Burger fine, very good. They will cook it Medium Rare which is nice. Very expensive for what you get. NOBATHROOM, some lame excuse why not. They send you next door to coffee shop, coffee shop not happy about that, usually buy a cup from them if have to use bathroom . Overall, Not the same as it was 10 years ago, but what Is these days. Fries good, avoid the milkshake, just a thick, tastes pre made frostie. Great grilled cheese, ask for tomato on it. Bacon is over cooked, burnt to a crisp, crumbled on sandwich and burger, not worth extra cost.

fantastic! great food, good atmosphere. Felt like the donut shop growing up. Reasonable prices, too. Wish they took card, or some other electronic payment, but that’s the only complaint

Best stop in the area. Nice to find a real burger joint that is about the burger and not the trappings. Wonderful food, service and value.

I grew up in Walnut Creek went to Las Lomas high school next door to Georges and used to go there almost every Friday night of my child hood. This is honestly the best burger you can get ANYWHERE. I now live on the other side of the tunnel for the last 10 years but whenever I go visit my parents who are still in Walnut Creek I make sure to stop at Georges. There’s all these new burger joints around town but if you know Walnut Creek and have been there a long time you know there isn’t a better burger. The meat is very high quality and cooked perfectly. The bacon cheese burger is what to get. The bacon is cooked crunchy and combined with a medium rare burger you can’t go wrong. Don’t be fooled by these new hip burger places around downtown if you take it from a local this is the spot to go to.

OMG it’s huge! Maybe not giant but x-large. Those are the words that remained in my mind after my visit to George’s Giant Hamburger(GGH for short). This place stands out at the corner of a small shopping strip that’s across from Chase Bank. I’ve been living in the East Bay for almost a decade and seen businesses come and go but GGH withstands the test of time similar to the Great Pyramids of Giza. Word on the street says this place has been around for more than 3 decades! That says a lot since before the dot com boom/bust and all of the yuppies and techies moving to the Bay, GGH was always there serving their old fashioned hamburgers. Wouldn’t you be curious to see what’s all the hype is about? When you enter the establishment, the first thing you’ll noticed is the old style tables, walls, pictures, and smell. It has the nostalgic smell of a diner or restaurant from the 70’s. I saw a family sitting next to our table asking for a high chair for their son. The high chair is the old style one I see in the movies usually during flashback scenes. And the high chair looks to be in pristine condition! Now, this may seem odd but they have a condiment bar to the left of the cashier where you can add tomatoes(limit 2), onions, and other condiments. Many of the Habits, Shake Shacks, In n Out don’t do this type of set up for who knows what reason. I personally like it since I wouldn’t have to bother the already busy employees just for a tad bit of relish. Overall, feels good to come here but remember that they are cash only.

First of all, BEWARE: this place is CASHONLY. There just isn’t an excuse for this in 2016. I wouldn’t have come here if I knew, and I will not return unless I can pay with a credit card. I got two double cheeseburgers and two orders of fries. It cost about $ 30, which I think is the most I’ve every paid for something like that. The cheeseburgers were good, but not $ 10 good. All the ingredients were of good quality, and the preparation was good, the burger was just a little lacking in taste; I don’t think they season the beef patties on the grill and that would probably make the difference. If you’re looking good burger, you can probably do better than George’s Expensive Cash-Only Hamburger.

Ok burgers., nothing special. Waaaaay overpriced for the size(they are not«giant» burgers– not sure why it has that name?!?) and blandness. The fries had no salt or seasoning whatsoever. They only take cash? What’s up with that? Very weird. No one carries cash now– it’s 2016! The snack shack at my kids little league takes debit/credit cards for Gods sake! Last but not least— the bathroom situation!!! You have to go outside the building around the block to get into the bathroom. Apparently you can’t enter from the restaurant because it’s in the kitchen. There’s a sign on the door that says no public restroom though. I thought every restaurant was supposed to have a restroom for their patrons? Anyhoooo… This place was funky, we won’t be returning!

