This place has my favorite sushi ever. I usually get a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll. I’ve never had spicy tuna or spicy salmon that tastes better than it does at Foova. Highly recommend. This is a total mom and pop operation too so you can feel good about supporting a small business. There are only like 3– 4 tables but you can order take– out. :)

First review on Unilocal and I thought this place was worthy. I absolutely love this place! Ingredients are fresh and owners are friendly. I come here at least twice a week and I can never get enough of the spicy tuna and chicken teriyaki rolls. Best sushi joint around!

This place is so filthy. Hard to imagine the health dept doesn’t give them a hard time.

Poorly made roll. Was not inside out like I requested. They don’t deliver so I would not go out of my way again.

Food is decent, but that is where it stops. It takes an hour to get a roll here even when the place is empty, prices are higher than other local sushi places, and they don’t even take Amex. If you’re fond of expensive food that takes forever to get to your plate and views of dumpsters outside, then come to Foova.

This is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant(and my family LOVES sushi, so we get Foova at least once a week). The spicy tuna roll with crunch is to die for.

This is my favorite sushi place to go to when I’m home from Boston. The sushi is always fresh. The food doesn’t usually take over 30 minutes to get to me, unlike other reviewers said — it usually just takes 10 minutes. I don’t think that the management is rude at all, just reserved. It’s a family business, which I fully support. I hope to visit again soon :)

I used to love foova, but recently the management staff is rude and could care less about their customers. You have to wait 45 mins, they never answer the phone so if you really want you have to go there to order. Skip this place unless you have all day to wait for food, and want to deal with rude management. Also noticed the owner I suppose smokes out front the door making the whole restaurant smell. Just awesome. Total skip.

Foova is amazing and any excuse you have to the contrary is a reflection of your own imperfections and inadequacies.

Is the 1 roll you ordered worth waiting 30 minutes when you’re the only person in the restaurant? If so, then foova is for you. The sushi is tasty but I can’t stand waiting as long as it takes… Honestly, people have places to go and there isn’t much excuse for this type of service…

Servings are small and the prices are steep considering what you get BUT very delicious. I’d rather have a little of something amazing than a lot of something that doesn’t taste that great. I ordered spicy salmon with crunchies on top and it’s fantastic. Seaweed salad is good as well. They should add at least spicy tuna to the lunch menu. Right now it’s basically just California roll. WOMP.

absolutely my favorite sushi place. so unique. who would have thought that a little hole-in-the-wall place would be so amazing. if you don’t know what to order, their most popular role is the spicy tuna with avocado and crunch. instead of having the avocado inside the roll, they chop up little pieces and sprinkle them on top. the rice is super soft and amazing. YUM.

Im going to keep this short and straight to the point. This is one of the best sushi I ever eaten. I order the spicy tuna and salmon avocado. It was very fresh and I loved the orange sauce on the spicy tuna. The place is very small and looked clean. The sushi is also fairly priced for the area. Defiantly will be coming here more often.

Very disappointed after the reviews. It was just meh. Fish quality was just ok and the pieces were small… sliced very thin. The miso soup was very good, which is why I added an extra star.

I was told about Foova by a 16 year old girl. This may be the most fascinating thing about this surprise-you-with-the-best-sushi-in-the-area hole in the wall: this place is like some kind of cult classic for the female teenager. Seeing an adult in Foova is about as rare as seeing a cat on a leash. And I have NEVER seen anyone of the male variety in Foova. So what, pray tell do these girls know that the rest of us don’t? Perhaps that the spicy tuna roll is reeedunculous!!! The Caterpillar Roll to be exact. Get it «spicy with crunch and tobiko». Eat and be amazed. It just melts in your mouth! I frequent this little joint regularly — for the past 2 and a half years. Once you find what you like, the cravings are intense. I have tried a few other things on the menu: Eel roll — wasn’t amazed. Love a tempura sweet potato and asparagus roll(I made that up — it’s good). Foova salad — super yummy, huge and filling(avocado, shredded crab legs, tobiko(fish eggs), and spicy mayo). Shumai — standard. Miso Soup — mmmm… And that’s all I’ve tried — cause I’m ADDICTED to the Spicy Caterpillar Roll with crunch and tobiko!!! Oh no… craving now. must have… Keep in mind, this place is best for take out. But it tastes so fresh! Love you Foova!!!

This place has been around for a long time. Their Miso soup is awesome and a good comfort food /drink when you are not feeling well(i.e. a flu).

This is my first Unilocal review and I only write it because I truly love this place. I have had sushi all over the world and this is my favorite take-out place. Who knew Tenafly, NJ would get this treasure?!

Absolutely bar-none my favorite sushi place. In a tiny town in New Jersey? I know, I know, but give it a try. I usually get the spicy tuna rolls, which are absolutely perfect. The atmosphere is charming, and the family that runs it is really nice. I can’t recommend this place enough.
