La Pizzeria

This is a wonderful place, don’t except any fancy Italian restaurant, but this «pizzeria» is delicious and authentic!

This restaurant in itself is a reason to visit Telluride Mountain Village. After being warmly greeted, we were expertly assisted through their award winning wine list and their extensive menu. I started with whisper thin carpaccio and went on to magnificent t Tagliolini Aragosta Fra Diavolo. It rivaled any pasta I had in my many trips to Italy. My husband loved his delicately balanced Vitello ai Capperi e Carciofini. Atmosphere is authentic, comfortable, and welcoming. We brought friends bak a few weeks later and they every bit as pleased as we had been.

I’m only giving this place an third star because the atmosphere is very nice. As far as the food what a waste! There’s not enough salt or pepper in the pasta to come close to tasting Italian. There was no garlic in anything. We started with the Minestrone soup. It was so watered down we tried some Parmesan cheese salt and pepper but there was no richness in the broth. I had the Caesar Salad which had nice shavings of Parmesan but a very strong tasting of anchovy basically nothing special
We both chose pasta for our entrees. A rigatoni with sausage and broccoli and a bland marina sauce. I had spaghetti bolganas which as another reviewer remarked totally devoid of any Italian flavor. No oregano, no garlic, no basil, all basic herbs in Italian cooking. I make a better pasta and I’m Jewish! This place has a captive audience, trust me not a place that I’ll spend my money at. Walk on by.

Asked for garlic knots. They don’t make them. But they stated they would make garlic, olive oil and fresh basil pizza. Was so happy bc I’m dairy allergic. Was thin, crispy and delicious. Ingredients were very fresh. Like one reviewer stated, crust was like eating in Italy.

We brought a large group of people here for pizza. The staff was friendly and polite. Everyone enjoyed the pizza and had a good time.
Their pizza is the thin crust variety. Not greasy at all. I feel that if a pizza place can make a plain cheese pizza taste good, it’s a good restaurant. And, this place certainly makes a great cheese pizza.
Considering that they are at a ski resort, their prices are very reasonable.

Had a wonderful meal at this quaint little restaurant in Mountain Village (Telluride).
The staff was very attentive and personable. Felt like I was dining with the family.
The pizzas were excellent and the atmosphere was perfect.
Will definitely go back!

Don’t bother going here. The lasagna noodles were way overlooked. I got to witness a 10 minute argument over gelato by the staff. Keep moving. There better choices in the area

Seriously and I mean seriously this is the worse pizza I have ever seen. If I would have thought of it I would have posted a pic of this «pizza». Don’t do it! What pizza joint does not know what a meat lovers pizza is… seriously pissed right now!

So, I’ll preface this to say that I am a Pizza Snob and LOVE THIN CRUST PIZZA yet at times Pizza Hut can do the trick.
So, we found this place this year and were so excited when we read about it and literally walked out of the house in a blizzard just to go try it out. First impressions: GREAT! there were actually Italians running the place, they had Peroni, there menu is small, but that is how a good pizza place should be.
So we order some Peroni’s and some apps. We did not get our beer’s until after our Pizza came out (which was after our apps) 1^st strike.
A ceasar salad in an italian restaurant without Anchovies? Really? 2^nd strike
A Margherita pizza without basil? There Margherita pizza was a plain cheese pizza from anywhere usa pizza shop, there crust was good, not great, thin crust is not the easiest pizza to make and the pizza chef needs to be constantly monitoring, it was somewhat underdone. 3^rd strike
The Diavola pizza, one of my all time favorite combinations, very simple, Tomato, mozzarella and Spicy Salami. Easy right, well they use the same pepperoni as they do on their pepperoni pizza. I know pepperoni is a type of salami, but in the pizza world, spicy salami should be thicker cut and is usually less greasy. Strike 4, so ready to leave and go next door to Poachers!
All in all, it wasn’t horrible (the food) just not what expected at all and a bit of a bait and switch.

If you’re looking for Domino’s style pizza, don’t bother. BUT if you want authentic, thin crust, fresh and not greasy, this is the place for you.
Simple menu, quality ingredients, basic no frills atmosphere and fairly affordable for Telluride.

We were a bit nervous about trying this restaurant after previous reviews, but had tired children that we needed to feed on a cold night. We were pleasantly surprised! Please do not expect a Domino’s/Pizza Hut style pizza. The pizza is more of a thin crust European style pizza. I had the Margherita (go to for thin crust) and was quite pleased with the amount of toppings and the crispness of the crust. My wife had the lasagna bolognese which was excellent. We all enjoyed a gelato for dessert. The pizzeria appears to be the sister restaurant to the more expensive La Piazza Del Villaggio which I will definitely be dining at on my next trip to Telluride. Prices and service were comparable to every other resort town (beach & ski) that we have vacationed in over the past few years. If you want cheesy greasy American style pizza, you should head to another restaurant. If you want homemade crust and quality ingredients, this your place!

We ran into this place on accident expecting it to be something else. We were looking for the restaurant it shares a building with, but when we walked into that restaurant it was a lot different from what the Unilocal reviews showed. Because the restaurant we walked into was way too fancy for what we were looking for we thought the restaurant next to it might be the place we were originally looking for. Well unfortunately this was not the place we were looking for either, but because it was late and we were starving we thought we would give it a try. If you are looking for a cheaper experience this would be the place. The little restaurant is set up in a very odd way, as soon as you walk in you are greeted by the pizza oven, the waiter’s station and a mini freezer with gelato. This is surrounded by many plastic tables, with fold up picnic chairs. The menu has a few choices of salads, pizzas (with no substitutions) and a few different lasagnas. We ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza, there was nothing special about this pizza at all. There was really no flavor, the crust was burnt and it was very greasy. The staff the night that we visited were very friendly and helpful, but it didn’t help the fact that my boyfriend and I were caught off guard when we first walked in, expecting more. The next time we go to Telluride I have to say we won’t be visiting this place.

Terrible food.
Tasteless and overpriced lasagna. Tasteless pizza. Their «Crostini bread» was toasted white wonder bread. Gross.
Additionally, an extra charge for parmesan cheese? AT AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT!
Would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal.

La pizzeria is a nice place to go with children. A pizza and a salad for 2 is good and you can get some good gelatto for desert. For 15 or 20 bucks a piece you’ll get full.

Noting the concerns of another review here, I thought I’d add my two cents — this is a great addition to all the interesting choices for food in Telluride. This little sister restaurant to Piazza del Villagio on the plaza in the Mountain Village in Telluride is great fun. The pizza is real, authentic, Italian pizza from a wood fired hearth, as these owners do at their Rustico Ristorante in town. Food prices are reasonable, you can have a real Caesar salad as opposed to what passes for one in most American eateries, and there are gelatos for dessert for the whole family. Short menu, nothing fancy, very good and unpretentious food.
That’s what I think!
