The reason why I give 4 stars was because I love the environment and the coffee, but I was disappointed with my breakfast. The foods we ordered were not delicious and unflavorful. I heard dinner is wonderful here, but I came here for breakfast, I was utterly dissatisfied. I couldn’t even finish it. But as I said, the coffee was nice.

Superb taste in food and bakery. There are so many choices of bread & pastries to choose from. I have been buying the breads here for my family & relatives and they all love it. Also, I was not a big fan of drinking coffee until I tried Black Kettle’s. Its beans are from Australia too. But of course, I won’t be ordering 3 cups of coffee for a meal. So I ordered Harney&Son’s tea! I have not seen this brand in Penang yet but it tastes so good On a side note, they have a very outstanding interior design, using natural lighting in the café and a wall of greenery potted plants. The café has free, fast WIFI and fully air-conditioned. It’s the place to be for relaxing and enjoying your time there; avoiding the hot&humid weather in Penang. I would DEFINITELYRECOMMEND Black Kettle café to visit in Penang

Service is top notch. Food is amazing with a huge range of options. Ambience is lovely. And if you’re lucky, you’ll spot the owner running around to serve you. He’s not usually there as he’s also the grocery boy but if you do catch him, he’ll give you the best customer service you’ll ever experience.

Delicious! I wandered past the café during my wanderings around Georgetown, and it looked like a great place for lunch.(And a good reprieve from the heat wave.) I got a roasted chicken sandwich and a cold lemon honey tea. The tea was amazing! Tasted like American lemonade, I could’ve had several glasses. The sandwich was good, but the ciabatta bread was very greasy, and made it hard to eat the sandwich without it falling apart. Good flavors though and the rest of the menu looked mouthwatering. It’s pricey at about 25RM for entrees, and around 10RM for non-alcoholic drinks.

I had read about Black Kettle Café but when we walked by it looked like a coffee and dessert place. We were looking for our final Penang night’s dinner spot and luckily noticed that the restaurant seating was in the back. The place is brightly lit, clean and modern. Although mostly filled with college-aged couples, there were tables of families. The menu is eclectic and I honed in on Garoupa Fish marinated with miso and mirin glaze, served with garlic rice. It was perfectly cooked tender and moist, probably the best fish I ate in Penang. The garlic rice was delicious. Hugo enjoyed his Spaghetti Lamb Green Curry which looked and tasted awesome. It was a relaxing and enjoyable meal. We ended up sharing a dessert. Their cappuccino was spot on. Our waiter was super friendly, maybe because we knew him from his other job. These guys are hard workers! Whether you are going for a full meal or just coffee and dessert, Black Kettle Café delivers.
