Amazing building with so much history. Usually have different things going on depending on the time of year. Definitely go inside and do the short tour they offer with admission. The famous attraction here is the crown jewels, but you can spend house looking at everything this place has to offer.

This is a great place to spend the day.

This was, by far, my favorite tourist attraction from entire trip to London. The beefeaters are top-​notch! They are hilarious and knowledgeable and interact with the public with a great deal of finesse. DO wait for the next tour! It will be well worth it! This is history that everyone can get into whether you know a little or a lot about the Tower and its former occupants and subsequent beheadings. Oh, and the crown jewels are incredible and the armory is not to be missed… check out Henry VIII regalia and tell me he wasn’t an insane egomaniac! If you are a student with a student ID — there is a discount and its good. This is an absolute MUST for your itinerary. Worth every penny and then some!

So much history!!! This place is so incredible. The entrance fee is steep, hence 4 star not 5, but I got a 2for1 voucher (check out the Days Out Guide website). From the outside the Tower of London doesn’t look that much, but from inside those walls there is so much more to see!
I’d 100% recommend doing the free 60 minute tour with one of the Yeoman Warders (who actually live inside the tower walls) to learn about the history of the buildings, and a bit about the Yeoman Warders too which is really interesting.
The Beauchamp Tower is where the prisoners were held, and you can see the graffiti from centuries ago on the walls. Very eerie in this tower.
Another tip is of course to see the crown jewels. Pretty impressive!
All in all an amazing day out, especially for any Tudor nerds like me. But be warned, there is A LOT too see here. We expected to do a few hours but were there for 3.5 I think. We stopped half way through for a sit down in the (pricey) café. There are plenty of benches located outside and around the site if you wanted to bring your own snacks etc.
We saw so much and learnt so much that I feel I can’t do it justice in this review. Go and see it for yourself. And give yourself time so you don’t have to rush!

To be honest, for what you get, the Tower of London is very expensive! Especially after you’ve been around Europe or the other castles, this kind of started feeling like just another tower/​castle.
BUT! The tower here has 2 main features/​attractions that beats most other tourist places:
1) Crown Jewels — you get to see all the jewels used across the generations, and basically the biggest diamond one can ever see
2) [which is also a main tip] Free guided tour at set times
Tip:
There is a Yeoman Warden guided tour every day at a set time. Make sure you check the time first before you go in! Basically it’s a free guided tour from one of the on site staffs to bring you around the Tower and explain the histories as well. Make sure you check it out!

BLOODY HAUNTED!
Guarded by Military Guards the Tower is situated on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. The most monumental feature of the entire city of London and also known as Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress. The lines are long to get in and prepare for a LOT of walking but it’s very exciting being lead on tour by the knowledgeable and funny Yeoman guides better known as «Beefeaters.»
The only Castle I’ve ever visited that had an entire moat built around the building for security. The entry gate is locked after 10 PM (Ceremony of Keys) so don’t be stuck in the Tower or you might not get out, has been known to happen! Many heads were lopped off here (Henry Viii 2^nd wife among them) which is why I chalk this up as the number one paranormal of tours I’ve taken in my lifetime. The hair stood up on my forearms and I felt a strange cool chill when I entered the ‘death chapel’ including the turret with the spiral staircase and lastly, ‘Tower Green’ made me lose my breath and my chest tightened up.
The Crown Jewels are in the Martin Tower and the Armor Room has larger than life full armor pieces (I had this creepy feeling someone was in the suit, not good). Some areas are roped off but never venture alone as the Tower is huge with lots of hidden chambers making it easy to get lost and maybe then beheaded, lol.
The vast history of the Tower of London will never be known to commoners like me but one can only imagine. The Ravens that mysteriously make the grounds their permanent home (they never fly away) are the best nugget for a ‘conversation piece’ of the entire site.
The lengthy tour is very exhausting emotionally and physically.

Have you ever felt swayed about a place by the opinions of others? That’s sort of what I felt about the Tower of London. Sure it’s a tourist attraction ‘must see’ and the history of the place was undeniable, but I was kind of meh about the whole experience by the end.
The fact that so many friends have reviewed this place had me reliving my own experience through the lens of their own reviews and swayed my opinion higher a notch or two than I would have based on just my own visit. My own pessimism was likely due to fatigue following a day spent traipsing across London hitting all the sites and the Tower was a lengthy final stop that involved a lot of walking and room exploring.
There is definitely no shortage of history to take in here, and I definitely found it extremely interesting. We were even fortunate enough to not have to fight large crowds to see the crown jewels, my only wish here was that we would have been allowed to take some pictures of them, but I understand for security purposes why this was a no-​no.
I think on a clear day and fully rested this spot would definitely receive a natural fifth star from me, so I’ll split the diff and rate this a 4!

