drinks. You basically walk in, grab a tray, and then spend some time figuring out which meal you’d prefer that day.
We went with a quiche they had on special, which (to my surprise) came with a salad and a piece of garlic bread.
The dining room is large, which is nice, because it was also packed that day. They do a good job of turning over tables, once one is vacated, so we didn’t have any issue finding a place to huddle.
The food was surprisingly good. The quiche was light, and the flavors of the spinach and tomatoes weren’t lost at all. The salad was a nice — and welcome — addition. The bread was — well, it’s garlic bread. Hard to mess that up.
It was nice having a place to sit down and relax for a bit, in the middle of a hectic day. It was a bonus having decent food that filled us up for the afternoon, as well.

If I’m laying down 39 quid for lunch, my toad in the hole should be hot!
This is a very nice venue, with all manner of cafeteria food. Steam table, hot line, sandwiches and drinks from show cases, cookies on the counter. A price point for nearly every pocket book.
Plan on 11 for lunch and you can’t go wrong. After that, the place fills up, people surge and jostle around, eat elbow to elbow, and elderlies in wheel chairs are fortunate to have their own seating.
We ordered from daily special steam table, and the food was barely warm. I know amphibians are cold blooded, but a toad in the hole should be hot. Cold scalloped potatoes on the side — fit only for prisoners of The Tower.
Everything else was very good. Squash soup, bread, teas, and a delightful cloudy sparkling lemonade from the case.

Le nom sonne bien et est même mérité puisque cette cantine à l’intérieur de la Tour de Londres est située dans l’ancienne armurerie du château (ou l’atelier, ça dépend des sources que j’ai pu trouver). Environnement plutôt sympa donc dans un vieux bâtiment, mais pour le reste ça reste une cantine à touristes: plateau, à gauche de la salle self-​service ou stands de plats ou sandwiches à la demande, et caisses au milieu avant d’aller se trouver une place aux grandes tables situées dans l’autre partie de la salle. Pourquoi pas, c’est plus pratique que de se trimballer son sandwich pendant toute la visite, et la qualité n’est pas mauvaise, même si évidemment c’est très cher pour un snack.
L’alternative bien sûr, aux beaux (et secs) jours, c’est d’aller piqué-​niquer sous les remparts, dans les anciennes douves (the moat), où c’est permis et même encouragé !

We stopped here for a late lunch around 2pm. We had a couple different dishes. Unfortunately the food tasted like it had been made an hour or two earlier — cold and dry. It might be fine at noon but I wouldn’t go late.

Very impressed with the food and the price of the food here considering it’s in the middle of a tourist location. It is cafeteria style and each counter is themed to represent a different area of London. The food is from each market area of London, there’s New Covent Garden, Smithfield, Ledenhall and Billingsgate. I can’t remember exactly where I got each dish because we tried to grab something from each counter. We got a spinach and feta pocket that was tasty and flaky. We got a chicken and butternut squash flan which sounds strange but was delicious! We also tried the asparagus and mint soup. It was refreshing and perfectly seasoned. The people at every counter were nice and friendly and knowledgeable about what was in each of their dishes. Great place to stop and eat in the Tower of London to replenish yourself so you can walk around the vast grounds some more!

A wonderful museum and collection too. The Royal Armouries have some of the oldest ceremonial outfits ever worn by the British forces and even some bits from back in the Roman times.

Das Restaurant liegt direkt am White Tower und bietet sich für eine kurze Pause nach einer anstrengenden Tower Besichtigung an. Es ist ein sehr schön hergerichtets Gebäude. Das Restaurant ist ein Selbstbedienungsrestaurant, mit sehr leckeren, hausgemachten Kuchen. Wir waren nachmittags dort, deshalb kann ich zum Speisenangebot nicht sagen. Man kann sich im Internet einen Gutschein runterladen, da bekommt man ein Essen für Kinder ermäßigt.
