This was my first time there, the food was ok,. No complains on that end. The server was very nice, but I just got back to the office and checked my bank account that showed 4 different amounts were charged onto my account. I paid 25.00 cash, and put 10.70 on my card. Well on my bank account I show 4 pending charges for, $ 5.00, $ 25.00, $ 10.70 and $ 18.06. I called and was told that my card was accidently charged for 3 other tabs that were opened, and it was a mistake, that I would only be charged for the 10.70 I signed for. I am honestly still upset at the fact my money is now pending due to someone accidently charging, not one extra tab, but three? I am very understanding at the fact that mistakes happen, but this just seemed odd. Well that will definitely be the first and last visit. =(

Arrived before 120pm on a Wednesday afternoon and I waited at the bar for 10−15mins waiting to get served. Left at 130pm– not busy. I work in the same plaza and have eaten here in the past: burgers are just ok paired with beer. I no longer will return due to careless attitudes and overpriced items. I nicely said«bye» to the blonde girl who also ignored my presence as she stuffed straws into something at the bar. She nicely said«bye» too. 30mins left for lunch. Habit Burger across the street?

I love their burgers and sauces. My hubby and I placed an order online for pick-up. It was super easy and the staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive.

The parking can be tough to find, since the Counter is a part of a lot of other businesses(directly next to a Starbucks). They’ve revamped their menu, and offer a few more choices, such as a friend chicken patty or ground bison. It’s great to be able to customize everything, from the weight of your patty, the type of sauce, and the type of bun(Hawaiian bread FTW!). The employees are quick and prompt with their service, and are willing to answer any questions you might have. There is outdoor seating, which adds a great element on a sunny day. I’ll agree with the other reviewers in that the burgers are more on the pricey side, but I’m certainly willing to pay that amount to be able to customize the burger exactly how I’m feeling at that moment.

Point Counter Point— Second visit to this burger place on my second visit to CA beach communities. It was conveniently located, as we were too hungry to drive a bit further to the infamous In-N-Out burger. Our server was gracious enough, in that stereotypical kinda waiter way. One of our party only ordered a salad with some hot water and lemon – which rather threw our waiter for a loop. Apparently, they don’t get many requests for hot water & lemon as it arrived served in a milk shake glass instead of a cup! I ordered the classic Counter Burger and a side of fries, but seriously! Even at Bobby Flay’s burger joints, the $ 13 burger COMESWITHFRIES! My burger arrived medium rare as ordered but somewhat cold. The shoestring fries were most definitely COLD as were my onion rings that topped my burger but our waiter was no where in sight so we just ate them as they were. My grandson’s burger was a bit cold too but because we were so hungry and our waiter was absent, we just endured and he didn’t check back to see if we were happy with our meal! My daughter’s salad looked a bit anemic but she wasn’t complaining and in the Counter’s defense, who orders a SALAD in a burger joint anyway? The waiter reappeared to clear the table(we declined dessert for the near by yogurt place) and dropped the check. He took the check and credit card right away but did not reappear for over 15 minutes which gives me some separation anxiety from my credit card. 2 burgers, one salad, side fries, NO drinks and the bills came to $ 52 w/tax, sans tip. I had better for less at Bobby Flays, j/s!

it’s been a while since we’d been back. life catches up to you, you have another kid, end up eating at home a lot more, etc. anyway we came here w/my in-laws for a sunday lunch. service was great. our waiter was friendly, attentive and made sure we had enough of everything. and my goodness the menu had changed like crazy. so many more options and offerings. they even had a spicy korean spread! of course i had to try it and it was really good; right amount of kick and you could really taste the gochujang in the sauce. my burger was cooked a perfect med/rare, too. we also noticed that their parm fries had much more cheese this time around bc when we used to get it, there would only be cheese on the top. now they put layers of cheese all throughout the entire bowl. big improvement. hope to be back again, soon.

The food here is great! I created my own burger. Very good. It was a tad overpriced. The $ 13 burger does not come with any sides and each side is over $ 3. So 1 burger, 1 salad, 2 sodas and a side of Cole slaw came out to $ 45. They need to reevaluate their prices.

