We ordered over $ 70.00 of food to be delivered. We were told it would arrive in 40 minutes. I called 1 hour after placing the order to get an e.t.a. I was informed the driver left 30 minutes after the order was placed. I was tempted to cancel my order, but I’ll admit it, we were hungry. The driver arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes after I placed the order. I informed the driver that I was told that it would be half price from my conversation with the person at the restaurant. The driver said«No, he would take the food back». I asked if he wanted to call them before he left, he said«No», and left. All I got from the person at the restaurant was«I’m sorry». Not the best customer service. This was very disappointing, especially since we’ve been loyal eat in and delivery customers since before they were Tao Gardens. Not even a call back to see how they could correct this.

I have been looking for a great Chinese restaurant in the Tarzana area for years. Tao was exceptional. In addition to great food, the service and ambiance was wonderful.

Took a chance. Interior was beautiful and clean with well lighted tables. I was the only one there on a Sunday night. Ordered hot and sour soup. Was good but average. Ordered the fish with garlic sauce that was supposed to have bell peppers, black mushrooms, onions, and water chestnuts. Received fish with broccoli, onions, and garlic sauce. Too hungry so I ate it anyway. It was good but not sure what kind of fish it was. Texture was odd. Not flaky but kind of a fatty texture. Ordered the Tao Garden fried rice to go. Lots of various meat and some shrimp. Pretty good not great. Just moved to LA and have been trying to find a good Chinese restaurant. Out of the 3 I’ve been to this one is best so far. Probably not saying much.

Great service. Good food. They are very accommodating if your vegetarian. The décor is inviting. There’s a nice bar with a large screen tv that is a welcoming aspect to this neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I highly recommend it.

Back again. Love the Mongolian beef. The portions are large and there is plenty for leftovers. The booths are large and roomy and it has never been noisy. Service is very quick and professional. Ask for Tim!

The best Chinese food you could get in LA. You have to try the Honey Walnut Shrimp — so fricking delicious!

Two stars for great service and portions(their prices definitely matched their portions, in translation $$). My husband was craving for sizzling rice soup and we didn’t want to go to our usual Chinese place so we decided to go Tao Garden since we live pretty close to this place. My husband and I have never been here so we decided to give it a try. For one thing, I hate dark restaurants and this place was very dark. It depresses me, so far this restaurant is not on my «must eat» place. We ordered the following: Large Sizzling Rice Soup with Chicken($ 8) — Size of a cappuccino cup, I was amazed that the waitress was able to scoop the soup into 4 cups. However, the cups were the size of tea cups. The soup was tasty with lots of fresh veggies. I didn’t like the chicken. The chicken was very spongy so what they did was soak the cooked chicken in water to expand it to make it look bigger. Shao Long Bao 6 small pieces($ 7) — Did not have enough soup and the meat was also very spongy and the wrapper was very thick. Broccoli Chicken($ 14) — Not a fan, spongy chicken with undercook broccoli was not thing. Moo Shu Chicken($ 14) — It was OK, lots of veggies but the spongy chicken turned me off. Didn’t have enough Hoisin sauce so we had to get some on the side. The sauce was very watery so that was weird because the sauce itself from a bottle is usually thick. Tao Chicken($ 14) — It was kinda like sweet and sour chicken without the pineapple, bell peppers and onions. Shrimp with Black Bean Sauce($ 18) — Did not like the shrimp tasted very fishy. Enough said. BBQ Pork with Broccoli —($ 15) — This probably the best dish out of all of the dishes. The pork was tasty but the broccoli was hard. Won’t be back.

We have returned. This place is quaint. There doesn’t seem to be anyone here but that’s alright I hear take out orders and order pick up. Today we ordered calamari, veggie spring roll, chicken and broccoli and teriyaki chicken. All delicious. Sorry no pictures today

Hands down this is the classiest chinese food restaurant I have ever experienced. It’s quite a hidden gem in the alley as the restaurant itself looks very simple from the outside. Once you enter it is quite mind blowing with its décor and its fully stocked bar. The bar itself looks amazing and I’ve never seen a chinese restaurant with this level of class. If you’re a fan of classier dining and want to get your orange chicken fix at the same time, you must stop by the Tao Garden.

