We popped into Blue Dog before heading off for the night, and I have to say this was a great spot to start the night off right. This is a cocktail bar, and after I checked out the nightly special without even thinking I went for the Long Island Ice Tea, and then thought to myself, way to go playing it safe at an cocktail bar by ordering something you can have back at home. But before I could even get to upset with my choice the drink was right in front of me. It was a good looking Long Island Ice Tea, and I quickly got over the fact that I didn’t try something local, because these guys know what they are doing! Blue Dog has a great jazzy vibe to it, if we didn’t already have plans I would liked to stick around and hear some more music. If you haven’t stopped by Blue Dog, you really should, these guys know what they are doing!

My first time here, my guy and I started out our little date night pub crawl here with some classy drinks and a cheese board. It was really great. The atmosphere here is really great. The lights are dim, the music is great and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing is that the staff thought we had ordered our drinks when they brought out our cheeseboard(meaning they didn’t take any drink orders from us to start– when they normally would have), so we waited a while before being told we had to order(more) drinks at the bar. My guy opted for your basic mojito and I decided to go with a drink called bolt from the blue which had spiced rum, ginger liqueur, apple and earl gray liqueur, fresh blueberries, fresh muddled apple, fresh lime juice and fresh apple juice. It was pretty delicious! The cheeseboard, in my opinion could have used loads more oatcakes, but that’s just because I’m a cow and we had loads of cheese leftover. No bother, we ended up eating the cheese on it’s own and with the fruit and marmalade that came on the board. We only stayed for one drink and headed up the road, but I think this is a great place, and will definitely be back. They have a piano… I’d love to hear some tunes on that thing!

Ohhhh how have I missed out on the joys of Blue Dog for so long? Unilocal tells me I’ve been here three times(I can only remember two) and actually, I really like this as a bar. I think I always assumed it was for an older crowd but you can’t argue with their Top Dog drinks list. Top Dog is their membership programme — just ask at the bar and they’ll give you a card which means you can order standard cocktails, beers/spirits for really good prices. I got a strawberry daiquiri for £5 and there’s also standard mixers for £2.75. Both times I’ve visited recently we were the only people there, but that’s because it was 4pm on a Sunday. It’s a pretty dark bar inside, better suited to evening visits but they have an outdoor seating area too if you’re lucky enough to get a summer’s day.

Cocktails are on an above average scale to most places in Glasgow. The place is real small but if you can find a table, or a part of it. it really is a worthwhile lounge. Music is always up in most peoples classy alley, and it has a trendy lounge vibe I can’t hate. Especially for Saturday nights when things in Glasgow gets too loud & belligerent but you are dressed for a Saturday night of fun, Blue Dog delivers. They have a good mixup of live music with lounge, and I love the piano. This place is slightly above a four star rating but I can’t give it a five because they still have room to perfect their cocktails, especially at their prices. Slightly reminiscent of night club bar lines at times, and seating can be structured better? I want to be able to see the artists playing please!

OK, so I’m not a cocktail kinda dude, but I popped in here a while back with some friends. It had a very slick feel to it. Lots of dark wood, mood lighting and an awesome grand piano. The menus are fairly straightforward, and thankfully are clear on the prices. You really want to keep track of what you’re spending here — like with all cocktail places, it’s not particularly cheap. But you don’t want to accidentally order a few of the £25 ones! I ordered one of their mocktails. I can’t remember the name of it, but it was awesome — strong bitter orange, accented with fresh raspberries. The mocktail range here is excellent. I tried a friends alcoholic cocktail — it was a raspberry/strawberry taste explosion. If we’d been staying longer, I’d definitely have had one of these! All in all, we had a nice, quiet afternoon drink — I’d like to come back some evening(apparently it gets really busy then) and hear that piano being jazzed on.

This was on my «last night of drinking in Glasgow» tour. Despite being good and buzzed from having cocktails at Guy’s, I was still feeling classy not trashy, and Blue Dog delivered all the way. Giuliano whipped up killer hand-crafted cocktails while charming our socks off with witty banter. The atmosphere here is very chill and on this particular Wednesday night, we had a great guy on the guitar playing some good tunes. I didn’t get the name of the girl who was helping out Giuliano behind the bar but she was super sweet. They really made our night and I will definitely pop in again when I am in Glasgow again.

This has to be my favourite place to visit everytime i go to Glasgow! Delicious and sometimes unusual cocktails, ‘egg-whites anyone?’, great atmosphere and i love it when they have a live band in the corner on the grand piano!