One travel tip I picked up from Anthony Bourdain is to read a historical fiction novel for the place you’re traveling to so that you learn about the culture and history of a place in a fun way before you arrive. For London, I read Phillipa Gregory’s The Taming of the Queen and learned about King Henry VIII and his 6^th and last wife Kateryn Parr. In the book, the Tower of London is referenced multiple times in the context of the King sending his opponents, ex-​wife and people he’s putting on trial there in prison. It was there that they tortured a woman reformation priest Anne Askew by stretching her limbs apart.
Though the Tower of London had the steepest admissions price of all the attractions I went to, I’d say it was worth it since I learned the most about England’s history there. It was incredible seeing the torture devices in person. I also enjoyed the wild animal menagerie exhibit. Another fascinating exhibit was the history of the royal mint and how it has changed over time with each monarch. Finally, the Crown Jewels. It was through the Crown Jewels that I realized how closely tied the British monarch is tied to the church. Each part of the coronation ceremony from the Orb and Scepter are symbolic of the King/​Queen acknowledging their divine appointment by God as His chosen servant to rule righteously over the kingdom. Very cool!
I will say though, lower your expectations because it is a smaller «museum» than I expected, and I could see how people would feel like they didn’t get the bang for their buck from the steep admissions price. But for someone not from England, I really enjoyed it and think it is worth it!

Is it the Tower of London or the Fortress of London? Wrongly attributed as the symbol of torture, the famous Tower of London was actually the royal residence at one point! Now, it is a museum that also houses one of the most precious items in the world — the Crown Jewels of the British Monarchs.
Okay there was torture in this fortress, but the records showed only 6 in its history. Then again, it could be black ops…
Anyway, in this fortress, you will find exhibits about the history of not only the Tower itself but also somewhat London’s history. This is definitely an interesting history museum in this Tower that played so many roles throughout history, but if you are not history, the Crown Jewels will certainly dazzle you no matter what! In the namesake White Tower, the Line of Kings, which is a row of imitation or authentic armors of the past British kings, and the armory are also interesting sights to see.
I definitely recommend visiting here for all London tourists. Tower of London is easily reached via Tower Hill on Circle Line, and I suggest coming early so you can get a good glimpse of the Crown Jewels without the wait and the crowd. Tower Bridge can be your next destination afterwards!
Also, look for a shop on your way from the tube station to the entrance and get a group discount ticket of £22! (Normal admission is £24.5)

Por mucho que la hayáis visto en fotos, TV, cine o similares, no eres consciente del verdadero tamaño de la Torre de Londres hasta que te plantas frente a ella. O a lo mejor es que yo tenía una idea equivocada, porque desde luego no me esperaba una fortaleza de semejante tamaño en pleno corazón londinense.
Lo malo de la construcción, en mi humilde opinión, es que no tiene muchos adornos ni ornamentos, lo cual hace que tenga un aspecto algo monótono. Aunque también es cierto que esta monotonía se rompe con el ajetreo de personas (turistas principalmente) yendo y viniendo alrededor de su entorno.
Luego está el tema de la entrada, que si de por sí Londres ya es caro, la Torre de Londres se sale de la media. Y es que cuando vi que la entrada costaba 25 £ lo que me vino a la cabeza fue un: «oye, qué maja que es por fuera».

This historic location is open to the public and consists of a small compound of buildings highlighting various exhibits. The key attraction is the Crown Jewels so be sure to get in line — it appears long but moves quickly and is not something you want to miss! The jewels are fabulous and one of a kind, but there are other precious items still in use on display as well — while were there the baptismal font was being used for Princess Caroline’s baptism — which makes the exhibit even more relevant and enjoyable.
There are snack and beverage kiosks located within as well as gift shops for souvenirs.
Fun stop for all ages!

Impressive fortress and history behind it. Cruel with all the beheadings and murders that took place inside those walls.
The Beefeaters are knowledgeable and with a sense of a dry humor. Very informative. They truly give you a history lesson. They have served in the armed forces for over 20 yrs. And are very proud to be in Hef Majesty service at this capacity.
I’d visited many times before, with a lag time of many yrs. So, it was like visiting for the first time.
The jewels are a copy of the original, they look real though.
The tower where the two princes were murdered has a special haunting feeling.
A MUST to see.

Great stuff! The Tower of London is amazing and we lucked out, arriving around 1:30pm, to find no lines and so were just able to walk in and see the Jewels. If given a choice of which walkway you can go on, choose the right when passing the jewels, as you can only see the Kohinoor diamond from this side while the ruby is on the other side.
Also well worth going on the Yeoman Warder’s free tour (we caught the last one at 2:30pm). They tell you about the origins of the tower, the water gate, the chapel and the legends plus gory be-​headings and this takes about an hour.
We also went and checked out the Agincourt and the armory exhibitions going on at The White Tower. It’s a fair number of stairs to climb up and down, with no elevators so if you are feeling your age, take it easy.
I reckon you can’t come to London and not come here!

