I met a friend for lunch at the watershed café today, I have been to the watershed many times but mainly either just for a drink or to go to the cinema — their cinebabies weekly showings of films for parents with children under 1 are excellent but more about that another day! I arrived before my friend and decided to change my babies nappy before we ate, the baby changing facilities were in the ladies toilet(great for me as I am indeed a lady, not sure if they had any facilities that a man could use to change a nappy) the changing table was clean and there was plenty of room for my 13 month old. I then found a table and managed to move the furniture round a little bit and grabbed a high chair, the high chair was perfect for my child but may not have been so great a few months ago when she was smaller as it didn’t have a tray and didn’t have a back but as I say great for us right now. My friend arrived and we ordered food. There was a good selection of lighter meals but also bigger meals too. I ordered a jacket pot with cheese and tuna and my friend had falafel, the food arrived pretty quickly which was good as my friend was on his lunch break so only had an hour, unfortunately they forgot my cheese but quickly and without question brought out a big pot of grated cheese. The jacket potato was fluffy on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside, it came with a delicious side salad and the cheese was really tasty mature cheddar cheese, the tuna had just the right amount of mayo with it. I washed it down with a pint if draft cider(I think it was bounders) which was a bit of a treat on a school day lunch time ! They did have a good choice of children’s food but my little one likes to share mine so we didn’t get her anything separate. The café was busy but not too busy so there was a nice buzz about the place and not so quiet that I couldn’t have a good old gossip with my friend. So a cheap and cheerful lunch for under £6 in a nice airy café was a great way to spend a Thursday lunch time !

I really wanted to like this place. the staff were so accommodating when I asked to vary my breakfast order(veggie, no wheat), but sadly it was not great. I know a cooked breakfast is not the healthiest of choices but I’ve never had mushrooms cooked in a deep fat fryer before(you could wring the oil out of them) or scrambled eggs swimming(literally) in oil. A true heart attack on a plate.

Bustling place that has good drinks and food. Ingredients are organic, local or seasonal ingredients and fish is from sustainable sources, they say. Wifi and even computers for costumer use. A few tables outside on a small balcony.

Café is upstairs from the entrance lobby. Excellent and relaxed venue for a spot of lunch, particularly if vegetarian as most dishes fall into this category. Nice location too. The clientele seem to range from the«arty» type, probably there for the cinema to the business types there for conferences. High chairs available for babies.

a really nice relaxed bar/pub, as it is removed from the street on the first floor only those in the know go there, which measn even on a fri/sat evening u can enjoy a pint without the unsavoury hordes bothering u! also do some really top notch food, nachos is a winner

A very nice café on the first flow of this Arthouse cinema. It occasionally hosts special events such as flamenco dancing or or performances during Spanish film week. The food is good quality and the prices are reasonable too. As a plus, you get quite a good view of the floating harbour and the boats below.

This is an art-house cinema, showing more unusual flicks than you’d find somewhere like Vue or Odeon. They’ve coupled it with a café/bar/restaurant, that has a great beer selection and a rather strange atmosphere. Getting drunk in a café is a bit weird. The prices are reasonable, given its harbourside location.

I’ve gone here for meals even if I’m not viewing a film at the attached cinema. There is a wide selection of cold and hot foods, some are standards(like jacket potatoes) and some are seasonal. There are veggie options and some interesting combinations. I don’t think it’s overpriced, especially since it’s of good quality. The bar has a good selection of drinks. You can eat in the main area(which can get a bit loud when crowded) or in the side areas. They have recently added a small balcony, so if the weather is nice, this gives you an option of the outdoors with a view of the waterfront.

Often used for informal creative business meetings, this bar has a good menu and drinks list, which is sprawled across the top of the bar for you to crane your neck at. It also has a good atmosphere, quite relaxed, though it can get very loud in the evenings. New outdoor seating has made this bar even more popular over the Summer. It’s a good place to sit back and watch the conference delegates, cinema-goers, jobbing ‘creatives’, and coffee-drinking retired people, or to be any of these people yourself. A favourite new addition to the bar is the high quality breakfast bun. Focacia bread, sausage, bacon, egg, and a big grin. A bit posh but very satisfying.

This is a large Café Bar overlooking the waterfront, its part of the Watershed Cinema and Media centre. The café bar is always busy and buzzing. The food is quite good but expensive for what it is. For example olives and sun-dried tomatos, so I normally just have a lager or a coffee. The Watershed’s customers include fans of the arts and independent cinema and some of them can seem a little pretentious!

The food and the atmosphere in the Watershed Café Bar, on Bristol’s Waterfront are of a really high standard. Lunchtime is a good time to visit, as there are lots of people here, lots of conversation to be heard, and although you may have to wait a couple of minutes for a table, it’s usually well worth the wait! The menu available is vast, and they sometimes have specials too. The prices are really reasonable — in fact two people can eat out at lunchtime, drink a glass of wine each and still pay a bill of no more than twenty pounds — thats a real bargain!
