It’s hot dogs we’re okay, but I prefer SAC Tasty Hot Dogs in Vallejo since I been going there when I was in high school. The old lady from Caspers who was making the food kept making too much body movements(look like she had a seizure)

Disappointing for a place specializing in hot dogs. Reminiscent of bowling alley food. I love hot dogs :(

oh god! Did i use to eat this as a kid and think i twas AMAZING! I was debating taco bell or Casper’s. Friend wronged me by going in. Horrible tasting dogs even with cheese. They were out of chilli. Regardless it was the worse 4.44 I have spent in a while. Costco dogs or nothing else. I guess this is why you don’t see any locations. Nostalgia-FAIL

Wanted to try one of those caspers hot dogs that some people rave about so was pleased to see(according to Unilocal) that they’re(supposed to be) open until midnight — so I wandered by at 9:15 pm on a Thursday only to find the closed signs on the doors and windows. So who got the hours wrong, Unilocal or caspers? People can’t go for a late night snack if the establishment is closed!

Sometimes you just need a plain old chili dog. Or a plain old hot dog. This is the perfect place for this. Good quality meat, quick service, and just tasty. Nothing fancy, but do you really need a fancy place to buy a wiener for your mouth?

I’ve never been here or even heard of this place. A friend of mine saw it while we were just driving around(we came down from Sac to hang out for the day). She got totally excited when we saw it. I got the Polish Casper Dog with everything. It was actually really good. I’m still debating on how many I want to take home. ;)

I love the food here. I always have. The other night, we stopped by for a bite and the two guys who were working were so pleasant. I love that. It makes you want to come back again and again.

If I was a business specializing in hot dogs, I would make sure they are damn good. Not the case at caspers. I got a chili cheese dog and was far from impressed. Basically a scoop of beans with shredded cheese on an unimpressive dog wrapped in a soggy bun. The only way I could eat this was with a spoon. Now I know why they give u a spork for your dog! Additionally the restaurant has a depressing, grade school cafeteria feel to it.

Extremely rude service. We walked in with 20 minutes to close and he practically was pushing us out the door before we got inside. Before we had taken 2 steps in the door, he asked us «how many do you want»… being our first time I didn’t even know what was on the menu, but I felt pressured to give a quick response. The store appeared dirty, sloppy, and dimly lit. The poor quality of the hot dogs may be due to undercooking or sloppy preparation since the employee was in such a rush. That said, from a company that specializes in hot dogs, I expected a LOT more. The hot dogs tasted like watered down boiled hot dogs that had sat too long in the water, the meat was all but flavorless. Needless to say, we won’t go back.

Yuck the dirtiest restaurant in all if Walnut Creek. First time we went the staff was removing the grates above the food bar and it sprinkling dust and dirt all over the food. Gave it a second try and just as bad. When I pulled up a girl was watching me get out of my car then she got out of hers and quickly walked in before me. She was the on duty employee. Did not wash her hands and quickly threw my hot dogs together an rushed back out to sitting in her car. Both times lousy service dogs are nothing special and are prepared with out care.

they have their own parking lot and its busy. i come here because a friend LOVES their hotdogs. He gets one every week. I come along when i am with him. i usually get a nice normal hot dog which has a NICECRUNCH… SNAP to it! The bun is soft and compliments the hot dog perfectly. What i really like is a hot dog with ketchup, relish, onions… and smothered in cheese. or without cheese. the hot dogs are so good that you can buy them at costco if you don’t feel like getting in line or want to make your own hot dog at home.

Almost on par with«Top Dogs» in Berkley. I love hole in the walls food joint that serves great food. this is one of them. Casper’s(NOTKASPERS) is one of the best hot dogs i’ve had. the place is very clean and there are plenty off parking to choose from. My choice is alway either an Original, chicken, or double dog on those feel good days. This place is def. one of WC best food joints. Believe it or not, I’d rather go there than the fancy super expensive steakhouse next door(and it’s not because of the money either). the staff is very welcoming, and very friendly. awesome place.

