The pizza wasn’t half bad. The service was nonexistent. Ordered at the bar… then the server came by. And then another. Then no one… Left 20 £ on the table to cover our bill.

So… mixed feelings about this place. If you’re mad about ciders, this place is great. They only have about 4 beers on draft, but 10+ ciders(and a cider tasting flight). As for their pizza… I loved their topping combos(we had three different ones, the Texas bbq was the winner, in my opinion); BUT, their pizza crust left a lot to be desired. I can(easily) make better pizza crust at home. The pie we had was good, but I thought the size was a bit small(especially compared with the pizza). Service was reasonably efficient(order everything at the bar, food brought to table). This place is pretty big and loud(good for kids), though it gets busy and you may have to wait for a table.

Had lunch here on Saturday. Nice harbourside venue, pizza was amazing(roast lamb) and a plethora of ciders to choose from. Downside, was quite pricey, I live in London and this place was definitely London prices, was expecting a bit cheaper. also, the way in which tables were allocated was a bit weird. Overall would go again — def try the roast lamb pizza, nom :)

If you like cider then this place is definitely worth a visit. I have been here 3 times and its has changed slightly since it opened. We went on a Friday after work and they tried to seat us to eat straight away but if you only want a drink you have to go outside or on ‘the stage’ which is a small area at the back. This seemed a bit strange as it has taken away from the relaxed atmosphere and I think trying to get maximum profit from their lovely(but expensive) pizzas! We did request to sit at a normal table and said we would move if someone needed it before we were ready to eat which was strange. The pizza toppings are brilliant and tasty but the base is very thin so difficult to pick up and a bit messy. I think for a bar on the waterfront it is one of the best ones but it needs to remember it is a drinking establishment and not just a restaurant only! I think I will give it a miss next time and try somewhere else.

I was recently on a hen do in Bristol and we needed somewhere for lunch. My two friends and I were tasked with finding someone last minute for 18 hungry ladies and the bride had let slip she was hankering for a pizza. After strolling around and reeling off the usuals we stumbled across this place and looked longingly at a massive free table of this pizza/pie place, ‘perfect’ was banded around if only we could have that table. So we took the plunge and went in! The guy who seated us was so nice and helpful and wasn’t even that fazed by seating 18 people. All seated we then remember there was a party member who had to have gluten free and vegetarian, no problemo! They have gluten free options too! Phew! We perused the menu and had a very tough time deciding on what to have out of all of the very nice options and there was some serious order envy going on when the food did arrive. I eventually decided on the lamb bam boogie pie and wasn’t disappointed! It came with lovely big wedges, chutney and a pickled onion. Just one, strange but enjoyable! But in all honesty I could have eaten any of the things on the table. We weren’t in any condition to try them but they have a large cider selection and you can even buy a sampler of 6 different ciders. This place is perfect for groups, families, couples or even singles. Everyone pays before for their own food in advance nando’s style and there’s plenty of choice and stuff to suit everyone! What a find!

Great casual dining with a specialty in cider. I stopped counting cider choices at 57.000. If you’re a novice like me, get today’s tasting board, and then pick the style you like out of those five and get a pint of that style to round out the evening. The pizza toppings are pretty good – My choice was the roast lamb, which comes with root veggies. Nom. Bear in mind that this is a Roman style cracker crust with no chew. It’s a style to itself and worthy of eating. But Yanks(of which I am one) may feel a bit cheated if they expect a chewy pizza – Not happening here. Within the style, it’s incredibly well done though. Others complain but I really like the beer-hall seating.

The Stable is a pizza restaurant in an excellent position by the waterside, close to The Centre. The most memorable thing about The Stable is the uncomfortable bench seating. After about 30 minutes I was thinking that I didn’t really want to be there much longer. Unfortunately, the staff were slow and inattentive. The pizza itself wasn’t particularly good. What I had seemed undercooked and could have done with more oven time.

The pizza here is spectacular! I had the«billy the kid» and I was all about the caramelized onion and goat cheese. They also have a great deal on cider tastings so I’m ready to go back anytime. The only downside is the ordering process, I’m just not a big fan of having to go up to the counter to place my order.

A great addition to the buzzing waterfront bars and restaurants. If you’re a cider drinker, or indeed showing the city to someone who’s never been before, stop off here for a cheeky one — they have a huge range of ciders on offer. The place is large, and cosy — exposed brick walls, long benches with candles on, which encourage strangers to sit together to create atmosphere or are perfect for large groups. The open kitchen spans almost the entire length of the building, showing the chefs working frantically on PIZZA orders. And, WOW, the Pizza — super fresh ingredients, and stonebaked in the oven, producing some of the most delicious Pizza known to man or woman. My personal favourites are The Fresh Hawaiian — Locally smoked ham, tomato, mozzarella, fresh pineapple, avocado and chilli The Portishead Piggy — Smoked Sandridge Farm bacon, local field mushrooms, tomato and mozzarella. Topped with a free-range egg. Most are priced around £10. And these 2 are particularly awesome. Egg on a pizza –amazing!!! I believe they do other dishes like sales and pies too, but I’m always way to side tracked by the Pizza.

