If you are missing Brazilian food, you can go to Las Iguanas. I recommend the vegetarian moqueca :) Veggie and vegan menu available.

I used to love Las Iguanas. I used to love their food and their cocktails. Especially the quesadillas! Alas the stories in the news lately about the tips policy has made me take a principled stance against Las Iguanas, if the stories about staff being forced to give a certain percentage of each table’s final bill value to their managers(regardless of how much the table tips) are to be believed… Until I hear some good news about this kind of policy being revoked, sadly I will not be enjoying the food and drinks here. Which is a shame, because the cocktails have recently got really good.

I’ve been meaning to do a review for Las Iguanas for a while! It’s somewhere I go once in a blue moon, but it’s in a good location for me so always quite a good place to go to if your meeting people in town. It’s always packed in the bar area and thats mainly because of the 2−4−1 happy hour on cocktails all day Sunday to Wednesday and until 7.30pm Thursdays to Saturdays. The Cocktails are alright you know! They are a little bit steep in price but to be honest, when are cocktails ever expensive??! I’ve also found sometimes actually that their drinks taste a little weak. I got a pitcher before and it just tasted like cranberry juice! I’ve eaten here for food a few times, never been disappointed, the service is good, very personal. I would say that the food is a little small in the portion sizes, which in a way leaves you wanting more! But they do a great Tapas! All in all, a good place to go!

Having been to Las Iguanas restaurants elsewhere in the country, I was looking forward to my visit yesterday lunch hour. My friend and I went at 1pm, and I was surprised to see the place so empty close shortly after noon. Our server was obviously new, so we did not complain when he made a few mistakes with our orders. Even though we didn’t get quite what we ordered(our chicken and mushroom burritos had no chicken, and the raspberry cooler my friend ordered arrived as a mango cooler), the food was excellent. I hesitate to give this location 5 stars, as I think the new staff could use more training/coaching to ensure top-notch service before being left to fend for themselves. The Happy Hour menu seems to be kind of a gimmick, as it’s buy one get one free, but the price of one drink is a bit steep for a casual dining restaurant. That being said, the libations were tasty.

I like Las Iguanas. It’s not somewhere I go very often, but considering it’s a chain, the food isn’t too bad! You have all your standard Mexican food on offer, Burritos, Fajita’s Chimichanga’s etc, and they’re all pretty nice — just not mind blowingly good Mexican food if you know what I mean. To be honest, the thing I like best about Las Iguanas is their happy hour. 2−4−1 Cocktails all day Sunday to Wednesday, and until 7.30pm Thursdays to Saturdays. The Happy Hour is incredibly popular, so if you fancy going there on a Friday evening, expect it to be very very busy! There’s a small seating/standing area outside, so if the weather is nice, you’re good to go!

I have to admit that when I’m in England, I’m prepared to be disappointed by Mexican food cause it happens so often. So, yeah. Sometimes I’m wrong and their Mexican food doesn’t suck. Cue Las Iguanas. Got dressed up all fancy-like with my boo to swoop on their Margarita Monday. But ironically, they don’t even have margaritas on the Happy Hour menu(umm, what?) but they do make them. Their happy hour rocks pretty hard: 2 for 1 cocktails all day Sun-Wed and from 12 – 7:30 Thurs-Sat. Translation = you now have a perfectly good reason to drink at noon on a Thursday — 2 for 1! Bless you Las Iguanas. Happy hour also includes Tapas specials: 3 for £14.50 or 5 for £24. We got the prawn fajitas and enough other tapas to feed a small army or just two really greedy people. Free wifi. Great music. Beautiful ambiance. Perfect date night spot. Try the caipirinhas!

