This place got renamed Breeze. I thought it was a great place. Drinks a little on the high side, but nice ambiance, seating, and drink options, even though it was fairly dead. Long Island Ice Tea… Mmmm

This is one of those café bar places that seems to be trying to be all things to all people, and actually, it really does this quite well. In the day it’s often rather empty, which is a shame, as particularly in summer when the big folding doors are open, this is a nice place to hang out and watch the world go by. The food here’s a bit of a mixed bag — much of it is Italian based(pizzas and pastas), but with a few other types of food represented, such as curries and fajitas. Given that this is not a dedicated restaurant, I was really rather impressed with the quality of the food when I came here — I had a seafood risotto, and as ever I am a sucker for some decent seafood. In the evening it gets busier and there is often live music here. Despite this, it can be a little lacking in atmosphere — I’d recommend it more as a daytime food place than an evening drinking venue.

I was invited to this place by some college mates who used to go here every week and absolutely loved the place. Mainly due to the fact that they would consistently get over 20 people together for good times. This was also the first place I tried the shisha or hubbly bubbly to some people. It was quite novel and I haven’t seen any other place do this before. Friday and Saturday nightsare definitely the best times to go but I would wonder if we hadn’t been in such large numbers whether it would be as much fun. With a huge amount of different drinks on offer it would be a good place to stop in if you were on a pub crawl for sure. However, I couldn’t see myself spending all night here.

I used to regularly meet a friend here for coffee and a ‘study session’ back in my student days, mainly because it was two seconds from her house. Every week we were one of the only inhabited tables in the place! it was a perfectly nice place to hang out and chat, but lacked the character and atmosphere of some of the smaller cafes in the Laines. The leather sofas are comfy tho– many a time I sank in and didn’t move again for a good few hours! More is a café by day and a bar by night. I have never been particularly tempted to frequent the place for evening drinks, probably because I am more of a pub than a wine bar gal. Extensive advertising outside the place, however, has burnt into my consciousness that they do bottles of house wine for £7 and 2 for 1 cocktails during happy hour(the specific times have sadly escaped me). They also do all sorts of different music nights. So if you’re looking to pinch pennies, head down to More for a cheap start to your night!

We were drawn into this place the other week by the announcement ‘Live Jazz on Fridays’. I’m not sure if there was in fact no jazz playing, or if we’d had a few too many to find the precise room in which this was(the latter being probably more likely), but we missed out on the jazz that evening. Regardless, it was worth a visit. The barman was very friendly, and impressed me hugely when he got us sniffing the various types of dark rum on offer! I stuck with the Sailor Jerry, but there was a good choice, as well as tequila shots for a pound if you’re so inclined. I didn’t get any of the Mediterranean food on offer in the restaurant but would definitely go back another time — really good service and atmosphere.

This place is usually ignored and underrated I think. I’ve been there for coffee or drinks and occasionally food. It’s always been great — nice staff, nice surroundings and it’s not as expensive as it looks! I’m glad I gave it a try as it’s now a regular place I go to.