I’m new to Walnut Creek and I’d read good things about this place so I tried it out for lunch. Not busy so it looked good. I ordered my cheeseburger med rare, fries and ice tea. That’s when she told me, «cash only.» I asked if there was an atm close and she sent me to the Chase back across the street. I had to go inside and then pay a $ 3 fee to get the cash to pay for for my $ 12 lunch. I asked about it and he explained that it was just too expensive for him to pay the CC fees. I said, «Well, I had to go across the street and pay $ 3 to buy your food and he replied, «better you than me paying.» Ok, I get back and pay and then he cooked my food. The burger was good to order and was juicy but lacked flavor. Seemed like there was no seasoning on the meat. It’s a naked burger and bun and you dress it yourself. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The fries were bland and overcooked. I’ll continue to look for better places.

If you go here do not order a double cheeseburger unless you are absolutely starving! There burgers are huge, but they are super delicious! luckily the day my fiancé and I went in we were both pretty hungry! The burgers have a really great flavor and the milkshakes were really good! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because they only take cash & the cook was pretty rude! All in all when we went no one was in there and honestly I’m surprised because this is a really good burger spot in Walnut Creek.

Fresh and perfectly cooked. I am one who loves the phoo phoo burger with blue cheese and all that Jazz but I can go for a basic burger too ONLY if it’s delicious. This«basic» burger was exactly that.

Shut up with this burger. Very simple, but perfectly cooked. I don’t know what they do to make these burgers so wonderful. Excellent, airy, crispy fries, too. Best burger in town, by a mile.

I want to keep this review simple, just like this place. You can’t go wrong here. The menu is simple and the food is delicious. I got a bacon hamburger with grilled onions and an order of fries. Staff was super friendly too, if I am back in the area I will return. You feel safe eating a big burger here knowing there is a hospital across the street.

Nostalgia at its finest. George’s Giant Hamburger(GGH) has been around for 37 years. It has withstood all the changes in Walnut Creek over the last decade and a half. For many people who grew up in Walnut Creek, GGH and the old Pinky’s Pizza were the hangout spots for high schoolers, much like The Max on «Saved by the Bell» or the Peach Pit on «Beverly Hills 90210». My colleague and I went to GGH for lunch today. Personally, I hadn’t been to GGH in years until today and was excited to step foot inside the establishment again. We got there at around noon today and the restaurant was fairly busy. As I looked around, I noticed nothing has changed after all these years. The wood panel wall from the 70s, old pictures of Walnut Creek on the wall, and the menu with the plastic letters and numbers were still there. It was just like when I was in high school! The only thing that’s different were the prices. It went up a bit since my last visit! My colleague and I went to the counter to place our order. I got a cheeseburger with grilled onion and some fries. It set me back about $ 12. Not bad for a burger in Walnut Creek these days. It didn’t take long before my burger was ready. I picked it up and went straight to the condiment bar to grab some sliced tomato and shredded lettuce. The burger was still good. Meat was fresh(I believe they still grind their own meat) and was cooked to my specifications. The pre-made bun was toasted nicely and the condiments were fresh. Overall, it was a solid burger. Along with the crispy fries, it was a very satisfying meal. The owner and the staff, as well as my fellow diners, were very friendly. I ended up talking to three different tables of people(an assistant general manager of the A’s, a retired DJ, and a lady who worked at GGH some 30 years ago)! The current owner, a Chinese lady, is a friend of the original owners Betty and George and bought GGH from them 18 years ago. She is definitely keeping this joint alive. I hope 20 years from now GGH will still be around. Every town needs a joint or two like them! BONUSMATERIAL: — Tiny parking lot on site. Street parking available. — Cash only.

