Darren is the man, absolute gem when describing the lovely selection of wheat beers that i couldn't take my eyes off. I got do distracted i left some shopping in the store as i left. Darren made sure they were safely stored away and made me feel better about making such a silly mistake upon collection

BEERTASTINGREVIEW Last night I experienced my first beer tasting event, I’ve been on a few tours but never anything specifically geared towards taste, courtesy of The Good Spirits Co. Now I’m not ashamed to admit I like a pint of Tennents every now and again but I also enjoy a craft beer or two or three or in this case 10! Not pints I should add but ten samples starting from pilsners up to darker stouts and porters. The guide was clearly knowledgable about the beers and perhaps could have spent more time in his comfort zone as opposed to giving us the science read from sheets although some parts were interesting. The impact that social responsibility has on the price of your favourite microbrews is something that I had rather foolishly never considered and the selection was very wide with choices made to really challenge your palate. I think I would have given the night five stars if there wasn’t a bit of a rigmarole when one of our group was unable to make it. Whilst I agree with the no refund policy the beer was still there to be drunk but somehow this was taken away meaning money for nothing. There was a token gesture towards the end but it was a bit late. I’d definitely go again though and I’ll be popping into the shop far more regularly now I know more about it.

I’d been meaning to visit since this place opened and finally made it on Sunday. It’s by the Good Spirits Co folk(obviously) and specialises in beer and wine(again, obviously). I’m already a massive fan of what Good Spirits do at their original location so it’s great to see them expanding. This shop is quite small but they’ve managed to fit in a huge range of interesting beers and wines. I wasn’t after anything particular so just did a bit of a random swoop of the store and grabbed 3 beers and a cider which came to about £10 which is totally reasonable. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the city centre looking for some good beers as I can’t think of any other great beer shop like this in town. Win.

The new offshoot from the brother round the corner, and it is as good as we all were hoping for. Only stocking the beer and wine part of the business allows the guys to bring more stock back to the spirits part of the business while also expanding the beer selection and adding a long waited specialist wine area. The staff are great and know their stuff, the stock is continually changing making sure there is always something new and tasty to buy and try. For such a small unit there is a lot to offer and enjoy.

The only thing I could ask of this business is that it stay open just a little later. Everything else is exactly what I would hope for but I am disorganised and lazy and I’ve arrived at it’s doors ten minutes too late too many times. I’ve been successful in arriving on time on two occasions. For the first I needed a bottle of wine. I like wine, but I don’t really know much about it and my usual approach is to buy whatever’s cheap-ish or on offer at the supermarket. On this occasion I decided to splash out and picked up a bottle of red for £13. Shock horror — I could have had three bottles for that price in Lidl! It turned out to be a mistake, not because the wine was unpleasant, quite the opposite. It turns out that expensive wine can be really, really good. So now I know I like expensive wine… which could be problematic. On the second occasion I needed beer. I chose three different bottles, based mostly on the fact that I liked the labels. The gentleman running the cash register grinned knowingly at me and informed me that I’d chosen three of his favourite beers. Good to know and, as it turns out, he and I have very similar tastes. He was also kind enough to help my partner choose a couple based on other beers my partner likes. Apparently they were also pretty great. There are a few good beer and wine shops in Glasgow now, but the city centre did need one quite badly and Good Spirits Wine & Beer has solved that problem perfectly.

Great Craft Beer & Wine shop for beer & wine geeks alike! Very easy to become a regular there since the selection is fantastic and a very central location which is even better. Their beer stock range from great Scottish breweries such as Tempest and the mighty Brewdog, the English breweries the awesome Beavertown to Thornbridge, The U. S Founders brewery to Stone brewery, and amazing other European breweries from Germany & Belgium etc to name but a few. If you like a wide selection of beers and wine then this is the place for you. They also have a spirits/liqueur store round the corner from it and down the stairs, with a great selection of whisky’s and lots of other spirits thats worth a ganter.