One of the city centre’s few bars that serves actual cocktails, not just sweet mixed drinks masquerading as cocktails! Can get extremely busy so I’d recommend going on a week night to try some of their awesome cocktail menu. The staff are nice and seem to know their stuff, but some of them come across as a bit ‘cooler than thou’ so don’t go in if you’re having a low self-esteem day! I have a membership card(it’s free, sign up at the bar) and the deals are pretty impressive — currently you can get a Sidecar for a fiver(it’s my favourite!) and also bottled beer for under £3 which is extremely rare in such a nice place. If you work in town this might be your new favourite after-work spot!

Dead busy cocktail bar. Took forever for cocktails to arrive but when they did they were pretty damn good — at £8 a pop — I should hope so. I had a Tom Collins, which was mighty fine but turned out to be a glass containing approx 50% ice, 50% Collins. Not sure if this was a swizz or a saviour! There is allegedly a grand piano but it was way too busy to see it and by 11.30pm it seemed to be mainly not live music coming through the speakers. A good choice of bar if you can be bothered with hitting the city centre on a Saturday night and are happy enough to stand. Mixed age range and friendly door staff.

Visited this with some friends on a Friday night, pre-dinner for a drink and then post dinner after being turned away from the Tingle Bar for being too old. Great cocktail menu, well made cocktails. When we arrived back later on, it was jumping. Piano player on the go playing some great tunes and more cocktails. Great atmosphere. No upper age limit and open till 3am. What more can you say? Will be back.

I absolutely love this place. Blue Dog, you can be my new favourite bar of all time. Cocktails, a grand piano in the corner being played and just general fabulousness all packaged up is what this place is. Colin and I went in for drinks after Hairspray at the Kings on Tuesday night. The place is open till 3 most nights, and at weekends there’s normally a pianist on till close, but on Tuesday there wasn’t. The temptation to go up was absolutely killing me. The substantial cocktail menu got my seal of approval and I sampled a few — all delicious. The staff are all so well dressed and make each cocktail with ease — even if you ask for something not listed. You can also get a blue dog card, which gets you specific discounts and deals depending on what’s written on the«Blue Dog Card Holders» board on the wall, which is good because it’s a pretty expensive bar to stay in for a substantial period of time. Fab place though, shall be back more than once!

J’adore le chien bleu! Terrible parlez-vous francais-ing aside, remain a loyal fan of this place and have been for years now. The guys in here really know what they’re doing and it’s never been a problem for them to whip you up a drink that’s not on the menu! The cocktails are fairly pricey but absolutely worth it. In the case of cocktails, I find you really do get what you pay for(hands up who’s had one of those awful pitchers of ”Cosmopolitan” that’s 90% cranberry and ice and not much else just ’cause it was a fiver… Thought so!) and I have no problem forking out a few more quid when I know the quality is this high. My main gripe with this place is that it goes from dead to mobbed reeeeally quickly, and the chances are that after 8pm-ish, you’re not getting a seat in here at the weekend. Not great if you’re starting the night off standing about.

I have now been to this bar on several occasions and on all of them have always felt very welcome and relaxed. The bar is spacious with numerous comfortable seats, however, a couple of large parties would fill the bar easily. I have often passed this bar and felt rather under dressed in my usual attire. I have been in this bar for both a leaving do in which I was suited and booted like the rest of the establishment and I have been in wearing my In flames hoodies with cargo trousers. On both times its still a nice place! The staff are lovely and welcoming and on a good night, play a great song list. I think it was the managers song list that night(I didn’t mind as there was lots of CCR). So the cocktail menu! Just get your ass there and try it. All of it! I don’t care if you have to remortgage your house to drink in it just try all the beautiful cocktails. My personal favourite is a super zombie. At twenty two pounds it is pricey but I feel worth it. As you have probably guessed by the last two statements this place is pricey. However, I would ask that you place this aside and judge the place only on the cocktails themselves. If you do you will see a great bar that is worth going back to time and time again!

How wrong was I?! So for years I’d turned my wee snozzle up at this joint thinking it simply an office workers post work drinking joint that’s just full of suits, overpriced drinks and folks with fake tan. Well people, I’m here today to tell you I was wrong. Wandering in here after a few drams at The Pot Still I was pretty surprised to see that the airport waiting room type establishment that I had always consided this place to look like, was infact a nice wee snug joint that’s been decked out to simply ooze cool and laid back vibe. After a quick chat with the bar dude, a quite stunning whisky cocktail(including Ardbeg) was thrust into our gobs, quickly followed by noises of appreciation and affirmative head nodding. I will return to this place. I will hang my head in shame for not having done so until now. Here I go *hangs head in shame* See, I told you.

