City Side Lounge

Drinks… seriously they practically give their booze away!!! I don’t know if it’s coincedence or if it’s like 2−4−1, ²⁴⁄₇ there. Every time I have came, and they have a hospitality night if you are in the industry. Drink prices alone should have this bar rated higher than it is.
It’s a tad smokey, but statistically us gays smoke a lot.
It’s clean. There is a small game room. I love love love their outdoor patio.
It’s more of a manly crowd. I’ve wondered how they deter all the lesbians except for a small handful that I’ve brought there, lol. That being said, I’ve never had issues with service.
The DJ was a Pandora station, so that was funny, I guess a downside if you have frequent song requests.
There is a dance floor, I’ve only seen 3 ppl dance there and one of them was me.
The bathrooms are always clean. The bingo was free and winners got booze bottles.
If you are snooty tight ass skip it, you know if that is you. It’s not a LA gay club… it’s South Tampa where our community is disperesed into huge silos and can’t compete.
If you are fun, easy going, love cheap booze and gays, also don’t mind taking an über home… this place is for you.

been going to city side for 20 plus years & has it ever changed. I can put up the certain bar tenders lack of social skills since I go there to socialize with friends. BUT THE SMOKE! SMOKE! SMOKE! is killing me and everybody that goes in there. What is wrong with Jim the owner that allows a few smokers to delegate how he runs his business. Sorry Jim, but you have a problem

The new bartender Kevin is the worst excuse for a bartender. He lacks common bar knowledge and people skills. He needs an attitude adjustment.

Cheap drinks, good service, definitely a locals bar tho. For someone from out of town, I highly suggest just going to Ybor (Gaybor)

I would rate it much higher but this place is so smoky. I would love to bring visitors here but none of my friends smoke, so we will go elsewhere. Can’t come here again. I had heard they might make smokers go outside but apparently not. There are two really cool outdoor areas where people could go smoke. Other than that, it’s a cool place. I’d love to go more since it’s close by.
The DJ they currently have needs to be replaced, or at least learn the crowd. He just plays songs he likes, I guess, and not really songs that will get people out and dancing. Wanna hear the same Katy Perry song over and over? This is the place.

I wish that they would follow up in detailing (staff needs to represent according to the night they are promoting and the staff has to step up and represent another words be attentive and act the part).
Best bartenders that I’ve experienced there are Skeeter (who is a breeder) and Willl (Willma)
Once again I feel if they created something that followed thru with what they were promoting it would be more than amazing.
Three bars where they have the opportunity to be more than a singular thang, nice staff, great drinks (they do liquor that’s not everywhere and makes it special. Educate the crowd be SPIRITED

Great little spot to hit, is enjoyable and is worth becoming a regular IF YOU ARE CONTENT WITH BEING IN THE NORM
The bar needs to Step Up and they will RULE!!! To all you old Queens that remember El Goya (not the can of beans) it’s here, reinvented and revived!!!

In NYC where there could be a blizzard happening and people who smoke would be out there smoking.

Relaxing bar. Good atmosphere and good drinks. Plus buy one get ones as well. And if your a little buzzed when leaving it’s conveniently right next to an IHOP.

Used to have these fantastic seasonal arrangements to «theme» the bar… but now they are from WalMart or Hobby Lobby. Still love CitySide… but something has changed. Put the CLASS back!

Relaxed atmosphere. Welcoming. Nice people. The owner is very dedicated to his business and I had a nice time talking to him. The drag show was great. I love that they have a patio area in the back and a closed room for karaōke. The dance floor is awfully small, but the lasers are cool. I will totally come back.

I have been here a few times and usually it’s because someone I was with wanted to go. Went last night for a drink and the place was dead and the bartender was super slooooooooow. I wouldn’t pick this place to hang out all night.

Friendly little gay bar. Tends to be older rather than young but on weekends it’s a good mix. Not much attitude and strong drinks!

If you’re looking for a modest, yet cozy gay bar to hang out at, City Side is your place! I’ll break it down like this:
The staff
All of the staff members that work at City Side are friendly, laid-​back, responsive, and fun. They make a fairly strong drink (if you’re nice), and they’re quick to serve. They’ll almost always greet you with a smile.
The layout
There’s a small (very small) dance floor with a large projector screen and a DJ booth to your left as you walk in the door. There’s the main bar directly (almost) ahead, and to your right a ways is the back bar with a pool table, a bowling game, big screen television, and a couple of dart boards. Out the back door leads to the patio (with bar) which is great for those mild, Tampa nights.
The drinks
The drinks are great! They typically have specials going each night of the week, and the prices aren’t bad normally anyway. The staff will set you up with a nice drink so long as you’re nice to them (read: don’t be cheap with the tips!), and you’ll enjoy your time there.
The atmosphere
Depending on the day, the crowd is mostly middle-​aged, but everyone’s pretty friendly and open. There is almost always a music video playing on the many televisions located throughout and on the big screen located on the dance floor. On Monday nights they host a pool tournament for a little extra entertainment.
Parking
Parking is rather limited, but City Side offers complimentary valet service which is the perfect solution.
Overall, City Side is a great little place to have a drink and unwind. If you’re looking for a place that isn’t crawling with twinks or too overpopulated with the AARP crowd, this is a nice compromise.