This attraction is very cool and I suggest you go straight to the crown jewels if that’s what you want to see. There is a long line and you need to get in it ASAP.
It was a great historical locale in London so if you want to get a sense of more London history, this is the place.

If you have a limited amount of time in London and can only do one attraction, I recommend the Tower. A lot to see and learn. Incredible place — so much history.
Take the guided Yeomen Warder (Beefeater) tour. It doesn’t cost extra. Our guide was really funny and entertaining as well as informative.
After the tour, I recommend getting in line for the Crown Jewels (the tour will end next door, in the Chapel) as the line can get a bit long.
The White Tower is also a really great one to check out especially if you like armor and weapons.
I also really liked the Bloody Tower (very quick walk) because the story is so heartbreaking.
You can take photos at most exhibits except for Crown Jewels and the Chapel…

Wer einen Blick auf die Kronjuwelen werfen möchte oder sehen will wo Anne Boleyn eingekerkert kommt an einem Besuch dieser Institution mit einer über 1000 jährigen Geschichte nicht vorbei. Es sind verschiedene Themen-​Touren buchbar. Wer möchte kann den Tower natürlich auch auf eigene Faust erkunden. Selbstverständlich ist der Tower of London heutzutage nicht mehr so gruselig wie er damals gewesen sein muss, dennoch überkam mich in einigen Ecken eine Gänsehaut. Die kalten Steine, die dunklen Gewölbe und das Kreischen der Raben — das ist schon eine faszinierende Atmosphäre!

Since it is a tourists attraction spot, it gets crowded.
There is a café outside Tower of London in case you need to grab a bite or drink. They do have seating area. FYI, they charge a little bit more if you dine in.

A must do if you want to view the crown jewels used for the coronation of Kings & Queens and special occasions. Located nearby the Tower Bridge– this former castle houses the priceless gems including the world’s largest diamond.
Cameras and phones are strictly prohibited and the strictly enforce this rule big time!
We skipped the weapons area because we visited Burroughs market which is within walking distance.
The price of admission is worth seeing the jewels. I found this online enjoy:

We actually went to the Tower of London twice: the first was for the Ceremony of the Keys (highly recommended tour — it’s about an hour out of your life, and it’s a glimpse into a ceremony that happens every night, that most people aren’t aware of), the second was to tour the Tower properly.
We started the day with one of the free Yeoman Warder tours. I highly recommend this, as well. They last about 45 minutes, and you’re given some insight into the jobs of the men who dwell in this space, as well as the group’s history.
The largest exhibit within the complex is The Line of Kings — basically wall upon wall and room upon room of armor and weapons, weapons and armor. It’s interesting to start — they have King Henry VIII’s armor on display! — but after a while, it all started to blend. I mean, there’s only so many chest plates and sharp-​pointy-​things a person can see before their eyes start to glaze over.
Within that display, though, they do have several other branches. For example, you can see some of the gifts that were presented to the monarchy from visiting dignitaries. Or, you can see an original coin press, or an impressive dragon display meant to showcase the storage of gunpowder in the tower. But after that — more armor and sharp things!
The Crown Jewels is an exhibit that you really don’t want to miss. It can get crowded, but they do a good job of moving people along. If you’re even remotely interested in shiny, opulent, golden things, this stop should be high on your list!
It’s an impressive display of history and opulence and excess. I mean, just the scepters alone could probably feed a medium-​sized country. One of the diamonds (either in a crown or an orb or a scepter… it all blends together) is over 500 carats! Queen Elizabeth II’s current crown — her every day, wearing it around the Palace kind of crown — is said to contain pearls from the original Queen Elizabeth, circa 1558, amongst others. There’s the coronation spoon (yes, a spoon) and spurs (to keep those imaginary horses in line) and sword that the sovereign holds for all of a minute, and the Imperial Crown of India, created for King George V and worn only once (because the law states that the Crown Jewels cannot be removed from the country, and of course King George V needed a crown to wear when he visited India that one time in 1911…)
I know I’m making light of this, but it really was quite fascinating. They had the crown jewels from every monarch since the Restoration, and they are all in remarkable condition. My husband remarked that he noticed a small amount of oxidation near the jewel fastenings on one of the 1600’s crowns, but other than that, they looked like they were created this year.
They also had a golden punch bowl that was so large my dog could have bathed in it. There were banquet items (all golden), baptismal items (gold, as well), a cloth-​of-​gold Imperial Mantle, emeralds, rubies, pearls, sapphires, and of course, more diamonds.
It was all very glittery.
As for the Bloody Tower, I was underwhelmed. With all the history and mystery surrounding this one spot alone, I had expected an exhibit to captivate and make me think. What we got instead was rather sad. There are one or two short references to the princes, and then you enter the room, where you’re shown several short movie clips on a blank wall. You’re not given much more information than that — Hollywood variations, artists renditions — but no real fact.
There are other small points of interest along the way as well. You can see a memorial on the spot where executions were held. You can stand close to canons that are still installed (but not in use) to this day. You can stand at the highest point of the walls and view the river, the London Bridge, and the skyline from there. You can even grab yourself some food at the café tucked in a building in the back.
It’s a nice way to spend an afternoon, even if it’s crowded.