This place is a wonderful local joint and I feel lucky we found it on our way. Simple menu with only classic topings but everything done really well. The staff is friendly and attentive. You can’t ask for more(maybe only that they’ll serve beer… lol)

Always a good burger!!! In these days of bigger is better George’s is consistent with the kind of burger you make at home. You get to Doctor up ur own burger which I like~ The fries are good & hot, however I have noticed he has cut down on the portion size ~ probably a good thing! A main stay on Walnut Creek across from Kaiser. CASHONLYNOCREDITCARDSEITHER ~ No beer ~ soft drinks & shakes a plenty

This place makes me happy! The burger is a classic done well. Growing up in Brentwood, I was devastated when ¼ lb. burger on hwy 4 closed. This is the closest thing I had found to that. So close in fact, that if I close my eyes I think I’m there. Now I can relive my glory days while I mow down salty, fatty goodness. Cash only!(which means it must be good) Bonus: Original everything, down to the classic orange plastic booths. Plus, they grind their own chuck.

This place has always made awesome food! It’s a Walnut Creek institution, for decades now. Don’t be deceived by it’s outdated décor either, nor it’s limited menu, as they instead focus on doing one thing well: BURGERS and FRIES! The sign says: Georges Giant HAMBURGERS, & that makes it pretty self explanatory. If you are looking for one of those over-priced-new-vision burger joints, this is not it. It’s simply NOT going to offer some new-age-hipster burger topped with goat cheese, arugula served on a poppy seed wheat bun. However what you will get is a quality all-American style burger or cheeseburger, crispy delicious fresh cooked fries and a drink for a reasonable price. A bonus for when you dine in; they offer a small self serve bar of basic condiments: lettuce, tomato, onions pickles etc. etc. so you can load up on what you want. I always get the cheeseburger, fries and soda. I have never been disappointed. The portion size is huge. Also the fries are fried perfectly when you order and the hamburgers prepared by the owner/cook also cooked-to-order and it’s not frozen pre-made patties either. The place is always kept clean and the staff is friendly & professional. It’s usually very busy at peak meal and parking can be limited(very small private lot, at a very busy intersection in W.C.) so be prepared to circle a few times. If you love burgers go give a try! ;-)

I took a look at reviews and thought«oh this looks good!» Checked out some of the photos and a medium burger was a bit too bloody for what I would consider medium, no biggie, I’ll order medium well. Ordered a double hamburger with fries. Nice, friendly, fast service. Topped my own burger and sat down ready to devour what was looking like an amazing burger fry combo. I bite into the burger and while the flavor was there I was disappointed that the inside was that gray, over cooked and dry color that no one wants. Go for the old fashioned vibe, not so much for the burger.

Who doesn’t love a homemade hamburger? When I first moved to Walnut Creek, a friend told me about this place. He said that he would come here a few times a week when he was going to school just to have their cheeseburger. I believe his exact words were«they are legit.» There isn’t places like George’s in HI that offer quality old fashion burgers so I was intrigued. My mouth watered a bit so I had to go. When you enter this restaurant you will notice the old fashioned décor from their flooring, menu board, orange tables and booths. I’ve even seen them grind cubes of quality steak from an old fashion meat grinder for the burger patties. There is a ton of natural light from the windows and glass door that make the restaurant glow. It’s a very simple menu and that’s all it needs to be. Their food will speak for themselves. I have always ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger or the Cheeseburger. The only difference is the bacon on the side for the Bacon Cheeseburger. It’s a delicious, juicy meat patty, made the way you order it, placed on a warm bun and melt cheese oozing on top of the patty. You can go to the side bar for any toppings you like. There are sliced tomatoes, lettuce leafs or shredded, sliced red onions and sliced pickles to the best of my memory. You can also add ketchup, mustard, mayo, salt/pepper to your burger as well. This is must go to spot for me every time I’m in the Bay Area. I crave it on flights over and won’t be satisfied during my trips without at least coming here once. Simple is the best and they have perfected it. Even their fries are very good! I wouldn’t say they are the best but they are good and component the meal well. Must try if you’re in Walnut Creek! Can’t wait to go back…
