We came here on a recommendation that this was the best Thai food in town. We were very disappointed. We only ordered the Tom Yum(hot and spicy) soup and Green Curry, both with… chicken? As we waited for our soup to come out, our server brought our bowls and spoons. I have NEVER been to a restaurant that brings out dishes that are so broken with years of food stuck to them. I had to ask for a regular spoon as I nearly lost my stomach looking at the food on the original spoon they gave me. I can understand one spoon slipping by(well, not really), but my husband’s spoon had the same green looking schmegma encrusted all over it. The regular, metal utensils did not have food stuck on them… whew. Our soup arrived and I got a whiff of something that somewhat turned my tummy. It smelled like rotten meat. I kept thinking it was from the dumpster behind us, but we closed the window so it couldn’t have been. Maybe a specialty dish coming from the kitchen? I ate the soup. The broth was okay, the chicken was dry. It was missing something… maybe more veggies or the shrimp that the menu said it came with but didn’t? Our Green Curry arrived and another wave of rotten meat came through. Again, I thought it was either the dumpster or the kitchen… this time I knew it was my dish. I ate a few bites and had to stop. My husband and I also ordered 2 Thai Teas each as our beverage. When we received the bill, our teas ended up being $ 24!!! We were schocked! I have never paid so much for half and half and a pre-made Thai Tea mix… ever!!! We left very disappointed paying over $ 65 for 2 dishes that smelled awful and 4 teas. I can understand if the food was amazing… I’ll pay for that. But when your food arrives smelling like spoiled meat, twice, and your very simple tea is a third of your bill… something is wrong. This was the last meal of our trip… not the way we had hoped to end it. I do not recommend this place.

Like Siam’s, only more spacious. The prices seem higher though the food is not as good as Siam. Still a good experience as the services was very good and the atmosphere was more accommodating to conversations.

Disappointed. Satay was spongy. Most of the meat(chicken & elk) was pretty fatty. The Thai fried rice w chicken was very good. But the sampling of lettuce wrap, bun, hand rolls was not good.

First of all, lets be clear. This is not a Thai Restaurant. The sign out front does not say Thai. The website does not say Thai. It is «An Asian Tapas and Seafood» restaurant. It is also located at 9,500 feet above sea level. In a ski resort. In a hotel. That being said, the food, for the most part, was tasty yet bland, the service was decent, and I would come back. In fact, this was my second visit. We started with the chicken satay. It was juicy, not burnt, and had a char broiled aroma. The peanut sauce was thick but not too thick. Next was the king crab roll and the beef roll. Both were delicious, had great sauces, and left us wanting more. The drunkin noodle was terrible and gummy. I would not order again. The southern thai salad was light, refreshing and was top notch. Finally, we enjoyed the scallops with an assortment of dipping sauces. Overall, a bland but mostly delicious asian tapas restaurant.

Stay away from Talay First, let’s set the stage… This place is an Asian restaurant in the bottom of a hotel and the food is closer to take out than a Michelin Star. Several laughable moments during our visit… mostly about the service, but the food received a few chuckles as well. All of the employees seemed bothered and overwhelmed with their half filled restaurant. The bartender even guilted a couple into leaving his bar because he was«just too overwhelmed»… The apps and entrees were served all at the same time. My Pad Thai and elk steamed bun were so-so. Another person at my table had the Pad se-ew, oddly spelt«Pad se-eaw» on the menu? Apparently the extra«a» is their special laxative, sure did its job! ;-) Avoid this place until Gordon Ramsay or Tabatha take it over…

Never made it to the restaurant but if the service there is as good as the bar, it’s a hit! Nice to find a great«hole in the wall» in Mountain Village. Steve, the bartender, knows how to poor a drink and is a pleasure to converse with! Had to work to find decent customer service in Mountain Village but found it here!

The ventilation in this restaurant is so bad I was choking from the fumes! This was honestly some of the worst food we have ever had. My husband had the chef special which is a steak dish and he said it was«fishy». Gross.

Finally tried the Mountain Village location after being a fan of the town’s Siam location. So disappointed in the Talay Grille it’s literally painful to think about. First, I’m still in absolute shock days later over the bill. I keep thinking there must have been an error otherwise I have never paid so much, for so very little food or menu selection. I wasn’t particularly pleased with how they treated me for such a price tab and the food was so off the mark I simply can’t explain how they still exist… and equally can be a sibling to the amazing Siam in town. It looks like with other reviews, this version of Siam is truly a hit or a miss. And if it’s a miss, you’ll be greatly disappointed.

We had a great dinner for 10 at Talay. We ordered a selection of appetizers and entrees to share… The food was great and the service was just right. Hope to return soon!

The food was exceptional and the service was great. They got us(a large group) a private room on short notice and sold us a pint of cream so we could make ice cream at home instead of getting dessert at the restaurant.

