Ritmos Beach Café

We ate here more than once and each time the food and service were fantastic. Had a wonderful grilled mahi mahi with a garlic butter and mango chutney sauce that was fabulous. Also had lunch here and the chicken quesadillas and guacamole were fantastic along with the ceviche — the cocktails were great as well. Would definitely go back — a perfect spot to lay on the beach and have your lunch and cocktails served out to you.

Our first beach day in PV started here. Our friends grabbed a spot at 10am. By the time my spouse and I joined them at 3pm, the place was jam packed! Definitely not for the claustrophobic type.
WHERE TO SIT:
It seems that the restaurants on the beach control the chairs fronting their properties, so choose accordingly. There’s no charge to sit in the chairs that come with a plethora of umbrellas, but you’re expected to order food, and of course drinks, which come naturally to the «rainbow» crowd! Prices aren’t bad either.
THE BEACH:
The beach is bustling with ocean activities. Parasailing guests launch right from the sand. They have that jet propulsion thingy too. The beach has soft, white/​brown mixed sand with a sandy ocean floor. Conditions are fairly calm, with a few big waves now and then. Different genres of music are played near the restaurants and sound off toward the beach. Be ready to be constantly approached by vendors selling mats, blankets, henna tattoos, trinkets, shrimp skewers, and even drugs. We did purchase some tasty homemade chips! I like them plain, but my spouse opted for toppings of salt and salsa. Super cheap!
MENU:
Mexican apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, fajitas.
BEVERAGE:
Pacifico — My second favorite choice since Modello Negra & Dos XX Amber weren’t available. Corona is last on my list! You can get a bucket of ice to keep your beer cold if you order 4 beers at a time.
Pina Colada — Mmm yummy! I needed a break from my beer stint, and this was the perfect choice.
FOOD:
Steak Quesadilla — Six triangles of soft whole wheat flour tortillas came stuffed with tender and tasty steak strips, and a mix of cheddar and a cheese I’ve never heard of, Oaxaca. Very good flavor. It came with a spoonful of delicious homemade guac and 2 tortilla chips.
Cheeseburger — I wanted the chef recommended «brown mushroom sauce,» even pointed it out, but didn’t receive. Oh well, the burger was hot, tasty, and the sesame seed bun was super soft. And I was ecstatic that fries were served as it wasn’t stated on the menu.
SERVICE:
Our server Norberto was awesome! He checked on us often, despite handling numerous other patrons, all while shuffling through the sand.
Service on our second day by another guy was average.
FACILITIES:
Restrooms are available inside the restaurant. No showers are available.
OVERALL:
Great vibe, fun, good food, pricing and service.

I have to say the view is great but watch out they will charge you more than double for a drink

We ordered a White Russian and they charged us almost double what is says on the menu

Good food, even better drinks, the fact that they don’t charge 200pesos just to sit is why I give them 5 stars!

This is more of a comparative review against Blue Chairs. The chairs are more comfortable and the food supersede Blue Chairs. The music at Ritmo Beach Café is current and appeals to a younger demographic. The service was good, but the maintenance of their equipment and crap WiFi caused my rating to drop a star.

Why 4 stars, I didn’t come for the food, that would be maybe 3 stars, and there is better for cheaper in town, but your on the beach! great views, kinda slow because I am there off season, lots of locals pass through selling stuff I keep saying gracias no… my experience was it was better then next door though still hard to get the waiters attention, probably better on season with more people because only having one waiter that is a big area to cover!

At one time this was our favorite beach hang out (close to Blue Chairs, reasonable prices (b/​c no credit cards), and a great staff!
I was there yesterday and was appalled by the service. I asked for a menu twice, which never came! The waiter was more concerned with pushing the Mexican locals off «Ritmos» beach than they were attending to their paying customers. The place was only 40% full, and it was a beautiful beach day! I was really disgusted at how badly they treated the locals!
Prices are high now, and they still don’t accept credit cards??? I would go to Blue Chairs, or any other multitude of beach hangout in the area!
