A firm favourite of ours and suprisenly not for the magic so much but the live music artists you usually find around 10pm. The atmosphere lends to an Informal dance floor and you can dip off to watch the magic at a designated bar if that takes your fancy. Drinks prices are pretty standard for the triangle area. It can get a little busy at the bar and watch the step down I to the loos — yes I’ve found myself crumpled on the floor before now! That maybe due to the floating vodka jelly shot lady doing the rounds!

Not a very nice place at all, absolutely filthy and quite expensive for what it is. Didn’t watch any magic but I wish I had because maybe they could of made me disappear !! Not really anymore I can say about this one Rubbish

Arrived late in the night, bar full of older scummy men. One girl in the group had her bottom slapped and the bouncer didn’t do much about it Maybe when the students are back the scene will change but wouldn’t go here late again.

Who said sitting in a bar could be boring? Well this place offers mind boggling magicians, live music and«magic wands» anything but boring in my opinion. The classic order for any 1st timer at this venue is the meter high magic wand cocktail tower. It may be tricky to carry and they do ask for a deposit but it really is a lot of fun and games! Also after a few drinks the magicians seem to be doing even more impossible stunts leaving you feeling a little bit bewildered but wanting more. This is a real classic of Bristol even if the venue is on the small side it delivers none the less!

What bizarre reviews! This is an awesome bar, can’t believe it’s only got 2 stars! It’s a pretty small place, with a cocktail bar and a magic bar, so nobody thrusting magic in your face but if you want to(which you obviously should) then you can go and sit up there and watch the magician who is AWESOME. I love magic! The«magic wand» multiple-pint cocktail receptacle is also pretty awesome and you can get some great deals on drinks. A must-visit!

Popular among students, the basic concept for Illusions is appealing indeed. What more novel than a magic bar, after all? The reality is that other than a few cheesy decorative choices Illusions seems to have little magic most of the time. Instead what it offers are cheap, sugar cocktails served in fish bowls. I’ve never been much of a fan of cheap cocktails — I think of them like food, unless they’re good quality(which you invariably have to pay for) you’re better off sticking to a cheaper drink. The décor is as cheap and cheerful as the drinks are. All in all it’s not bad place, exuberant, lively and good value for money but a little too garish for my tastes.

llusions Magic Bar is famous for 1 thing: giant cocktails! Served in both fish bowls and ‘magic wands’…Mmm just like Magaluf, I imagine. Illusions Magic Bar is usually where you’d start a night out, a lively atmosphere and always busy. There are loads of different cocktails on offer, big bench like tables for large groups of people and some ‘alternative’ entertainment. Illusions is good value, cocktails that big are not going to come cheap but as they are usually purchased by a group of you it ends up being pretty cheap and regular drinks, i.e. beers and mixers, are no more expensive that what you’d expect to pay in Bristol city centre. I could not talk about this bar without mentioning the magicians. Every night I have been there have been magic shows, with card tricks, wand work and pyrotechnics! Great entertainment, if you’re a Harry Potter fan(I am not). Illusions Magic Bar offers something slightly different. But be warned the sweaty ceilings. Hopefully they have got their air conditioning fixed, but if not, phew! It gets’s hot in there. The big mural on the side of the building, which I’m certain must be of famous magicians does look like it includes giant images of John Terry and José Mourinho. A cheap laugh for a cheap guy.

Unlike the other reviewers, I went on a Wednesday. On Wednesdays the crowds were minuscule. In fact, the place was so barren it was to it’s detriment. A couple of old men sang karaōke with all the charm of a BNP politician whilst one of the magicians fed me a sob story to give him a bigger tip. Still, the pint was cheap, the leather sofa comfortable and the magic tricks were outstanding. Don’t expect to walk out saying WOWHE’S MAGICFORREAL! but do expect to be genuinely confused and befuddled as to how they pluck lemons from your ears or an ace of spades from your cleavage. A bit of fun, but maybe avoid Wednesdays if you’re up for a bit more atmosphere.

Firstly I want to just say how genius this place is! Whoever thought of starting a bar with regular magic shows as entertainment had a great idea, and this place is definitely worth a visit one evening! Thursday nights are without a doubt my favourite — largely due to the drink deals they offer on cocktails. Normally priced at £6 a cocktail, on Thursdays they offer a buy one get one free deal all night making them very affordable especially for students! Entry is free, and you can be amazed and entertained by professional magicians all night long. The magicians take frequent breaks, but are on at least every hour and perform twenty minute slots of their magic tricks — which are absolutely brilliant! The bar itself is attractive and has a good atmosphere; there are several tables which are available to reserve if you and your friends want to guarantee a seat for the night! In my opinion the window seat is one of the best, and you can fit about ten of you around this table. Overall I have nothing bad to say about this place — and would even go so far to say it is probably one of my favourite bars in Bristol, or at least on Park Street! Definitely give it a visit.

— Intimate setting, magic shows and live acts — this place is brilliant. You can get a ‘magic wand’ cocktail for £20 which holds over 5 litres of alcohol. The magician is really good — I spent the rest of the evening wondering how he managed to perform the tricks but he was just too good for me ;) The music is a refreshing change from the standard chart-toppers you will hear booming out if the other bars on the Triangle. The bar is relaxed and chilled, and you could easily end u staying the whole evening here.

Illusions magic bar is cheesiness personified, and I love it. I can’t admit to going regularly, but when I have been I’ve always had a really good time. The crowd is quite studenty; always relaxed and sociable and the drinks are relatively cheap for Clifton. There are two bars; the magic bar and the liquor bar. The magic bar is always inevitable packed and you may have to wait a long time to get close enough to see what’s going on. But it’s always a laugh and a good place to go for a couple of drinks on a night out. There’s live music on Friday and Saturday nights and golden oldies playing on the juke box the rest of the time. Illusions won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a laid back bar with a touch of magic.

This is yet another place I’m dragged into whenever I’m out with my friends, for reasons I can’t quite fathom. I think, but I could be wrong, the main reason we go in here is because it’s so naff it’s good. Personally, I grew out of liking things ironically a few years ago so the joke is lost on me. Basically, and as the name suggests, this place is posing itself as some sort of magic bar where you can watch real magic performers performing their tricks before your very eyes. Well I’ve been here 3 or 4 times and there was some magic going on somewhere in the bar, but it’s always far too crammed full of people to be able to see anything. Not that I’m particularly interested in the first place. The music is predominantly retro and for me definitely the best thing going for this place. They also have the occasional live act playing which can be good, but again the place is far too small to warrant it. P. S. the toilets in this place are terrible.

If you’re in here, try one of their special tube based cocktails which comes with its own minitap. They look amazing, aren’t that expensive in comparison and mean that you don’t have to run to the crowded bar so often. And as the name implies, the table magician is also worth watching, if you’re not too busy listening to the baby grand in the corner that is. worth getting in as this place is quite small and fills up quite quickly!

A decent location and drinks selection. However the piano player tends to play too loud and ruin songs. However the magicians are impressive.