Came here for lunch on a Monday and I was not disappointed. It’s beautiful on the inside and the service is great. They have a good sized menu too. We started off with wonton soup, shrimp and chicken egg rolls, and the shumai all of which were AHHMAZING but the soup was easily the best I’ve ever had… and I’ve had a lot of wonton soup. Then we had the Hawaiian fried rice and chicken chow mein which was good too. All of the food came quick and the waiter was so nice. 5 stars for sure!

Should have been wiser when I found this place empty at 8:00 pm on a Thursday. I mean empty! This place is everything I hate about Bad Chinese food. Over salted, greasy, cold and tasteless. Truly awful. The old Mandsrin Tiger is rolling over in its grave. Will not return.

Been here a few times since moving to the area… I’ve been on the fence about writing this review for a while now. Reason being, I’ve had both good and HORRENDOUS experiences here… The food is really good, but overpriced for sure. The service is hit or miss. I say this with regard to our most recent, and most likely last, on Christmas Day. We waited 45 minutes to be seated, 1 ½ hours for our food, our server NEVER visited our table after we ordered and we even got our own drink refills(literally). We watched 4 other tables get up and leave in exasperation. When we were finally able to flag someone(not our server) down to get the check we expressed our dismay. This person didn’t give a damn and now neither do I…

OK this place is really not looked good from the outside as the old place was there for over twenty years and it looked as if it had been completely redone. We decided to try on a Saturday night and I guess we were the only ones, the place was empty except for us… not a good sign. We ordered a Chinese Chicken Salad, wow did they mess this up. I think no one had ever ordered this before because it seemed like the chef made up the recipe on the fly. It had dried cherries and Thousand island dressing, what? This is a Chinese restaurant, there should be no thousand island dressing anywhere! Then we got egg rolls, this should have been safe but they were seriously awful with no flavor. Sorry Tao we will never return, it will not last!

We went there last night for our annual Christmas dinner. We are never going back again. Service was terrible, food was cold, we had to ask 2 times what happened to our Wonton soup, that was suppose to be brought before the main dishes. Nobody came to refill water glasses, and we had to ask them to take away dirty dishes. The restaurant was busy, but not full, and there was no excuse for the poor service and cold food. I am writing this restaurant OFF my list forever.

This has to be the crappiest place ever!!! Placed the order over 2 hours ago and it still ain’t here! Have called them several times and they keep saying it’ll be there in 5 minutes! We live 10 minutes away! They say they are calling the driver Angel and then we call back and they say they don’t have Angels cell number. NEVER order from this place. Never. Ever. They’re excuse was that it’s a hectic day, if that’s the case then why continue to LIE? 2.5 hours later we receive cold crappy ass food. What a waste!

Came here for late lunch with my fiancée. I have to say that I am not sure why people give negative reviews. The place is very beautiful and clean. We ordered one portion BBQ Pork Fried Rice and a portion of the Orange chicken. We both ate to the point we couldn’t eat anymore and still had left overs for at least two people. It was also very delicious. We also had the wonton soup and it was great as well. The service was really good, we were the only ones at the restaurant and I was very surprised that there was no one else there. I think people should give this place a chance. The prices were reasonable. I think of it as paying for good food, good service and a beautiful atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back. I would encourage anyone looking to have some good Chinese in a clean environment, to come check this place out. It is perfect for groups!

I came here a month ago with my family and we had a pretty good time. My uncle was paying so I really did not pay attention to the prices. =P The restaurant is nice but the seating is uncomfortable. I know it’s a Chinese Restaurant but we are Americans and we need space. Especially eating all of those carbs. The 5 of us were squeezed into a little booth and it was ok at first, but we definitely needed more room once the food came. The food was actually pretty tasty. We ordered a bunch of entrees and ate family style. The walnut shrimp was good, I would skip the Chinese Chicken Salad as it tasted like the packaged Costco brand, all of the steak dishes were pretty good and the gyoza was bomb! I would probably be back.