Casper’s deserves an extra star for being open saturdays when fellow tenants, jon lee and sakane sushi, were closed. eats: –hot link dog(3.39) nice size dog with a bit of spiciness and the usual mustard, onions, tomatos on a warm bun –hot chocolate(.99) a little clumpy, made from nestles’ chocolate powder, tasted so good! dog bites: –3 ladies working here makes the line move fast. –cash only –caspar’s traditonal dogs cheaper and bigger than the fancy dogs available everywheres(chili and tamales also avallable).

Boo to all the non-believers of Casper’s. It is and always will be an institution in the Dub C aka Walnut Creek. B – S – Parking lot gets full with Quizno’s, Taco Bell & other food spots in the same plaza – The«classic» hot dog stand of Walnut Creek – Chili Cheese Dog is a winner – NOW takes credit card(you can stop complaining) I’ve been enjoying Casper’s for a while. It used to have more locations throughout the bay area but the economy and times have changed. This location has been here FOREVER and it will always be the«classic» spot for a hot dog in Walnut Creek. I love their Chili Cheese Dogs. When I was working in Walnut Creek, I would come here at least once a week. Since I’m here for the next two weeks, I had to make a stop. From the steamed bun to the snap of the dog, Casper delivers. And the fresh chili, onions add a whole lot of finely stredded cheddar cheese and you have a masterpiece. I killed 2 of these thing, some chips and a drink for $ 11. It’s not cheap, but I mean I’m coming here for something classicly delicious. And to all the people talking about Costco, are you serious?! Costco is nowhere close to Walnut Creek. You’re talking about either the middle of Concord or Danville/San Ramon. So if you want to waste your gas and time to save a few bucks, go ahead. You won’t be able to get the BOMB Chili Cheese Dog that Casper has. P. S. Costco doesn’t take credit cards, only debit cards or AMEX.

Cash Only: I understand that credit card companies charge fees to retailers to use the credit machines, but come on… Take a freaking card. Smell: I walked in to the STRONG smell of bleach. It was almost too overpowering. Food: Nevermind the fact that they are considering placing warning labels on hot dogs, these hot dogs are bad for you! First off, they are nothing special. Second, they are not that big. Third… well, that surprise came 20 minutes later when I shot hot dog out of my bum like I was an artillery cannon. Pass this place up. I see nothing of value coming out of it.

I would really give this place 2.5 stars, but because my fiancé loves the hot dogs so much, I’ll round up. The hot dog was good enough but not like«holy cow this is the best hot dog ever» good. The ambiance is underwhelming, but it was clean enough. Service was friendly enough. I suppose it’s all very average and 3-star worthy. However, for me, the dog was simply too average to justify the price. I think we spent about $ 20 on 3 hot dogs and 2 drinks. $ 20? For hot dogs? Seriously, I can get like 13 hot dogs with drinks at Costco for that price, and I actually prefer a Costco dog.

Faint with hunger after driving up and down Broadway looking for Yogurt Park(I hadn’t had lunch and it was close to dinner time, all I wanted was a gigantic portion of fro-yo), I stopped at Casper’s for a turkey dog and asked the cashier about Yogurt Park. She knew the location and asked if I planned on meeting someone there. I made a frustrated sigh and exclaimed I just wanted yogurt(lots of yogurt). At that point, everyone at Casper’s(all locals I presume) helped me find my way to Yogurt Park. Both Casper’s and Yogurt Park are Walnut Creek institutions. It looks like this Casper’s has been around for quite some time. The interior reminds me a bit of Wienerschnitzel; it has that fast food feel. The hot dog selection is limited(Polish sausage, kraut dog, pickle dog, etc.) and not what you would consider gourmet. It’s an old fashioned hot dog. The Casper dog is $ 2.79. I had the Turkey dog($ 2.99): a snappy, thin, steamed dog(wasn’t too salty) on a warm, soft steamed bun, topped with fresh slices of tomato, onions, relish, yellow mustard and onions. It was okay but I prefer grilled buns and grilled dogs. I also like putting on my own condiments. The relish was too sweet and the bun too soft. They also have milkshakes, tamales, chili bowls, milkshakes and potato chips. Tamales? Hmm, somewhat random but interesting.

Time to lower the curve… Caspers is over-rated. It’s just a hot dog stand folks. So it snaps, big deal, so I paid a lot for a conglomerate of meat that snaps. Over-priced. My suggestion: Costco $ 1.50 deal, hot dog(or a polish dog) and coke. Can’t beat that!
