We came across this place, while checking out the pier and arches. Nice area to sit and people watch. End of Nov and it was still very pleasant to sit out. We ordered drinks then later food, drinks where grand not much waiting. Food was abit of a mess considering it was bread butter, chips and a toasted Sambo. Bits where coming out here and there or forgot about, chips went cold. When we said it to the waiter, she took them back and everything was sorted a. S. A. P.(they seemed a little under staffed)

It seemed that all of London had descended on Brighton last weekend, with glorious March sunshine beating down making it hotter than Barcelona. Having only just arrived late afternoon however(cycling can take a bit longer than the train and make you thirstier), we walked along the crazily busy seafront until we spotted an empty table. I’m not sure if they do waitress service, maybe for food. Nobody was out and about looking to take orders although some were carrying trays of drinks to thirsty sun worshippers. I went to the bar to order and having placed my order for a jug of Pimms, coke & a coffee(told you cycling can make you thirsty) and with everything on a tray ready for me to carry out I was told… ‘Cash only’. Amazingly, the lady allowed me to take the drinks anyway and come back with the cash later. In my most appreciative state I ran up the ramp to find a nearby cashpoint* and by the time I got back, she’d completely forgotten about me and needed reminding that I hadn’t paid. So, yeah, probably three stars from me but with such understanding and trusting bar staff it has to be four. *over the road in one of those converted telephone boxes, it charges £1.95 too. Bloody rip off cash points.

The Buccaneer is another great breakfast spot located in Kings Road Arches. It’s pretty busy when the weather gets warmer but I like to come here in the colder months as it seems less overrun with people than the centre of town. For around £5 you get a large portion of good beans rather than just sauce, 2 slices of tomato, 2 rashers, 2 sausages, an egg any way you like and and 2 rounds of toast. Steaming hot and with great tea and coffee, looking out to sea whlist you eat is a great and refreshing way to get you going in the morning!
