Delicious cendol! I first stumbled upon the truck one hot after noon while I was driving around the SS2/SS17 area. I noticed there was a large crowd gathered by the side of the road and guessed that whatever the truck was serving had to be good, I was not mistaken. The cendol served here is some of the best I’ve had. The santan really brings together the shaved ice and gula melaka in a harmonious bowl of goodness, refreshing to say the least. The cendol only costs Rm2.50 for a big bowl, a very rare price point in this day and age. The truck also served authentic Indian rojak, although I didn’t order, I could tell that it was delicious because the other patrons were gobbling it down like there was no tomorrow. The only down side is that there are limited seats, so a majority of the patrons opt for take-away.

There’s a very famous cendol and rojak truck at Seksyen 17, and that’s Cendor & Rojak Mustaffa. You’ll spot the truck by the road side either at the Seksyen 17 market or opposite the market. Cendol & Rojak Mustaffa is very popular among the locals at that area because the price is reasonable and the cendol is really good. The ice shaving are fine, the santan is very fragrance, the cendol is soft and the are generous with the toppings such as the cream corn and red bean paste. It’s a perfect dessert to cool down during the crazily hot weather in Malaysia. The truck owner only have limited chairs for the customers, but people are more than willing to stand around the truck to savour their bowl of cendol. You can always take-away but it won’t taste as nice because the melted ice would have diluted the cendol.

This is me and my colleague’s perfect evening dessert in Seksyen 17. The truck parks opposite the Seksyen 17 market and is very popular among the locals because of their cendol, ABC and rojak. Parked by the main road, they have plastic stools for the patron to chill when they are having their evening cendol and maybe a warm plate of rojak. Their cendol is unlike the popular Penang cendol because theirs is santan based. Coming from Pahang, this is something I definitely love and another good note is that they offer a generous amount of soft, sweet and warm red bean paste. Take a bite with the shaved ice topped with coconut syrup and the soft and fat cendol you are officially having yourself a top notch Malaysia dessert. The dessert are fairly priced at about RM2 to RM3.5 and if you’re in the area looking for some cooling afternoon dessert, this is definitely the place to go.

The best cendol place you’ll find in PJ possibly. For me, it’s been the best so far as I have yet to discover another place better than this cendol stall or should I say truck? It’s located by the side of the road in Section 17 and you’ve probably seen it if you travel around SS17 a lot. They’ve been here for quite some time and it’s always crowded. They’re always sold out back during the days but it’s been rather quiet now. They have the usual ingredients for cendol which is the red bean, peanuts and cincau but you can also request for pulut(sticky rice) along with your cendol. I personally order cendol kosong with pulut, besar. Oh yes, there is small or big as well.

Malaysians are always suckers for cendol due to the extreme hot weather we get here. And this particular road side van truck business is just what we need one afternoon when we passed by it. There were tons of patrons around and we decided to try it out. First things first, only RM1.50-RM2. We all proceeded with one each without thinking. The blades are sharp and they produce finer shaved ice that really helps with the overall feeling of eating cendol. They would give you proper bowls and the ingredients are rich in flavor and the tint of sweetness is just what I like. Don’t take just my word for it, go try it!