Parking is next to impossible anywhere near the restaurant but there’s more further in. It was a mellow dining experience with a few flaws. Parm fries were tasty and filled my girlfriend and I up before our food even came, and wet didn’t even eat half. The burger we had made was good, but we had it split, and each had two completely different looking halves, so we fixed it ourselves, and grubbed down. Very tasty burger. They had forgotten our milkshake, so we got it for free and to-go. I ordered a banana, peanut butter, coffee and malted milk, milkshake. It was very good but very disappointing, because we couldn’t taste any coffee at all. Still, all around a decent trip. Kinda forgetful waiter, but hey, we all smoke weed, so I understand. Lol

* Build Your Own Burger * 1. Burger: it’s hard to say whether the burgers are good or not because it’s ultimately based off of how well you build your own burger. ** I had a chicken breast burger on brioche and the quality and taste of the chicken were pretty good. I would get it again. Chicken pairs well with Basil Pesto, Danish Bleu Cheese, Bacon, and Avacado. Pesto sauce was great, Bleu Cheese was super rich, cant go wrong with Avacado, but the Applewood Smoked Bacon was salty and over-cooked(I had to spit out some pieces because it was too difficult to chew). 2. Shoestring Fries: super thin and crispy fries. Delicious! 3. Fried Onion Strings: good stuff. If you’re gonna get this in your burger, instead of paying $ 1.25 for a small amount, just get a side of it for $ 3.25 and put it in the burger yourself, share it with friends, and eat it as a side as well!

This place never disappoints. If there is a downside it’s how many options they give you. It can be a little overwhelming but i’d much rather have more options than less. If you’re in the neighborhood id highly recommend this place. The quality and the quantity is well worth the price. And ask for Jasmine if you’re here. She always provides great service

As far as easy reviews go — this is the one. Never had to wait for a table, never had a long wait for the food, no matter how big of a pack of people I dragged in there with me… and always left the place feeling happy and well fed. They have one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. Even if you’re an unapologetic meat eater — give the veggie a try. Delicious.

I happened upon The Counter a while back when we were looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch. I always head down Torrance Blvd, so I decided to stop at this location and check it out. At The Counter, their concept is great. When you get your menu, you also get a sheet of ingredients and preferences to build your custom burger, whether it is beef, chicken, veggie, or even bison! If you want bigger, just get bigger! If you are too lazy to do that, you can order their set burgers from their stand-alone menu. Just a word of warning though, the more ingredients you add, the costs go up. I ordered a 1⁄3 lb bison burger and it was great. All the ingredients are fresh and the meat is organic and humane apparently. It was truly a great tasting burger. The fried onion strips are worth a visit alone. The sweet potato fries are great too! I want to add that the service was definitely on point here. Maybe it was because it was a Monday around noon and the place was farily empty, but they are on top of everything. Assuming you don’t go overboard with the ingredients, it can get pricey in terms of what you would pay for a regular burger combo at any other fast food place. If you decide to go here, don’t walk in with that mentality. You pay for quality of food, service, and the selections you wouldn’t normally get at any other burger joint. Will definitely be back here to sample some more choices(and possibly even one of their delicious milkshakes)!

Smallish location compared to the ones we’ve been to in our neighborhood. However, they weren’t «small» when it came to customer service, quality and taste of the food. It’s consistent from location to location. Chris took great care of us and quickly corrected an error in my daughter’s order. The half onion strings/half sweet potato fries was very well received my us, especially by my very picky mother!

The Counter is one of my go-to burger restaurants in Torrance. Their menu is extensive, they serve beer, wine, and adult milkshakes, and they have a to-go option so I can enjoy a burger in the comfort of my sweatpants at home :) The menu truly has something for everyone. They have a variety of patties, including turkey, bison, and a vegetarian option. They even have a «burger in a bowl» option, which is basically everything in the burger except the bread. This is a great option for people who are following a paleo or keto diet. They also have a build your own burger option, where you can choose from a wide selection of ingredients. I’ll opt to create my own burger on days when I’m feeling especially creative, but on lazier days(which is more often than not) I’ll stick to their preset burgers. I ordered a meal to-go last night(they also have online ordering!). Pickup is very simple — you can either pay at the counter or online. I ordered The Official Counter Burger, which comes with grilled mushrooms and onion strings. It was very tasty, and the burger was cooked a perfect medium. My boyfriend ordered the Market Selection, which is a Braised Short Rib Burger this month. The Market Selections tend to be very hit or miss, and he felt this burger was just so-so. We also shared an order of sweet potato fries. While I typically love these fries, when you order them to-go the box seals in the steam from the fries, which makes them very soggy. I’ll opt for a different side next time I order to-go. Remember to check in on Unilocal — $ 5 off orders of $ 20 or more!

