Ming Xiang Tai is a famous tea and Chinese pastry shop in George Town. They have three stores and this location on Armenian Street about a block from Weld Quay is their newest one. They have another location on Burma Road. There is a cool mural outside the shop that is a popular spot for photo taking by tourists. Inside you will find a good array of Chinese pastry favorites like egg tarts and biscuit pastries. They also have a large fridge case full of different types of bottled teas. I tried a couple of their teas. They are sold in these large glass bottles for RM6. I really like the herbal liangcha tea flavor that they have here. It is sweet rather than sour and it is a nice way to battle the heat in Penang. The red date and longan tea is also quite interesting as full size dates and longan lie at the bottom of the tea. My only regret visiting this shop is that I did not try out the pastries here when I had that chance. Don’t make the same mistake.