This is the one of the major attractions in London and definitely worth seeing, especially if you are into history.
Growing up, I thought the Tower of London was just a tower. Upon entering the site, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Tower to be a castle. I’ve visited the Tower of London twice — both of which I had less than 90 minutes to explore the whole museum before it closed. Both occasions I felt rushed and tight on time — 90 minutes definitely is not enough time explore the whole tower!
Most recently, I went on a Wednesday at 4pm in March, and was fortunate that there were no lines and the rooms were not crowded. There is a lot to see and there are also a couple of free tours included in the ticket price — I would recommend looking up the tours in advance.
We ventured to the Royal Mint at the Tower — stories behind coins that were minted; the White Tower — oldest part of the Tower and a World Heritage Site — it houses large collections of armory, treasures, and exhibition of the Line of Kings, and the Royal Jewels — one of the main attractions and amazing to see. To see the jewels you go on a conveyor belt. We also spent some time walking the inner walls, exploring different corners and also some of the courtyards. The views of Tower Bridge from the wall are great.
It is pricey — 24£ for an adult, but for a 3 – 4 hour visit, it’s good value for what you see and the price is still comparable to other London attractions. Unfortunately there were some exhibits we didn’t see due to time, so I would recommend at least allocating 3 hours minimum to this attraction!

What did I learn from my trip to Tower of London? The English are NO JOKE. I guess we all kind of knew that already, but this place is filled with so much brutal history, you really start to realize how ruthless it all was.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I arrived here. I didn’t have much time to explore the grounds because I had a ticket to ride the London Eye in a couple of hours, so that was mistake one. Piece of Advice: Allot a few hours (maybe three at least) to really get to know this place. The grounds are huge and there is plenty to learn about and be seen.
#2: Make sure you do a tour with one of the Beefeaters. It’s totally free and totally worth it. Our beefeater was HILARIOUS and so knowledgeable. I learned a lot in that one hour time slot and it definitely made my trip to the tower more efficient.
#3: Come out early. The line for the Crown Jewels gets crazy. I was lucky enough to get into it when the line wasn’t that bad, so I only waited about 20 minutes to get in, but when I exited the building, there were a ton of people in line. I would suggest arriving as soon as the place opens and hit the crown jewels first. Take note of when the next Beefeater tour is and then head to the front gates for that AFTER you’ve done the crown jewels. You don’t enter that building with the beefeater and it’s all really self explanatory. Really worth seeing, too. When else in life are you going to see a diamond the size of a baby’s fist?
#4: Bring comfortable shoes! The cobblestones can making walking with certain shoes uncomfortable.
#5: Buy your tickets online and head directly to the group sales ticket booth when you arrive (if you need to pick them up). Don’t wait in the ticket sales line. They can’t help you if you’ve already pre-​purchased your ticket.
#6: If it looks like it might rain, make sure you bring an umbrella. The grounds are huge and you’ll be outside for a lot of it.
#7: Save time and head to the Tower Bridge exhibition after. Don’t do what I did and hit them on separate days. They’re so close to each other, best to hit them one after the other.
#8: Not really advice, but a suggestion. Take the water bus if you need to head back to the Big Ben side of town. I did and it was an awesome way to see everything along the river. You can get off at The Eye or The Globe or The Wharf. And you can use your Oyster card!
The Tower of London is probably the best place to check out while in London containing the most history. Don’t skip out on this one!