I love las iguanas, and the selection of food they offer. Don’t go for the Mexican dishes; they aren’t terribly authentic and there are better options in other Brighton eateries. Instead, try out the Brazilian and other South American options. I love getting a selection of tapas and sides with friends so we can mix and match. The staff are always friendly, the food is a bit pricey but great quality, the atmosphere and décor is cheesily awesome. I signed up for their mailing list, and every few months get a voucher for free cocktails or main dishes which is pretty cool and keeps me coming back again and again

I like las iguanas! I have dined in the branches in Portsmouth and Brighton countless times and i am always left happy and satisfied! I usually go for the meatball or prawn starter always tasty followed by either the beef fajita or crayfish salad which also are always very delicious! This is a great place to go with a large group of people or just as a couple. Good service, clean, nice atmosphere, good value and above all good food! No complaints…

I went here on Saturday for the first time. We went in around 4pm, there were a few people but not too many about. We got directed to the bar area which is extremely small. There was only one table left when we arrived in that area so we sat there and had to take stalls from other tables(there were 8 of us or so). The cocktail offers were good, it was two for one on a few tasty options, and they had brilliant virgin cocktail options too. I was quite happy with my cherry fizz drinks and they disappeared quickly! It filled up quickly after 5pm, it’s obviously a popular place. There were lots of people around but apart from straining to hear a little it wasn’t really noticeable considering how small the place is. I’d go back, though I don’t think I’d eat there, not with the restaurants nearby.

As many have noted, the 2 for 1 cocktails are great value, though I have been refused that offer when there were still 5 minutes of ordering time left, on the grounds that they wouldn’t have time to make them within that 5 minutes! A tad shoddy. That really is the only good reason to come here though as everything else about it is thoroughly average. If you want good cocktails there’s the bar in Myhotel just across the road, Valentino’s in New Road, and GinGin on St James Street, all of which are superior. If you want good Mexican food… well, that’s a bit trickier in Brighton.

Happy hour couldn’t taste or price better! The most scrumptious and incredibly alcoholic cocktails ever tasted; it could only be made by the Brazilian… The atmosphere is so laid back and cosy yet lively at the same time. It actually just makes you smile. The decorations are vibrant and exotic. The waiters are mucho helpful and friendly. Drinks are served almost immediately; the longest part is actually deciding what you’d like to drink. With so many options; one of your deadly sins is sure to be awakened.(gluttony of course). They serve the best of Latino and Brazilian dishes. Hot deals and drool wiping delicious desserts that can make your knees shake… Xmas cocktail night is a must!

A modern brazilian with a very ‘chain’ feel to it. On entry your hit with all the cocktail offers plaster all over the walls(always good), after the wait for a table(which seemed suspciously like an organised wait in order to make us buy more drinks) we were shown to our table by friendly staff. Food is nothing to write home about but then isnt so bad that I would go there again. A bit over priced for what it is if they dropped the prices a bit I would imagine they would see a lot more business(espically from me!)

These are the tastiest cocktails I have had in Brighton, brought to you by Latin American chain Las Iguanas. My favourite has to be the Cana Royale; Las Iguanas Magnifica cachaça, raspberry liqueur & elderflower, topped with Cava. You can’t argue with that really can you. I can’t drink cocktails all night, but for a kick to start the night off they are fab, and it is great to be in the thick of the North Lanes whilst revving up. This place is popular and gets packed out on Fridays and Saturdays, so expect to wait a while for your drinks if you go on a night like this.

This small chain mexican restaurant has a great lively and friendly atmosphere to it. You can go here whatever mood your in, whether you want a relaxing drink, a small bite to eat or a large meal. There is a fantastic selection of food from typical fajitas, to interesting tapas dishes — I tried a couple of the tapas and one of the chicken enchalittas — very tasty indeed and fairly priced. I very much enjoyed trying out the cocktails, especially the Margaritas, and I’m not usually a big fan of Magaritas! The service was fantastic. I have to say, there is one girl who served me at the bar who was extremely enthusiastic and friendly. If I didn’t see her kissing another one of the male staff when no one was looking I would be certain that she was a lesbian — she was definitely checking me out! I’m not going to complain, she was very attractive. Even if you aren’t in the mood for Mexican food, go into Las Iguanas and make an impression on the bar staff, they love the attention! Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience here. With such a fun and lively atmosphere, there’s no doubt that I will certainly be going back here in the near future.

