La Chata restaurant is right off the Malecon, which makes it a practical place to dine at after a long stroll on the boardwalk. It offers authentic Mexican fare at reasonable prices, and the quality of the food is good. Not particularly great but just good enough. The service is a bit lacking though. I had to ask for our server to return to get us additional drinks. We felt a bit abandoned for most of the time we were there. There’s many restaurants in PV competing for the tourist dollar; this place could do much more to get more of it. — Cheers!

terrible service here! my beef fajita were brought out to me overcooked the beef! i complaint to the wait staff but he didn’t do anything about it since he didn’t want to be bother. beautiful décor for the restaurant but terrible service and the restrooms were flooded with water in the men’s restroom on the floor during the dinner time frame about 8pm to 10pm when we were eating on 25-dec-15 night. our wait knew his service was extremely poor so he added his own tip of 10% on top of our check. i wanted to complaint to management but my partner said don’t make a fuss about it and hopefully other readers willl review my direct feedback to stay away from here. we discovered better and cheaper restaurants outside of the malecon tourist neighborhood after being there 1 week during 24th to 31st of dec 2015. go to vitea which is awesome or a local seafood place called mariscos el guero seafood restaurant. both are extremely reasonable so you don’t pay an arm and a leg for dinner.

Best food we have had in Puerto Vallarta thus far. Very authentic. The margaritas were strong and the food was tasty. This place is a must try if you are on the boardwalk and you want something different than the typical chain restaurants.

Wife and I were recommended here by the driver from an earlier outing. We had tampiqueño(sp?) medium rare and this is the juiciest most delicious flank steak we have had in a long time. Fresh corn tortillas, great view and 2 for 1 margaritas that have a bit more kick than their flavour hints at. This is the kind of food for which I came to PV.

Delicious lunch with a view! We stopped for lunch for no other reason than the location. After walking and shopping along the boardwalk, we spotted La Chata and decided to try it out. The restaurant is upstairs which provided great views of the bay. We were seated immediately right under a fan which we were thankful for. This helped us to cool down quickly. Service was quick. We ordered: — quesadilla with guacamole — enchiladas — nachos Everything was tasty. No complaints!

Beautiful restaurant with a view of the ocean. Food was delicious because we were STARVING, not because it was actually really delicious. They provide tortilla chips with very spicy salsa! Tortilla soup was really good especially when you added sour cream and the cheese. Dairy products in Mexico are just super rich and creamy! I loved the Horchata, but my friend who got it said she could taste the rice powder. There was guitarist singing to each table for tip. I got chicken enchiladas with green sauce, which I enjoyed very much. My mom got some kind of beef strip thing, which was very tender. However, another member of our party thought his beef was overcooked. This place is recommended, and really reaches out to all the tourists! The waiters liked to take away our plates like RIGHT after we finished our last bite. They were very enthusiastic to clean up. I felt a little rushed and uncomfortable as they stood in a corner staring at us while we finished our food, so they could swarm over and snatch away our plates.

Good food, great view of El Malecon(boardwalk). Jalisco style food can’t go wrong with that !
