If you’re looking for seaside fish and chips this place has just that. It’s your standard shop with nothing about the food that really stuck out as good or bad in my mind. I was going to give it three stars but I’ve bumped it to four becase the location has a bonus star worthy view of the Channel.

So being in Brighton can leave you spoilt for choice of where to go for traditional fish and chips but being in a large group of friends we all managed to sit down on a couple of tables together and enjoy freshly cooked fish and chips here one evening. The staff was very friendly and even though they had some hot water issues as their water urn broke down they went above and beyond by going out to get a temporary kettle so we could enjoy a cup of tea/coffee. The prices are reasonable here but I thought the large cod looked small as it didn’t look like the same size of a large cod near me.

Does the job for seaside fish and chips– proper cut potato chips(unlike the buy one get one free place 2doors down which is obviously supermarket frozen chips style) — look out for the £5.50 small fish and chips — noy

Fish and Chips Yes, that’s what it’s called: Bottom of Ship street on the sea front. Horrific place run by aggressive and rude people I have reported them to the Enviromental health the chips were completely rotten and black. Shocking place with too many staff all staring at you weird place. Man are they rude. Enjoy

Open late & hard to miss with a very bright glowing blue light, tons of people frequent this place since it’s really close to a lot of the bars & clubs. Lots of friends really liked this place, but«Meh. I’ve experienced better,» is my personal take on it. The fish is way too greasy, dry, & bland, while the chips were soggy. They’re cheap with their condiments, so my friend & I had brought along Burger sauce to dip everything into, which made everything taste a lot better! Personally, I’d skip this place & walk further down to find a better place for fish & chips.

Eager to try the iconic British fish n’ chips when I first arrived, this place stood out to me. There are always customers when I walk past this place, usually seniors because they have a 10% senior discount. Perhaps because of it’s great location(it’s right next to the pier and within walking distance of near-by pubs and clubs for those late-night munchies), this restaurant can totally take advantage of it. It costs more to eat-in than takeaway but since it was raining, my friends and I wanted to stay dry while eating. I had the standard fried cod and chips for £6.95. It was not good. At all. Fish was nicely fried, meat was light and fluffy– too bad it was bland and tasteless. We had to drench it in malt vinegar and ketchup and tartar sauce. Chips were soggy too. I reallyreallyreally hate how stingy they are with sauces– only giving us two packets at a time. We were a table of five girls and you give us 8 packets to share?! I mean, COMEON. If you’re going to make your fish tasteless, at least provide sauces for the customer, ESPECIALLY if they’re paying more to eat-in. Waiters were pretty crabby and unfriendly. Unfortunately, the food was not worth the price. I do not recommend this place unless you’re looking for convenience but even then, there are plenty of other cheaper and better fish n’ chips shop around the seafront. Such a disappointment for my first«British meal» :\

Had the worst fish’n chips ever yesterday with my family. We used to go here years ago and always been happy. Fish tasted watery and was totally overcooked slightly burned! No fish left on the bones(Rock)! The chips cheap and mouldyno taste even with lots of salt and ketchup! Nobody seamed to care or apologised after our complains. People next to us left full plates and just went! Never again!

I really like Brighton, but I wish I had shopped around a bit more before settling on this place. The fish was way overly greasy/oily. The chips were soggy. The mushy peas were 1 step above soup. The service was slow(to be fair the waitress was really busy), and the waitress wouldn’t give us more than 2 small ketchup/tartar sauce packets at a time. Forget about lemon wedges, that wasn’t happening. My request for a cup of water got me a Dixie-size cup that didn’t nearly wash away the greasy feeling from my throat. I really hope I just caught this place on a bad day, as it has gotten great reviews and is in an amazing location. Still, when I go back, I probably will skip this place.

Was in Brighton last weekend to take advantage of the amazing weather in England and realized that I had not eaten fish and chips all week. Such blasphemy for a trip to the UK!!! The location is great. Across the street, a full open panoramic view of the ocean and beach. I ordered a large cod and chips, which was a pretty big portion, and a side of mushy peas. Service was extremely slow, but the fish was pretty fresh. The cod was battered on the spot and it was super flaky. It broke really easily with the tiny wooden pick they give you to eat the fish and chips with. They ran out of vinegar when I went, and they charged 40p for packets of ketchup. So I did eat it kind of plain. Totally did feel like a local though taking in the sunny day with the rest of the masses who drove in from London.

I’ve heard this was the best place in town for fish and chips, but I wasn’t too impressed. Granted I’m not English and I didn’t have much to compare it to before — it didn’t wow me. I went in a pretty big group and they actually gave us a «group discount» otherwise we wouldn’t have paid that much for it. Although, your pound gets you pretty far because the piece of fish was bigger than my torso. Several weeks later, I came back, but saw the actual price and decided that it wasn’t worth it. Chips were pretty soggy and you had to pile on the salt and vinegar

We went to Brighton this weekend. Saw that there were a bunch of fish and chips places but this was the only one which always had lineups out the door every time we passed by. The icing on the cake was that it also was highly rated by Unilocal… I thought… though there is no address number on the door. We wanted to try the scampi but the waiter recommended the rock instead. So we had a cod and chips, and a rock and chips. Cooked perfectly. Great food and at a price of less than 15 pounds for both– including drinks– what more could you want?

I knew my day was going to be a positive one or at least a lucky one, as within 10mins of leaving the train a seagull shat on Lizzie and I. Our business trip went better than expected so I will not be hunting that gull down as it may have given us the luck we needed. After the business was tied up, it was time for the must do activity at any seaside resort, eat fish and chips. We found the aptly named Fish & Chips on Kings Road full of hungry diners. It wasn’t long after we ordered that the food arrived. I had perfectly cooked haddock, and chips garnished with a dollop of mushy peas, plus two slices of bread to make butties. The salty sea air wafted in off the water and the sound of children laughing with their family really soothed me. I love being by the seaside. It is relaxing, somewhat traditional, and the huge body of water striped away any negative energy. Fish & Chips on the Kings Road is a great little chippy, and the constant stream of locals dining there is a sign of its greatness. It isn’t the cheapest but the working mans cheap fish supper is a thing of the past. This is a good standard establishment that locals love, selling traditional British grub right on the seafront. I felt like a young lad on holiday. Fantastic!

This is by far the best fish and chip shop in Brighton. Situated right on the seafront it has been serving up fish and chips for years ! Offers a take away service only(actually, now I’ve said that there may be tables laid out during the day. But they are taken away at night). When the pubs close there can be queues coming out of the door. Still has the old fashioned must haves — a jar of pickled eggs on the shelf and a box of wooden forks. Their fish cakes are the best !
