Got food poisoning here. I was sick for four days straight. I swore off buffets after that.

Came out here for my nephew’s 1st bday — cousin rented the banquet room. This place was slow — took forever for refills, forever to refill food trays, but were quick to pick up our plates. The food was minimal since they hardly came around to put more food out. Also, the floors were sticky and slippery with no caution sign in sight. Maybe that was their strategy — slippery floors means harder to get to food — harder to get to food means less eating?! Enjoyed my family gathering, but not the food…

I ate here in the spring of 2011, and all i have to say is, AVOIDTHISPLACE !!! Notice how Asian people don’t even eat here. That should tell you something. The food has been sitting and the sushi is horrible. And for some reason, the floors are slippery.

Was there recently for a family gathering and would have to say that I was not impressed. First of all, there was only 1 waitress helping our group of possibly 50+ of us… so there was nobody to get drinks. We ended up helping ourselves to the soda machine until eventually she showed up to the machine, while everyone lined up waiting for a drink. My dad went up for a drink for me. asked for some water and all she did was smile and laugh. Don’t know what was so funny. Did they not have water? Although there was a great deal of food out there, nothing was worth trying twice. I had the sushi. which did not seem fresh at all. The rice was hard. Their different chicken and pork dishes were hard. Basically anything I ate once, I did not attempt another taste. I felt it was such a waste of food. I could only take one bite and wouldn’t eat the rest of what I bit because it was just terrible. Desserts were just as bad. The cakes were not even moist but dry and tasteless. I even had a scoop of green tea ice cream, which did not even have a hint of green tea flavor. Thats one place I will never return to.

Food is not fresh. It was not rotated properly. I’m sure the food sat beyond its expiration time. Was dried out but there was lots of sauce trying to compensate for the dryness.

GROSS. Don’t even humor yourself with the sushi, all I can say is that I lived to tell about it. The texture is so nasty. The food is not hot and we went at dinner time 6 – 7 pm on a Wednesday night. Afraid to go for a second round of food. The dim sum goodies were hard as rocks and the sesame balls were dark brown and not edible. desserts are flavorless. Spent $ 35. for 2 adults one child. Plus three drinks.

The food looked good but actually tasted bad, or had no real taste at all. I was surprised at this, and kept leaving tasted items on my plate and returned for something else, thinking it was«me». I was still hungry after 4 plates of food, I would have felt bad wasting all that food but it tasted so bad that I didn’t. The few things that were safe(wonton soup) were gone. They promised to refill but never did while I was there. I left HUNGRY from a BUFFET! I just couldn’t find anything I wanted to eat more than a half a bite of. I got vanilla ice cream at the end, because I was really hungry. My girlfriend admonished her son for leaving food time after time. He even left the brownie. Unable to allow chocolate to go to waste I ate one of his untouched brownies. I must have made a face because my girlfriend laughed and said«did you just get brain freeze from the ice cream?» I said No, I was tasting that brownie, it was literally awful. How can you ruin a brownie? She scoffed and tasted it… oh, boy, they managed to ruin a brownie… it actually tastes bad. Maybe that is to keep people from eating too much? I don’t know. They list«Italian» on their sign. All I saw was garlic bread and pizza. I ate the garlic bread because it was safe. The young boy in our party of 3 told me, «don’t try the pizza»…apparently he had been there before. Also, the entire floor was dangerously slippery. There were no caution signs up. The floor was actually greasy. The bathrooms were not clean. There was a place you could easily trip over the filthy rug at the edges in a major pathway. I am so surprised there have been no serious injuries with that installed carpeting edge flipped up and the«black ice» — like tile floor. Oh well!

This place is ok as far as buffets go. I would say that my favorites are the cheese mussels, the egg flower soup, and the deserts. They sometimes have crab legs, but they are measly and soggy.(Don’t ask me how crab legs get soggy). You could bend them like plastic. The sushi is pretty good considering the price. I’ve never gotten sick from this place. It’s not the cleanest buffet, but not the dirtiest either. They usually show football games on Sunday mornings. Although the food quality isn’t great, the large selection of food makes it almost worth the price.

This place has changed. Warning, Just went to eat with the family this labor day. Some of the foods there was not fresh except for the steamed fish. They had flies on the dessert and that was nasty. But the biggest killer there was theIce cream bar. GOLOOKATTHEICECREAMSCOOPHOLDER. THEREISMILDEWFORMINGONTHEHOLDERCREVICE. LOOK very closely where the water is dripping to clean the scoop. I should of notified the manager.

The first time I came here, it was closed but the second time it was open so we gave it a try. Not many people on a weekend during lunch time, we were promptly seated and got our order in for a couple of soda’s. The buffet stations were huge and there was a lot of food everywhere, not very good food, but not too shabby either. We tried a variety of items and thought the following were A-OK: Pork Bao Chinese Spring rolls Broccoli Chicken Chinese Susage Rolls Almond Cookies Everything else we tried was really MEH… as was the service. Maybe come back in a few months…

This place is pretty good if you want endless Chinese food at a good price. It’s also a good place for big gatherings. My family threw a party for my grandmother’s birthday here and they were very accommodating.