This is part of a very popular growing chain of restaurants. The food on offered reflects a host Latin and Spanish influences, with dishes coming from areas like Cuba and Brazil, as well as the more well known Mexican food. Las Iguanas is in one of the nicest redevelopments in Brighton, partly because of that, it’s one of the nicer places to eat. The building is very new, the front wall one large window. In terms of the food on offer, it really is very good. I regularly eat the Mexican offerings; fajita’s and burrito’s being my choice favourites. With lunchtime and early menu offers, you can eat here at a good discount if you’re willing to pick from a set menu. There are also daily happy hours with buy one get one free cocktails for those looking for a little more excitement.

In terms of food, I don’t think Las Iguanas presents particularly good value for money, which is why I haven’t eaten there in ages. Being wheat intolerant, I can hardly eat anything on the menu apart from the Chilli Con Carne which I found very disappointing(…and bizarrely presented with tortilla chips stuck into the chilli at odd angles). It was OK, but definitely not great. I can’t say I’d ever be tempted to eat here again unless they radically overhaul their menu. BUT — and this is a big but — if you want a place to go for a few drinks, or more specifically a LOT of cocktails, then Las Iguanas is fantastic value for money. I’ve been here many a time to take advantage of their two-for-one cocktail offer, which works out at under £3 per drink. Superb value, as that’s even cheaper than a pint in most places in Brighton. My current favourite is the Ipanema Breeze I can’t remember for the life of me what it has in it, but DO know it’s absolutely delicious. Their Mojitos are also brilliant(but, sadly, not in the BOGOF offer). The Caipirinha(don’t ask me how to pronounce it) is their signature cocktail — made with Cachaça(a liquor made from fermented sugarcane), fresh lime, sugar and crushed ice it’s wonderfully sweet, fantastically refreshing and well worth a try on a hot sunny day.

I am most upset about this place because I used to love it dearly but I feel it’s really gone downhill in the last couple of years. I feel the food is just too expensive to get away with being mediocre. They seem to have taken their delicious spare ribs off the menu which was probably the start of their downfall in my eyes, and the last meal I had there was served lukewarm and tasted of nothing. It’s a shame because I feel like it could just be down to the chef they have on any given night and how busy they are. Having said that, the cocktails are still very good, especially if you get them buy one get one free! The lunchtime deals can work out at quite good value too. Also, don’t forget to ask for student discount if you’re eligible. You may have to fill in a form, but you get 20% off.

I can never quite decide if I like this place or not. I like the concept, but the execution is possibly a little iffy. The place is split into a bar area and separate restaurant. Conforming to the Mexican theme, the place is decked out in bright primary colours, and everything has a slick but friendly feel to it. The bar offers a great selection of tasty cocktails, with a few unusual concotions on offer and some good deals. The food is fairly so-so — this certainly isn’t the place to come for anything authentic, but it is tasty enough, with a fairly standard range of enchiladas, burritos and the like. It’s not going to blow you away, but it’s not bad food either.

I have to say I’m pretty nonplussed by this place. As a bar it’s nice, I like the high tables and stools and the décor is jazzy and vibrant. I am a BIG fan of two-for-one cocktails, which means I do often pop in for early drinks before heading further into town. The cocktails are tasty and strong but they offer only a small selection of the classics in the two-for-one, which means I invariably get bored and end up spending more than I intended! Although I like the bar the restaurant is another story. The problem is, it all feels like a bit of a sham… I’m not convinced that the proprietors of this place actually know much about Mexican food. Sure the names are there… enchiladas, burritos, taquitos etc. but there’s no soul in the food and the prices are seriously jumped up. In short, it just doesn’t feel authentic. I like a Mexican restaurant to be a little more rustic and the food to be a little more authentic tasting– I’m not a fan of contemporary fusion cuisine(which is what I think Las Iguanas are going for?!), just keep it simple… all I want is a big fat burrito and a pint of horchata! So, this place is good for drinks, but not somewhere I wouldn’t eat again!

The Brighton Las Iguanas is on Jubilee Street which is the only street in the North Lanes laden wit chain restaurants, however this place is in a league of its own. Specialising in Latin food they have a cocktail bar which has regular 2 for 1 deals and crowds flocks there just to have drink. Its quite swish décor with some cushioned seating, candles, bright murals and wood features. The menu is the definitely the best thing about the place offering amazing fajitas, enchiladas and burritos smothered with cheese. A great for groups especially birthday celebrations, as well as families and couples basically its brilliant.
