Nicely done food. Some delicate subtlety in the flavors. Good wonton soup and hot and sour. Cool creamy spring rolls. yummy veg shrimps. Fun cream cheese wontons. Will come back.

LOVE this place! I was introduced to this place by some friends, they had their birthday party here and I fell in love with the food! Amazing vegan food. I will continue to come here and am so glad I was introduced to it as I never would have discovers it otherwise!

I really love the food here. I can’t believe I’m giving it 4 stars considering the service here can be «lacking» to say the least. But the food is so good, it merits the four stars! This one around we(the gf and I) did the complete dinner again. Crispy appetizers, hot and sour soup for me, won ton soup for her. The we decided to splurge and order three entrees. Well, the orange chicken again, since it’s my favorite. Then we tried the mushroom, bamboo and beef, as well as the house chow mein. The house chow mein comes with vegan beef, chicken, and shrimp. Everything here has always been spectacular. Everything except he wait. Sometimes the later dinner hours can leave you waitin a while to order, generally once you do order the food comes out pretty average speed. But it’s worth the wait, it’s so good. Seriously, as an adamant meat eater, I genuinely enjoy coming here. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on any sort of experience. I’m not left feeling unsatisfied, or craving meat. It hits the spot. Exceptional, as always!

Finally a delicious vegan/vegetarian Chinese place! I’ve lived in the area for years and had knew idea this place existed. Lots of great options — they have your classics like orange chicken, chow mien, beef and broccoli, and some other choices that you won’t find at Panda Express. Service is a little slow because there’s only 1 or 2 servers plus the chef, but it’s so worth it. Plenty of food to take home the next day and it won’t clean out your pocket.

5 stars for food. Negative 5 stars for service. Averages out at 1 star. We ordered two complete meals and one dish. They forgot one of the entrees for the complete meal then argued with me about it, saying we didn’t order it(three people three entrees… come on). We had to track someone down to order. Track someone down for drinks. Track someone down when the next entrée didn’t arrive. Track someone down for refills. And then track someone down for the bill. Possibly the worst service I’ve ever had. So eat here but get take out, because they obviously don’t care about you as a person so it’s best to just get your food and then gtfo. The guy was really nice though. He seemed to be overworked. They need more staff.

I’ve only eaten here once, and I definitely want to come again! I dropped in with my sister and a friend who was Taiwanese so we received excellent service. We had tea delivered immediately after we told our server that I was feeling sick. I then ordered soup, my friends had the lunch special and it was all incredibly delicious for being fully vegetarian. I don’t know how they make it taste like pork, I’m amazed. My only turn-off was the smell of the place, I felt like I was at a hospital, along with the décor and vibe of the place. Lacks some ambiance for dine-in and I have had better wonton soup before, but service was really friendly and price was great so I’ll definitely be back.

Great food! I went there today with my husband who’s been there multiple times. My husband loves the place. I couldn’t believe that all the items on the menu were vegetarian. I had my first might of the«chicken» couldn’t believe it really wasn’t chicken. The service was a little slow, I think they were short in staff but great people and amazing food.

Great atmosphere. Very light and tasty food. If I did not know any better I would have thought that their lamb chow mein has actual lamb in it :) It is actually made from shiitake mushrooms. Keep it up guys!

Great place for vegan cuisine in the San Fernando valley. A friend who does not care for vegan meals was very impressed with the beef and brocolli and said it tasted very much like beef. The chicken drum sticks had the texture of a soft meatball but it was good. Would definitely recommend this place to Vegan dinners.

1 st STAR for food price 2ndSTAR for cleanliness 3rdSTAR for deliciousness 4thSTAR for the old guy seating us and helping us instead of our server Our server was on her cell phone and didn’t bother to come help us. Wasn’t a restaurant phone it was a phone call from a friend. I had to get up and ask her about dessert after waiting 10 minutes for her to tell me they don’t have it. The old guy than came by again to help us with boxes.