Well, I finally had an opportunity to try this place and I was a bit underwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong the food was pretty good, but the hype around this place may have set my expectations a bit too high. They offer a variety of burgers, Bison, Veggie, Sirloin, custom made, with a million types of cheese, condiments and toppings. Okay, I’m exaggerating, but it was a lot. I was overwhelmed by the number of options. hehe The burger itself was cooked well; but nothing I would write home about. I wish I could tell you how amazing their hand cut fries were; but sure enough the fryer was broken at the start of lunch hour. I wonder how many patrons were as disappointed as I was that day. I figured if they couldn’t even provide a full meal they would have at least tried to offer a free soda, a coupon or something but nope… they just said sorry, Burger Bare today! =( Not that I think«free» is the requirement, but it would have been nice to try to make up for such a big issue. But that is just my opinion. I’ll have to try it again and see if my experience is better.

Always enjoy a burger at the counter. My usual is to get the goat cheese with garlic sauce on 1⁄3 pound burger(medium, which is slight pink). They are known to have great shoestring fries. 1⁄3 lb is $ 9.50 with unlimited toppings! Its on the pricy side for a burger but it is quality u can enjoy n feel good about!

Went for dinner on Nov 7. The restaurant was busy but a table was available. Our order was taken and all was going well. The food was better than usual. When our order came, we were missing just a small item. We were missing a 1000 island dressing. It was ordered however was not on the plate when delivered. We contacted our waiter who advised he would take care of the missing item. After 8 minutes, the dressing finally came. I realize that a POS system is necessary for inventory however when a customer is waiting for the item, it can be taken care of after the customer has the item. I guess what really irritated me, is I was watching one of the employees texting or doing something on his iPhone. A majority of the time, this food establishment does a great job however it just takes one time to make this«Counter» a DNR(Do Not Return) Thanks

Did a quick Unilocal search for a burger place that served wine. The Counter popped up. I was glad to see it because I’ve been tot The Counter in Mid-Wilshire and loved it.(by the way, they also serve beer on tap) This place doesn’t have the ambiance of their Mid-Wilshire location. It reminded me a lot of the Five Guys, and not in a good way. The lighting is way too bright because it’s the fluorescent industrial kind, or at least has that feel, even though the fixtures are nice looking. I wish they’d mellow it out a bit to create a warmer ambiance. They are kind of hidden, in a corner next to Starbucks. You can easily miss it if you’re heading in from the east heading west. There are lots of restaurants in the parking lot, and there’s tons of parking. It wasn’t too crowded. Easy to find a seat. I was surprised because the Mid-Wilshire Counter is always packed. I liked that I didn’t have to wait. We were confused whether we find our own seating or wait to be seated. It’s the former. Had to ask the staff. A little sign would answer that question pronto. Still confused. Not sure if we were to order at the counter or have a server take our order. Again, had to get up and ask. Kind of a clunky start. In this case, it’s the latter. The server brings a menu, and in the back, you get a piece of paper to fill out to build your own burger. So many choices of things to put on the burger. Actually so many that it’s not fun. I would have gladly opted for a few that were already built so it would be quick and easy to order. The server was really friendly. Never did come to check on our food, but still, he was cool The burger itself didn’t disappoint. I made the mistake of cooking it medium well. I should have ordered medium to get a little more pink, but it was still really really good and it was my fault for not ordering it a little less cooked. The toppings were sparse and didn’t seem to matter much. The meat is so good on its own, that the toppings are truly secondary, as it should be. There were plenty of napkins, and you’ll need ‘em…but no paper towels in men’s restroom. I guess they save the paper for the napkins. I like this place. I hope they’ll do something about the harsh lighting, though. Oh yah, if you check in on Unilocal you get $ 5 off your order of $ 20 or more. Shuh-weet!

Went out last night with the family and had a very good time. They make great customized burgers and hand cut fries, both regular and sweet potato. We has several varieties of burgers, ranging from Bison, Sirloin and Veggie custom made patties, with all types of cheeses, condiments and toppings. Extremely healthy and fresh. The service was very good. They also offer several types of buns, from lettuce, regular to gluten free without tasting like that. The only drawback is that it’s pricey and they have bathrooms that only allow for one person at a time, so when you have to use it that can be problematic. Other than that it’s an ideal place when you need to get your healthy burger fix from time to time. We will definitely be back!

Came here for the first time today. The spot was surprisingly not busy. The menu kind of has a lot going on, felt like I was taking the SAT with all those options. They surprisingly had a large beer wine and liquor selection. I ended up getting a 2⁄3 lb with bacon, «yellow american» cheese, mixed greens, red onions, pickles and garlic aioli. With a side of potato fries and onion rings 50⁄50 and an arnold palmer. I wanted a coffee shake with kahlua but apparently they were out of their hard liquor. :( Food and service were excellent. You’re looking at about $ 15.