Una de las visitas más completas y largas que he hecho. La visita cuesta 21,45 libras (unos 29 euros). Hay que decir que está en la línea de lo que suele ser Londres, que es una ciudad cara. No obstante, vale lo que cuesta porque ya digo que es una visita completísima (ya luego estará en el gusto de cada uno lo que le resulta más o menos interesante). Además, hay importantes descuentos para menores de edad, ancianos, estudiantes… y con la London Pass es gratis. Abre de 9:00 a 17:30 de Martes a Sábados y de 10:00 a 17:30 los Lunes y Domingos.
Data de 1066 y es una fortaleza que durante muchos años se usó como prisión y que actualmente salvaguarda las llamadas Joyas de la Corona. Desde fuera no parece tan grande pero nosotros hicimos el camino completo de la muralla por arriba y en rodearla tardamos un buen rato. Además, para ver a fondo todos los edificios la visita se te puede ir a más de 3 horas en total (lo que estuvimos nosotros). El terreno está plagado de beefeaters, que se encargan no solo de vigilar sino también de guiar a los turistas.
La visita va por partes, por un lado está todo el recorrido de la muralla, donde te vas encontrando reconstrucciones de arqueros y también vídeos, sonidos y lecturas informativas. Por otro lado está la torre blanca, el edificio central, donde hay un poco de todo, desde reconstrucciones de aposentos reales medievales hasta un museo de armas. Vista desde fuera no parece muy alta pero probad a subirla… Luego está el edificio donde se encuentran las Joyas de la Corona, donde la visita se hace con el mínimo de luz posible para que resalten las joyas. Al lado hay otro edificio que alberga un museo de la guerra. También está la Torre Sangrienta, donde te detallan algunos métodos de tortura. Y el jardín central donde habitan los famosos cuervos.
Dice la leyenda que el día que deje de haber cuervos allí caerá la Monarquía Británica. Los británicos son muy tradicionales (yo diría que más que nadie en todo Occidente) y esta obsesión llega a tal punto que a los cuervos que viven allí les cortan las alas para que no escapen y los vacunan cada vez que salta una alarma vírica como cuando la gripe aviar. Todas estas condiciones de mantenimiento de los cuervos están firmadas por un decreto Real. Increíble pero cierto.
En fin, te interese más o te interese menos lo que está claro es que la Torre de Londres es un monumento histórico no solamente clave en una visita a la capital británica sino también un lugar repleto de historias. Os aseguro que hay un poco de todo, en una larguísima y completísima visita como esta seguro que cualquiera podrá encontrar al menos una historia que sea de su gusto e interés. Por eso yo recomiendo totalmente la inversión, pocos monumentos encontraréis en Londres donde salgáis con tanta sensación de haber amortizado el dinero de la entrada.

Este lugar é fantástico! Qualquer pessoa vai contar sobre todos os segredos, assombrações e histórias cabalísticas que rolaram por aqui e eles estão absolutamente certos. Se você quer fazer um rolê turistico que realmente valha a pena, this is it my friend.
Esta é uma das coisas mais antigas de Londres, só não é mais antiga do que a própria muralha (ou o que sobrou dela) que separava a «Cidade de Londres» do resto.
No passado a função deste «castelinho» era ser a residência dos monarcas coroados, mas já virou a «Sede da Casa da Moeda» a «Mostra dos Animais do Reino» e serviu como local de execução e tortura. Viu, como o lugar é assombrado? Por isso que a «sent to the Tower» (mandado para a Torre), significa ser preso.

Beeindruckende Burganlage, derzeit mit tausenden Mohnblumen zum Gedenken der gefallenen Soldaten des 1. Weltkriegs geschmückt. Der Eintritt ist gehoben, muss man in London aber einfach gesehen haben — alleine wegen der Kronjuwelen.

Construite au XI siècle, la Tour de Londres est le monument le plus ancien de la ville et abrite actuellement les joyaux de la couronne.
Au cours de ses précédentes attributions au fil du temps, elle a servit notamment à protéger l’Angleterre de nombreuses invasions, fut le théâtre d’exécutions ou encore permit à la famille royale d’y résider.
Des personnes y vivent encore et ce sont celle ci qui sont chargés de s’occuper s’occupent des visiteurs, de veiller à l’ordre et d’assurer la protection des objets de valeurs déposés ici.
Il faut bien compter deux heures pleines pour découvrir comme il se doit cet imposant site-​musée.

Wer in London weilt, der «muss» in den Tower. Erstaunlich was man dort alles sieht. Das Highlight sind die Kronjuwelen. Super Ausstellung die einmalig ist und die man gesehen haben muss.

La (seule) mauvaise nouvelle pour commencer: le prix d’entrée est londonien, autrement dit prohibitif (à moins de né passer son temps que dans les musées publics gratuits type National Gallery), et le plus drôle est qu’il contient une «donation volontaire» d’environ 10% du total. Thanks but no thanks, comme disent les Britanniques, je donatione déjà 20 £ plus ou moins volontairement… On né montre aucune mauvaise volonté à la caisse pour vous faire payer le prix sec, alors allons-​y gaiement (ça paiera le dessert à la cafèt’).
Une fois ces désagréables formalités passées, la Tour de Londres a de quoi vous occuper une journée sans s’ennuyer ! Il y a plusieurs points d’intérêt dans l’enceinte du château, que ce soit les célébrissimes joyaux de la couronne, les bâtiments médiévaux, la White Tower qui est le donjon carré central, la chapelle, le tour des remparts… Intéressant aussi de voir que beaucoup est fait pour l’intérêt des enfants, que trop d’histoire d’un seul coup peut rapidement barber: il y a des explications abordables sans être gnangnan et même des jeux pour remettre un peu les bambins dans une atmosphère médiévale. Les plus grands seront captivés par quasiment un millénaire d’histoire, depuis la fondation de la Tour par Guillaume le Conquérant au 11ième siècle jusqu’aux derniers prisonniers de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. On peut se passer sans problème des audioguides (chers, de nouveau) si on a un bon Guide Vert ou équivalent.
Né loupez pas les visites guidées (gratuites ! si !) de l’extérieur et de la chapelle par les fameux beefeaters, les gardes de la Tour avec leurs uniformes et leurs chapeaux reconnaissables. S’il pleut, ce qui n’est pas complètement exclu à Londres, ils raccourcissent malheureusement la visite en zappant la partie extérieure (les lavettes !) pour né garder que la mini-​conférence dans la chapelle (qui s’y prête bien car tout le monde peut s’asseoir). Mais même dans ce cas elle vaut tout de même le coup, à condition de bien maîtriser l’anglais britannique.
En tous cas, c’est un passage obligé du Londres historique et touristique, et certainement une manière plus intelligente de se faire délester de 20 £ que de grimper en haut du Shard juste en face.

