In town for a friend’s wedding and this place got the best reviews for the price. Clean, quiet motel and convenient for being off the beaten path. Tip to management: invest in plastic(not cloth) shower curtain/liners. Our floor was soaked every time my husband or I took a shower. I am sure that can’t be good for the floors and was a hassle to take a shower. Other than that, good for the money in this area.

According to the Seneca Lake Winery Association pamphlet, The Seneca Clipper Inn is described with an economy of words befitting this place: «Affordable. Clean. Comfortable. AAA.» I agree. It’s a no frills place where you can rest your hat for a bit while you explore all the beauty Watkins Glen has to offer. It’s in walking distance of the state park and it’s situated right on the town’s main street, South Franklin Street. It’s suitably located and it really is comfortable, clean and affordable. Note, if you’re turned off by tacky, outdated furniture, hideous bedspreads that look like a hundred cats vomited on a canvas, and window curtains with polyester tassles and fringes etc., this place is not for you — it really is bare bones. You have a comfortable bed, AC, a big box TV, microwave, fridge and clean small bathroom. That’s about it. The staff is friendly and hospitable, and though I don’t think they should be so formal as to greet their customers in uniform, it helps if they could be a bit more presentable in appearance. The receptionist who welcomed me was barefoot, wearing shorts and a thin sweatshirt with the sleeves cut off.

Affordable, clean, and convenient roadside inn. After a lengthy drive from the city, it was a relief to discover Watkins Glen State Park was within walking distance. Close to a quaint downtown area, the building is well-maintained and the staff are hospitable. The walls are a little thin and the amenities are limited, but it’s a perfect place to rest between hiking adventures.