I always come here with my family whenever we have a family gathering. It feeds people to the max, all for a decent price. I don’t really have a favorite here. For me, you can’t expect anything fabulous at a buffet. IT’S A BUFFET. you don’t come in expecting the best, so thats why the rating isn’t that great. The most recent visit occurred on easter sunday. There was hardly anyone there, but it still took forever for the waiter to bring our drinks and give us any utensils. The food itself was watever. nothing note worthy, but like I said, its ok food thats great to fill big appetites. What i really enjoy about this place is the company. that’s it.

My mom loves buffets and our family outings tend to include some random Chinese buffet. We’ve been going to New China Buffet for years, ever since it opened. I’m not a fan of buffets because I like quality over quantity.(sometimes.) The servers are usually nice but sometimes hard to understand. The food is often piping hot and often luke warm. I never eat buffet sushi… ever but my mom does and she has never gotten sick from it. I like the Mongolian BBQ station although the grill guy scares the crap out of me. He constantly points at his tip jar and looks at me. I do give him tips but not right off the bat. It’s like hello? Would you cook my food first? I really have no say in whether I’d come back because I know I will but it’s never on my own free will.

For Tracy this is the best you’ll get, the food is all good and service is good. They have Mongolian BBQ, decent sushi, and Lots of yummy selections. For dinner they have crab! I recommend this place!!! However prices are a bit high, they raised them so –1 star. But still very good! EDIT: was just here the person doing mongolian bbq always looks grumpy and they changed there food around, its ok still but not as good as it was

I have no idea why some people rate this restaurant so poorly. I’m Asian, so I should know what Asian food should taste like. This buffet is my favorite one out of all California. I’ve been to other restaurants as well, but you can’t beat China seafood buffet price! Where can you get Clams, Crayfish, Snow crab, blue crab, Shrimp, and mussels for under $ 20? The staff is friendly and are always giving me great service. If your a Crayfish fan like me, then this place is for you. If you don’t feel like cooking, then you can also do take out. I choose China Buffet over fast food any day! In fact, I go to this restaurant every other week. Don’t take my word for it, so go see for yourself.

I drove from Stockton to Tracy to try this Chinese buffet based on the 4-star reviews that it had received. It was a waste of gas. Maybe if I lived within a mile, I could force myself to go there again but my experience will not be repeated. The place is huge. I arrived the mid-afternoon. probably around 3:00 p.m. There were about ten other tables with diners, one waiter and one, sometimes two bus boys. The place was fairly clean. But the main reason I go to a restaurant is for the food. The food may have been average if it was anywhere near fresh but after sitting under heat lamps and on top of steam tables for a hour, the food degrades rather rapidly. That was the case with the food presented that afternoon. The majority of the food was barely warm… and that can be a problem with poultry dishes. On the positive side, they have a very generous variety of offerings including sushi. The waiter seemed to be pleasant, refilling drinks at all the other tables except mine. He offered me a refill five minutes before I finished my meal. I am sure that during their ‘peak’ lunch and dinner hour the food is much fresher with greater turnover. However I will never have the opportunity to find out. Next time I will stay in town and go to the Grand Buffet(old Oriental Buffet) on Pacific at March Lane… not a gourmet place either but at least I would have saved the gas!

If you’re going to Yosemite, or coming from there, and you’re going to lose a lot of calories hiking or climbing, and only eating canned food … Why not treat yourself at New China Buffet ? Cheap food but still tasty and much better that any fast food chain. And remember: You’re coming from the backcountry, and they’re not going to judge you if you’ve not seen the shower during the weekend!

It’s the best Chinese buffet in Tracy. Not saying much for those out of the area, but screw the out of towners. Two things I really enjoyed: selection and price. You’re telling me I can have pizza with my fried rice and only pay 8 bucks? Yes, yes I am. Don’t expect it to be the best taste though, its a buffet. For the best(that’s taste, selection, and atmosphere) Chinese buffet in the Valley, go to my other post…

We saw all the great reviews here on Unilocal and couldn’t wait to try New China Buffet! I should have listened to Selina B. :-( Upon entering we were greeted by 3 very polite and happy people. This made us hope for the best, however when I entered a horrible smell blended of rancid grease, fishy seafood, and something else not quite right assailed me and I almost left before ever getting far enough into the building to be greeted. We should have left. Our server was really nice and got our drink orders IMMEDIATELY water for the handsome man & sprite for me(I say this so you can marvel over the total cost of the meal later). Then we went up to pick out munchies from the buffet line. Upon wandering over I couldn’t find the salad bar, when I finally did I realized I had missed it because it was mostly just some iceberg lettuce and about 5 different dressings. They had Pico De Gallo Salsa and stale tortilla chips the salsa was decent. Everything was scattered around with no reason to where it was placed. There was LOTS of food but most of it didn’t look appealing. There was fish at almost every station, why didn’t they keep it at one station? Or sort by cuisine or SOMETHING. We picked a few things and went back to our table. Everything was luke warm or cold, as in how did this place pass a health inspection because the temperature of the food is just right for bacteria growth. Many items looked like they had been sitting on the buffet line for HOURS and were dried out and luke warm so I refused to eat them reasoning they likely were not safe to eat. Everything was so bad I couldn’t eat it, or «just OK». We paid $ 28 for the experience… Very disappointing since we could have spent that much at a non-buffet place and been a LOT happier. oh and let us not forget the SCREAMING child 2 tables over, I mean truly SHRIEKING to the point my ears maxed out the same way they do when I’m exposed to a fire alarm, and I started sweating and shaking from the sheer level of the volume. Please take your child home if something is that wrong with their day. thank you…