Beim Londontripp ist der Besuch des Towers und der Kronjuwelen einfach absolut Pflicht. -:)))
Die Sicherheitskontrollen sind sehr genau und intensiv. An den Kronjuwelen wird man auf einem Förderband, wie am Flughafen, vorbeigelotst. Alles sehr für den Tourismus aufgebaut, aber bei den Menschenmassen muss es so sein.
Sehr lange Wartezeiten für den Eintritt, früher die Gefangenen des Towers, wären froh gewesen wenn sie nicht hinein mussten -:)))

Para mi el mejor sitio y donde volvería fueron unos 50 € al cambio la pareja mas 9 € un libro explicativo pero el lugar es increíble y cargado de historia, las joyas de la corona, habitaciones de reyes, donde encerraban a la gente etc… En el interior los beffeater explican sobre la historia de todos sus maravillosos rincones pero como no sepas ingles malo… Visita obligada

Je vous entends déjà me dire: «Rooo ce cliché !!» (Jigmé T si tu me lis !)
Oui mais voilà, Londres ce n’est pas que du shopping sur Oxford Street, des brocantes à Portobello, des cupcakes chez Hummingbird Bakery, les Beatles qui traversent un passage piéton, des cabines téléphoniques rouge à chaque coin de rue, des fish&chips comme s’il en pleuvait… Vous voyez où je veux en venir ?!
Bref, la Tour de Londres n’était pas notre attraction première au départ mais nous recherchions quelques chose à faire qui sorte un peu de l’ordinaire et qui né soit pas loin du restaurant dont nous sortions (The Modern Pantry). Et hop direction la Tour de Londres et ses nombreux mystères historiques. Une fois arrivé sur place, vous êtes obligé de vous prendre au jeu ! Et une fois le plan du site en main, c’est simple, j’ai eu envie de tout faire ! Les différentes tours, les jardins, les joyaux de la Couronne, l’armurerie, fixer les corbeaux (va s’envoler ou va pas s’envoler ?) et ET la fameuse bloody tower qui n’est pas si extraordinaire que ça car en 5 minutes on avait fait le tour.
Possibilité de prendre des casques audio pour suivre l’histoire des lieux au gré de vos visites. Mais honnêtement, nous né l’avons pas pris et avons préféré faire la visite à notre sauce, c’est beaucoup plus fun et moins contraignant. Comptez d’ailleurs 1h30 à 2h pour une visite «à votre sauce» et le double si vous prenez soin de tout faire, tout lire, tout entendre. Côté prix, ça grimpe vite aussi: 21 £ par adulte (je vous laisse faire la conversion).
Ceci étant dit, je né regrette pas la visite qui a été instructive et ludique à la fois !
Petit +: La mise en scèné d’un village d’époque dans les jardins !

Der Tower of London gehört für mich nicht wirklich zu den Klassikern bzw. ist für mich persönlich kein Must-​See bzw. erste Priorität in London. Bei all meinen vielen London-​Besuchen habe ich ihn 2 – 3 Mal besucht und war eigentlich jedes Mal irgendwie enttäuscht von der Location selbst. Einzig empfehlenswert ist hier der Besuch der Kronjuwelen für denjenigen, der das mag. Ansonsten kann man natürlich die schwarzen Raben im Tower sehen und sich die Story dazu anhören (solange die Raben im Tower sind, geht das Empire nicht unter). Jo — klasse! ;-)