We ate here recently for dinner. The many posted reviews gave us a hint as to what to expect; either good or disappointment. We got disappointment. In an upscale place like the Mountain Village you expect higher prices but hope to get the corresponding good food. I had grilled fish which came with an unpleasant fish odor. Otherwise both of our dishs were rather bland. If there was a high point it was the tempura fried Shishito(?) chiles! We will not be going back but then again you may like the food.

GREAT food, beautiful restaurant. We tried a couple of appetizers that I can’t remember and they were full of flavor. For dinner we tried the Pad Thai with chicken and the Ahi Tuna; very good but not super fantastic. Dessert was the custard with coconut sticky rice and it was excellent and a great variation to the traditional custard. Overall, it wasn’t the best Thai food we’ve had but it was a nice dinner.

This place kind of missed. It started off with a menu that you cant read because of the plastic covering, and it kind of went downhill from there. Considerably more expensive than the Thai restaurant in downtown Telluride, Siam, and given my druthers, that’s where I would go in the future

I’m a Thai food snob. But I have everything right to be since I grew up with Southeast Asian flavors. The décor was very elegantly Thai-American. Same statement can be applied to the food. It’s fine dining but unauthentic and lacks the spices and fire of a Thai food. It’s worth a try but keep ur expectations low.

OVERVIEW: Thoroughly disappointed. A lot of things on the menu were hit and miss, and even the best things I tasted were pretty mediocre. The slow service, high price, and attempt at fusion food definitely missed the mark. A shame, just because I love Telluride so much, and this place is in such a fantastic location. I think the original Siam’s is better than this place. First of all, the décor is incredibly tacky and try-hard. With many fountains, multiple buddha statues, beads strung over objects, flowers, plushy exotic pillows, statues, random vases, baubles hanging off of things, the place reeked of inauthenticity. The décor was eclectic and was not in the least bit streamlined. It definitely foreshadowed the type of food to come. Second of all, the service was INCREDIBLYSLOW. I made a reservation at 6:45, and we weren’t seated until 7:00 even though the place wasn’t packed. It wasn’t until 7:50 did we get our appetizers, and 8:20 til our entrees. The tea had even taken them 15 minutes to get to the table. I had more than drained my class until we had to ask to get our water refilled, which at that point I had already drank a portion of my brother’s water too. Our waiter was pretty energetic and passionate, but he also resorted to self-deprecating jokes about the food and service which did not give off a great impression. He hyped up the food so much that it led to even a greater disappointment. And the most important aspect, the food! The menu consisted of hand rolls, gwa pao(a steamed white dough-y pancake that is then folded so that it may be filled with meat and other things. I am very familiar with these being Asian American), and entrees. THEAPPETIZERS: The hand rolls are pretty hit and miss. I had ordered a salmon hand roll, and I swear the chef forgot the sauce. The pâté and the crispy duck hand rolls were pretty good. The gwa pao were pretty good, pretty standard. I wished for a little bit more balance, complexity, and sweetness however. Their play on some fusion asian chowder was SO incredibly salty. Our table of 7 did not even come close to finishing it. Food being overly salty was a pretty common thread throughout the night. THEENTREES: These were pretty hit and miss as well. My lobster tail came with a pretty great butter sauce but it did tend to overpower the delicate flavor of the lobster. My father and family friend had overcooked proteins. The attempt at fusion indian food consisted of sour, overcooked, dry, and over-cumined chicken. My siblings entrees were just pretty good, nothing spectacular. THEPRICE: We ordered enough to be satisfied, but not enough to be completely full. Despite this, the bill ended up to be $ 300 for 7 people! Definitely more expensive than we had anticipated and exceptionally overpriced for the food we ate.

Talk about overpriced trendy food! So the theme is asian fusion tapas which pretty much means handrolls and steamed buns(bao). The handrolls are not seaweed or lettuce or anything I really recognize — they look like thick tissue paper in greens and pinks and taste like edible rice paper(not saying this is bad, just a description). We tried the crispy duck steamed bun which was crispy and dry. Very mediocre — there was just no interesting flavor there. To top it off the waiter didn’t bring the hot sauce until about 15min after we started getting our food so I couldn’t even salvage it. Somehow the crispy duck handroll was much better. The curried chicken handroll has a spicy kick which I usually like. It was an interesting medley of flavors but nothing more. Their one authentic asian dish — Kao Soi — was so disappointing I am angry at this restaurant’s existence. Its a dish of «steamed noodles» in Thai curry. Its about 50:50 steamed noodle and crispy noodle. Crispy noodles are supposed to be a garnish and they make it a huge portion of this dish… They throw in a few pieces of peppers and onions in there, described as «garnish» in their menu so half a handful total. The broth is so salty it is almost painful. Last but not least, the chicken is dry and overcooked! One of the worst attempts at an Asian dish I’ve ever tasted. I definitely do not recommend going to this restaurant unless you’re just going for drinks.