I seem to end up here a lot with friends. It’s a decent place and they have patio seating. Usually we come here because we have a large group and the accommodate us all for breakfast. They don’t mind splitting all of our checks and they are always fast and friendly. It’s a good place. Why only 3 stars? It’s an A-Ok place, like the 3 stars suggest but it’s nothing to rave about or a must go to spot. But if you live in the area and want a decent place. This is the one.

As someone who is vegetarian, I am always on the hunt for new vegan/vegetarian places, especially those that are local. Garden Wok is down the street and I can’t believe this is my first time eating here! The restaurant was empty except for my friend and I, but I didn’t mind because I really enjoyed the whole ambiance. Our waitress(Ting?) who was the daughter of the owners was so sweet and delightful. She recommended some dishes to my friend and I, and we settled on the chicken curry and cashew chicken. We ordered the complete dinner, which included appetizers, wonton soup, entrée, and ice cream for only about $ 15 each. I was amazed especially with the chicken drumsticks. As a vegetarian who hates most vegetables(funny how that works) I couldn’t get enough of the drumstick despite it being made of mushroom. The food was so flavorful and satisfying and you can really tell how much care and love the family puts into everything here. I’m already looking forward to my next trip! Don’t miss out on this gem.

Suzie Q’s Fun Facts: Vegan«shrimp» are typically made from a base of yam flour. =≅≅≅≅≅≅≅~ In giving Garden Wok three stars, I am being unusually charitable. On my one and only visit to this restaurant, there was a critical staffing shortage, apparently caused by «the daughter»(as everyone seemed to call her), who typically handled all front of the house duties, being absent during a busy Saturday night dinner service. Only one guy(her dad?) was helping people out front, and only one guy was cooking in the back. Everything seemed normal when I arrived. We were seated relatively promptly. But then: No one came by to take our orders. First five minutes went by… then ten… then fifteen… then twenty. Soon, we noticed that NOONE in the dining room was being serviced. Customers were looking around in confusion. Then, finally, an older gentleman with limited English skills took our orders.(A friend noted that he typically worked in the kitchen, not in the dining room). We thought that maybe the delay had been resolved. But then the real fun began. Because a FULLHOUR went by before we received the first of many items that we ordered(hot and sour soup). By that time, my two friends had to leave the restaurant, as they had to load in at Paladino’s next door(they were the band playing at 9 pm). We told him to wrap up the rest of our food«to go,» and to bring the check with the food. [Unfortunately, this took another 45 minutes — even with me repeatedly getting up and reminding the«server» of our request.] By this point, people were starting to talk to each other from neighboring tables, commiserating about the wait and non-existent service. One party just left money on the table and walked out, utterly unable to get the older gentleman to deliver the bill. As this was going on, several families had arrived and were waiting to be seated, but were totally ignored. I decided to take pity on them, getting up and explaining that the restaurant was critically short-staffed.(Why didn’t the«server» warn people as he was seating them to set their expectations? He would have saved himself a lot of trouble). But to my surprise, none of the new parties left. And no customers already seated in the dining room seemed particularly angry… more like bemused and sympathetic. Clearly, enough goodwill had been built up with the regular customers(who mentioned, from adjacent tables, that the food and service were usually great) that they were willing to let this anomaly slide. So I’ve chosen to adopt the same attitude. Clearly, the restaurant just had a rare«off» night. And the food, once we finally ate it after the show, was delicious. So despite the disastrous staffing shortage, and Garden Wok’s total inability to handle it, I’m willing give Garden Wok another shot the next time I’m in the neighborhood.

This is one of my favorite Vegan restaurants and I’m not even a declared Vegan! I first visited this place after my Vegan coworker recommended it to me and now I come here more than she does! Where should I start? I usually get their complete dinner and get the fried appetizer which comes with egg rolls, wantons and«chicken» drumsticks. I ALWAYS, ALWAYS opt for the sweet and sour soup because let’s face it, it’s so good that I am willing to drive 30+ plus miles just to satisfy my craving. As far as entrees goes, I’ve tried their kung pao chicken, orange chicken, chow mein with«chicken» and other delicious platters I can’t recall because my mouth is watering as I type this… For dessert(which is included if you order the complete dinner) I get the cherry-chocolate ice cream. You can bet your dollars that every portion of your complete dinner will be more delicious than the previous one and it will honestly be hard to decide which part was your favorite. Oh and honest words from a Thai-tea addict, their Thai tea with soy-milk is AMAZINGLYDELICIOUS! On top of it all, their customer service never fails to be anything less than friendly, hospitable and timely.