Der Tower of Londonfür 22 Pfund nicht günstig, aber sehenswert (am besten Tickets online reservieren, man spart sich Zeit)
Der ganze Gebäudekomplex ist hochinteressant und man sollte 2 Stunden Zeit einkalkulieren, sofern man nicht noch die Kronjuwelen anschauen möchte. Dann wären es nach der Schlange nach bis zu 4 Stunden.
Ansonsten imposant was der Gebäudekomplex so zu bieten hat, denn für jeden ist da was dabei

helau! hier kommt der charme einer ü-​50-​party an karneval auf. die touristenhorden schieben sich wie eine nicht enden wollende polonäse durch die alten gemäuer. statt gottlieb wendehals laufen wahlweise frabenfrohe beefeater oder dicke menschen mit in die luft gereckten schirmen vorneweg. der «narhallmarsch» und «viva colonia» wären auf den audioguides jedenfalls passender als geschichten über im tower hingerichtete prinzessinnen. egal. der tower ist spitze. und mit viel vorstellungkraft lässt sich das karnevalistische treiben ausblenden. die kronjuwelen haben wir ausgelassen, weil die warteschlange länger war als wenn c&a im wedding zum schlussverauf ruft. die audioguides (4 pfund oder 3 mit studentenauswies oder irgendwas, was so aussieht) lohnen. gleich zur öffnung kommen lohnt ebenso. genau wie das mitbringen von wasser und picknick. wiesen dazu gibts genug.

Der Tower ist eigentlich so eine Art Pflichtbesuchsprogramm für Londonreisen, neben Madame Thussauds, Wachablöse, Tower Bridge, Windsor, Westminster Abbey, St. Pauls Cathedral. Wie in Wien halt Stephansdom, Schönbrunn, etc…
Ich habe es zwar gesehen aber es war leider total überrannt. Wir mussten uns schonmal über 1 Stunde anstellen und dann ging man genau so in der Reihe wie man vorher angestellt war durch den Bereich durch wo die Kronjuwelen und so zu sehen sind. Da konnte man kaum stehen bleiben und schauen.
Berühmt sind auch die Raben im Tower:
Bei den Tower-​Raben handelt es sich um mindestens sechs Kolkraben, die im Tower of London gehalten werden. Dies geschieht bereits seit Jahrhunderten, so dass sich nicht mehr genau feststellen lässt, wann damit begonnen wurde. Karl II. befahl die Tötung der Tiere, als sein Astronom John Flamsteed (1646 – 1719) ihren Kot auf seinem Teleskop entdeckte.[1] Als ihm dann allerdings eine Legende erzählt wurde, die besagt, dass der White Tower, die Monarchie und das gesamte Königreich zugrunde gehen würden, falls die Raben jemals den Tower verließen, ließ er sich davon abbringen.[2]
Um die Vögel am Wegfliegen zu hindern, werden ihnen die Flügel gestutzt. Dies geschieht durch den Ravenmaster, der von den Yeomen Warders gestellt wird.
Der älteste Rabe, der je im Tower gelebt hat, hieß Jim Crow und starb im Alter von 44 Jahren.[3] Zwischen Februar und Juli 2006 wurden die Raben aus Angst vor der so genannten «Vogelgrippe» (H5N1) für einige Zeit ins Innere des Towers verlegt.
Die Namen der sechs Raben, die zur Zeit im Tower leben, sind Gwyllum, Thor, Hugine, Munin, Branwen und Baldrick.[4] Letzterer kam im Frühling 2005 in den Tower und wurde nach dem gleichnamigen Charakter aus der Fernsehserie Blackadder benannt.[4] Im Kontext des einstweiligen Höhepunkts der Finanzkrise im Oktober 2008 wurden weitere vier Vögel angeschafft

Den Tower sollte man auf jeden Fall besuchen, wenn man in London ist.
Die Burg Ihrer Majestät beherbergt heute die Kronjuwelen (Jewel House). Früher musste die Burg als Waffenkammer und Gefängnis für «Besserverdienende» herhalten.
Alles ziemlich für Touristen optimiert und selbst an den Kronjuwelen fährt man auf einer Laufstrasse vorbei, damit auch keiner zu lange stehen bleibt (eher ungewöhnlich aber im Ergebniss funktioniert das).
Neu für mich war der Bezug zur Deutschen Geschichte, da der letzte Insasse des Gefängniss der Stellvertreter Hitlers war — Rudolf Heß.

Visite enrichissante
Même si 17£ peut paraître beaucoup pour une visite, pour cette visite cela paraît rentable. La visite guidée par les Yeomen est très intéressante tout comme la visite de la tour blanche ou les bijoux de la reine.

Beaucoup trop cher
Les prix sont vraiment exagéré pour ce musée même si il reste très interessant. Les bijoux, la salle de torture (un peu vide quand même) les historiques corbeaux l’histoire de ce palais et donc aussi de Londres. C’est vraiment très interessant mais les prix sont casi inabordables…

La tour de Londres
Tout d’abord avant de commencer quoi ce soit, remplissez bien votre besace de livres sterlings (pounds in english), mais surtout né la rangez pas sous peine de devoir la sortir toutes les 5 minutes: tous les monuments de Londres sont payants, mais également très chers, il faut compter environ 10 livres pour l’entrée. La visite guidée est réalisée avec un nombre trop important de personnes environ une trentaine voire plus. La visite laisse quelque peu rêveuses les filles avec les joyaux de la couronne et le fameux diamant Koh-​i Nor et son mythe que seules les femmes peuvent porter cette couronne sous peine d’une mort rapide pour les hommes