Pizza, cider and bench seating !! Is this the coolest pizza joint in town… I think so. It’s the type of place you go sample a few ciders eat awesome pizza and socialise. I wouldn’t say it’s the type of place you stay all night but it makes a great starting point. The pizzas are very reasonable and really tasty, the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly although i would recommend taking a fan because it is hot hot hot in here especially after the chilli oil !!!

Not the best, but not half bad. Went for tuck in Tuesday where for ten of your finest British pounds you can get half a cider, unlimited salad and either a pizza or a pie with more salad and chips alternative. OK so they don’t always have all the pies on the menu and the waitress was slightly confused when I asked if the pies come with chips?, was told, no, and then when I asked if they come with a chip alternative?, was also told ‘no’. In reality the pies come with potatoe wedges. Definitely a chip alternative in my eyes. Oh and more salad, cause the unlimited salad isn’t enough salad! They do side pots of naga chillis for an extra pound. Now that’s the hot stuff I love! Couldn’t fault the cider or the bighorn pizza. mmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Incredible pizza shame about the 55 minute wait. Popped in for what I expected to be a quick pizza only to be frustrated by the long wait after ordering. The place wasn’t too busy as it was 1230 on a sunday. Had a long horn jim, the meats & flavours were fantastic & at 13.50 I was very happy as the quality was high. While you may pay less less else where you wouldn’t get the same flavours anywhere else! Great range of cider on tap & bottles with large open tables for communal seating it could get cosy during busy hours. Service was polite and friendly but the wait did truely disappoint when hungry & just grabbing a bite to eat however if you plan for this sample the alcohol then this would be a great place to have some amazing food!

Cider and pizza — up there with beer and curry as one of the best food/drink combo’s known to man. The Stables is a relatively new venue on Bristol Harbourside that specialise in big pizzas and boxed cider. The restaurant itself is huge, with long benches and tables that makes it perfect for large groups. It is super casual and always has a real buzzing atmosphere — because it always seems to be busy! I’ve been a few times now and had a few of the pizzas. They do a pork pizza which was far too salty, it was almost inedible. But the spicy pizza is off the chain! Loads of flavour and the naga chilli blows your head off. I love spicy food so it was right up my street. They also do a pizza with an egg in the middle — which looks really good. If you’re not a pizza lover then they do really good pies as well. The food is cooked in an open kitchen which I really like. Behind the bar they have about a dozen boxes of cider. You can order a tasting tray which I think gives you 51⁄3 pints and you can chose which ones you want. I love flat ciders so this was perfect for me. To go with the casualness of The Stables, you have to go to the bar to order food and pay. Which is pretty old school but it works. I imagine with the amount of large groups it probably makes life a lot easier for them to do it this way. I really don’t have any negatives about the stables.

I’d attempted to visit this place a few times previously and was told that a table would an hour wait or so on one occasion. There are very few places I’d wait an hour for a table so I gave it a miss. This place is known for it’s pies and pizza, the kings of carbohydrates and an unusual combination of the food world. The first thing to notice about The Stable is that you have to go to the bar to order the food. This is fine when the place is empty(as it was on this occasion) but when the place is heaving with people all waiting to order? I think not. The second thing you’ll notice is the lack of choice, the menu has a relatively small selection of things, a bit like an airline — chicken, beef or a green option. I opted for the Chicken and Ham pie which when it arrived was fine, nothing special and certainly not hot enough. It was accompanied by a small heap of anaemic looking potato wedges which had the unusual quality of being burned to a crisp in areas yet uncooked in others. Also on the plate was a green salad with an unusual dressing that couldn’t make up it’s mind as to what it was. In summary, a below average experience.

I am not normally a pizza fan, but the pizza here was absolutely delicious. I got the fire balls of meat pizza, and it was super good, coupled with cider tasting board. The place is huge, and it’s in a nice location by the water. You have to make your order at the bar and pay in advance, and the only waiter service there is would be serving you your food.

This place just opened a week ago, but it’s a great set up for groups. Really friendly staff. Everyone orders at the bar and food is served on wood platters. I got a great chicken and leek pie and would recommend the beesting cider! Hope to see The Stable do well!