Okay never mind the 80’s outdated décor, this place has really delicious vegan food! My husband and I opted for the Complete Dinner which I definitely recommend to get more bang for your bucks. For apps we got the chicken drumsticks and I kid you not it had texture like real chicken! Definitely worth a try! For entrees we got the veggie chicken curry and spicy eggplant. Both had generous portions of veggies. I love the creaminess of the curry sauce and the kick from the sautéed eggplant. What I love about their dishes is how flavorful they are! Garden Wok is a mom and pop establishment so you don’t really see a bunch of employees running around. The service was great and they have ample parking spaces in a lot nearby.

A friend of mine stopped in on accident and had never heard of the place before. But we saw that it was vegetarian/vegan and being gastronomically curious we took a booth. The owner came right away to our table and provided us with the usual hot tea and water and we began reading the menu. The menu was luckily written so that a meat eater could understand what I was ordering. Things were described as chicken, beef, lamb & pork. To the vegetarian purist they probably would have been quite disgusted. However, I as an uninitiated individual found such descriptions helpful. I tried the appetizer platter and a salad, both of which were brought in short order. These two items by themselves would have been plenty satisfying for a couple of chicks from the valley who are trying to lose those unwanted pounds from all the burger joints in town. Each item on the platter had its own unique flavor profile. I did try the Mandarin Salad and found the dressing to be a tad bit too sweet for my liking. But what really had me thinking they were lying about serving meat were these little«drumettes» of Lord only knows what they were made from, but they were genuinely chicken-like. I was pretty impressed with the advances they had achieved when it comes to soy! The«egg rolls» and«cream-cheese» stuffed wontons each had very unique flavor profiles. It was quite evident that the chef really worked to develop quality and wonderful flavors. Not realizing the serving size would be generous we had also ordered the«Beef & Broccoli.» Hands down, this was some of the most flavorful«Beef & Broccoli» that I had tasted. Only difference was this wasn’t meat. Because it wasn’t meat it wasn’t the gristly low end beef that you find and some of the more mundane Chinese buffet style restaurants sprinkled around the Valley. The portions were generous and the meal quite affordable. We even had money to split the«carrot» cake for desert ala Vegan/Vegetarian style. The cake was dense but quite moist with a wonderful«crème-like» frosting. The ambiance was gentle and soothing. This is definitely something that belongs on a «friday night» date night. The service is very fast but not pushy or intrusive. Looking forward to my next visit.

I’ve been eating vegetarian off and on for years and have been to many places up and down the state of California. Garden Wok is by far the best food I have ever tasted. It’s a Little gem in a hole in the wall small strip mall. It’s a fully run family restaurant can get very busy at times, you must be very patient to eat here. If you cannot wait order your food to be picked up and take it home. The owner has made all these recipes on her own and all the sauces on her own. This place has a huge following — and for good reason. If you like vegetarian food this is a must for you especially in the valley. What a treat.

Giving them 5 stars for delicious food, nice service, and relaxing ambiance! Brought my non-vegan friends here and they loved it! We had the orange chicken, the appetizer sampler which included delicious ‘chicken’ drumsticks, and veggie chow mein! Very yummy!

Ordered veggie fried rice. Took longer than usual for me to make it there on time. When I got there the chef refused to let me take the rice. She made me a new one to go. It was excellent. The rice lasted two days! Lunch for the next day. Only thing, they don’t sell ginger ale and don’t carry duck sauce.(Us NY’ers love our duck sauce). I’ll be back to This place.