Bien
C’est le premier monument que j’ai visité en arrivant à Londres. La célèbre «Tour sanglante», le prix est abordable et il ce vaut. La salle de l’artillerie est assez impréssionante, on voit tout les fusils qui sont «enroulés» autour de poteaux. Les bijoux de la famille royale sont impréssionants et pour les voir on rentre dans un coffre-​fort géant. Pour les couronnes c’est sur un tapis roulant… l’architecture est originale. Pas mal…

A voir si vous avez le temps !
C’est un grand monument de Londres mais il n’est pas essentiel à la visite de cette ville ! En effet, la visite est payante et qui dit payante à Londres, dit très très cher ! Donc si vous avez les moyens et le temps et vous êtes fans d’histoire, cette visite est à faire sinon juste à observer de l’extérieur pour apprécier l’architecture !

De l’Histoire…
…et beaucoup de touristes ! A faire bien sûr, mais on sent bien qu’en dehors de l’aspect historique de la chose, l’âme de Londres n’est plus là…

Un peu déçue
Oui c’est très cher, et la visite guidée est incompréhensible, sauf à être bilingue en anglais: le guide est entouré de quelques 50 personnes et parle à une vitesse impressionnante ! Impossible de poser une question ou de lui demander de répéter sans se faire lyncher ! Par contre, les bijoux de la couronne sont impressionnants ! a voir pour rêver ! (surtout pour les filles, les garcons de notre groupe ont plutot trouvé ca longuet, les diamands et autres pierres précieuses n’étant pas leur tasse de thé).

Attente longue mais… essentielle !
C’est vrai que j’ai fait la queue un bon bout de temps avant d’avoir mon billet… et c’est un peu cher. Mais je né vais pas à Londres tous les matins donc j’ai fait preuve de patience … Ca valait vraiment le coup surtout de voir la couronne ! Typiquement anglais quoi !

Un bijou !
Il est vrai que le billet n’est pas donné, mais vu que la plupart des musées sont gratuits, né rechignons pas devant cette dépense. Vous en apprendrez des belles sur l’histoire de la royauté britannique (des squelettes d’enfants retrouvé sous des escaliers). Et puis, le clou du spectacle ce sont les joyaux de la couronne !

Tower of London
La «Tour de Londres» est la plus belle attraction de Londres, mais reste très chère !! On sent tout de suite l’ambiance qui y règne et si on tend l’oreille, on entend les râles des personnalités qui y ont été enfermées… de plus les corbeaux avec leur cris acérés donnent une ambiance morbide… Tout y est très bien organisé, le circuit est bien fait… et les joyaux sont splendides. A faire.

Très Chère Tour de Londres
C’est l’un des joyaux de Londres avec son âge très avancé et cela se détache de la ville moderne, par son architecture mais il est merveilleusement restauré et l’on a l’impression que le temps n’a aucune emprise sur lui. C’est l’un des lieux les plus visités de Londres et ils l’ont bien compris, c’est pour cela que c’est si cher à visiter et c’est bien dommage parce que c’est magnifique. Au final, vous pouvez toujours admirer le splendide monument de l’extérieur parce que payer pour visiter la Tour d’accord, mais payer aussi cher pour voir les bijoux de la Reine c’est beaucoup moins intéressant que l’histoire de cette demeure.

A revoir !
Fantastique ce bond dans le passé, Henri VIII présent dans tout l’étalage de ses armures. L’histoire est au rendez vous, plus omniprésente qu’un livre d’histoire, les corbeaux gardiens sont là et les bijoux de sa majesté bien présentés. Bön souvenir, je n’ai pas tout vu et j’y suis restée une journée entière? Alors, imaginez le tarif d’entrée n’est vraiment pas exhorbitant. Bonne visite !

Les fameux bijoux de la couronne
Ceux qui ont lu «La marque jaune» se doivent d’aller visiter la tour de Londres pour: se rappeler la BD, la vue sur le Tower bridge, les non fameux bijoux de la reine devant lesquels on passé en tapis roulant pour né pas avoir le temps de trop les étudier, et l’ambiance agréable de cet endroit… Un peu cher comme tout à Londres!!!

Un peu chéro quand-​même!
Alors que la majeure partie des musées britanniques sont gratuits, la Tour de Londres reste payante! En plus, ce n’est pas donné. Il faut compter entre 8 et 10£ pour les tarifs réduits (y compris étudiants). C’est sans doute un endroit à voir, mais pas à revoir.

Génial
Il y a plusieurs expos, des armures jusqu’aux bijoux de la reine, tout ça dans une très belle forteresse et à deux pas de Tower Bridge !!!

Amateurs d’histoire? Allez y !
Vraiment pas mal, pour les amateurs de culture et d’histoire ou pour les simples curieux. Au final de la visite: Somptueux, les bijoux de la reine. Ca vaut le détour !