Right, I adore cocktails, but usually the sort you get most pubs and clubs are watered down and rubbish. I admittedly also don’t like to spend too much, so the prices at Blue Dog made me gulp a bit. Didn’t matter, the short drink I got was worth every penny – quality booze without skimping, mixed by someone who knew what they were doing and served in a classy manner. The barstaff were cheerful young souls who Knew Their Stuff. They were happy to come up with some creative drinks and make change for a group of young burds who weren’t likely to be spendy early on a Friday night. The music was quiet, allowing for us to talk, which for me is critical in a cocktail bar. Only reason there aren’t five stars here is because the place smelled a bit like cleaning solution, and I could see it would get a bit crowded in a not-fun way once business picked up. This is my new favourite drinking establishment in Glasgow.

Cocktails + Jen = happy. Good cocktails + Jen = SUPER happy. Blue Dog is a classy-ish establishment, a lovely cocktail bar, and one of the big perks for me is it’s open until 3am. When most bars have shut up shop and I don’t want to dance, but keep drinking or chatting the night away, you’ll find me in Blue Dog. The cocktails are really, really good. I have since had better(they were connosieur, and deserved every single one of the 5 stars) but the barstaff here are still professional mixologists who know what they’re doing. The signature Blue Dog is a favourite, but my go-to is always a caiprinha and the Dog make them strong. Make that 4 for me! There is live music, and it’s a shame the piano player has been ditched. It’s not very big so can be hard to get a seat. The usual clientelle is far from the Fresher’s crowd, and can be a bit suits-and-egos at times, but no one gives you any hassle and I certainley have never felt out of place. Many-a-time I’ve stayed until closing which, on a Saturday night in Glasgow, is a compliment. Sometimes things can go downhill around the 2am mark but Blue Dog has kept it classy everytime I’ve been(although does sitting on the stairs with the barman sharing a samosa at 2.40am count as «keeping it classy»? My best friend being the guilty subject.)

A bar with live piano music in Glasgow? Glasgow? Did they know what they were doing? Well, it seems so. This bar has some cracking staff and knowledgable too. I had one of the best Old Fashioneds I’ve had in the city here and enjoyed it emensley with the piano music tinkering away in the background. I highly recommend the Coffee and TV cocktail as its made with Patron XO Café — perhaps the best coffee flavoured tequila on the market! £6 a cocktail isn’t as bad as it may sound as you are paying for top notch service and the nice surrondings. This place does it’s trade at night, and late night, so it’s a good stop out for an after work drink of if you fancy having a drink after normal pub hours without going to a club. Very good service and the some of the best cocktails in the city. Magic

Blue Dog is my favourite cocktail bar, it has such a nice atmosphere that I’ve never experienced in any other bars in Glasgow. I have to admit, the recent change of the cocktail menu is strange as they seem to have taken off all the good ones. Hopefully they will come to their senses soon! They used to have a cocktail called a Chocolate Mintini which was Baileys, chocolate liqueur, mint liqueur and fresh cream. It was amazing and was served with a little selection of chocolate. I am gutted they don’t do it anymore as I used to get so excited even just thinking it! They also have entertainment which is nice, a magician who has a lot of good tricks up his sleeve and a girl who sings and plays the piano, I really like it when she’s there as she has a beautiful voice and you can just chill and sip away on your cocktail. I have many nice memories of nights in Blue Dog and I’m sure I’ll have many more, I just hope they bring back the Chocolate Mintini!

I love how luxurious and indulgent going for a cocktail seems and there is nothing quite as grand as sipping a carefully concocted cocktail at the bar of the Blue Dog. My boyfriend and I headed here for a celebratory drink after my graduation and it certainly fitted the bill. I had a the Blue Dog cocktail itself which was delicious and my boyfriend opted for a lovely masculine pink, strawberry one(which he attempted to pass off on me, claiming I must be jealous when I was quite happy with my glam blue one hehe). They were pricey(around £6 each) but you don’t mind spending that on a special occasion and they taste divine. You feel truly spoiled here. Somehow it manages to maintain a relaxed atmosphere. Despite its grandeur you wouldn’t be out of place in here in fairly casual attire(smart-casual right enough). Lovely little place that I will keep coming back to when I want a treat.

I’ve been coming here a couple of years now, and though the new cocktail menu is a bit hit and miss, it’s probably still my favourite place in Glasgow. Blue dog is a proper old style cocktail bar complete with pianists, jazz bands or a magician, depending on what night you visit. it’s one of the only high-end bars I’ve been to that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard, and it’s this effortlessness and relaxed feel that keeps me coming back here. The staff are also quite friendly, one guy even went to the shop to get egg whites for a cocktail I’d ordered. There should be more places like this. P. S. ask for a Wichita Julip. It’s not on the menu anymore but they usually still make it.
