Hyde Park Cafe

Fun spot. Had a great time with my friends. We bought a bottle and enjoyed ourselves with our friend from out of town. They have multiple djs and multiple bars. Making this a regular spot to frequent.

Came to HPC for happy hour and dead honest, you can’t go wrong. The vibe, the people, the drinks. Even though some people might have the misconception that this is a college scene, it’s a pretty open. yet crazy environment! If you’re coming for the all you can drink 8−10PM happy hour, I would suggest coming early because the line does get pretty long.
The staff were pretty nice, well as nice as an all you can drink bartenders can be. With everyone shoving and pushing themselves to the bars, I really do commend them for being so nice and friendly. Even though they were swamped with people, they still took the time to decently make us all drinks.
Now about the drinks, they tasted somewhat watered down. Not sure if it was just me, but it took us quite a few drinks to reach that tipsy stage. Other than that, they give you a pretty basic selection of drinks too choose from so you have some freedom.
Overall, not a bad experience.
PS. One of the managers said the free shot deal for checking in is a scam and they never posted it? I guess don’t bother with that one.

I saw Seth Troxler here a couple years back. Seth actually graduated high school with me in Michigan back in 2004 before rising to international DJ success a couple years later. This was a fun venue, especially for Seth’s music. The lasers are really great and the dark room makes it really easy to get your groove on. The layout here is nice because you can leave the more crowded dark room where the headliner is playing and go outside on a nice patio. The drinks were good and I had a really really fun time, despite some of the hot heads in our group having some issues with the bouncer, there was no actual violence, just angry people. It was at the end of a really good night and since we calmed everyone down, all is well that ends well.

Drinks are super awesome and the DJs are sick! The club’s also got three venues inside with different vibes.

It’s close to the soho area so you know what to expect. I’ve only been on Friday nights and it’s unbelievably packed. It has a decent setup but it’s always so packed you can’t really take advantage. Ohh and the drinks, well I don’t know cause the line is so long I’ve never got a chance to try them. I always come here buzzed to handle that problem. Definitely a bar aimed at your younger crowd

When its thumpin its cool, but it has off nights too. At least they have friendly bathroom staff and a great vibe overall. Wish they wouldn’t charge admission though… its not NY or LA…

What a shame this place was empty. Great bars with a large variety, cozy wooden venue filled with seats everywhere and fantastic music in three separate areas. They sell hookahs and have open bar for $ 10 from 9 – 11:00pm Fridays and saturfays. Negative part about this bar was that it was empty and the crowd was odd. There was a mix of age groups and dress code, from shorts and flats to dresses and heels. However, it was a good experience, wish there would’ve been more people.

We had a very fun night here on a Saturday night. New to Tampa and arrived at 9:30 not knowing what to expect. For $ 10 each it was open bar till 11 pm. Things were pretty quiet until 11:30, but that is a perfect time to come if you want to enjoy a chill drink before things get loud. There is a separate hip hop dance room and a techno dance room. We stayed in the hip hop room and started out as the only people on the dance floor and by 1 am when we left, the place was packed. Clean bathrooms and a very helpful bartender Tony.

First of all: 18 and over club… Hyde park café advertised «an oasis devoted to house» and played the worst and most influenced with other music house out there. The dj just mixed Latin songs with a house beat or trance songs with a house beat in the background. If you truly love house, this place is not for you. Stay far away. Drinks are expensive as expected in a club.
Restrooms: one stall only for men, and 2 for women. You know what that means…

I went here for industry night on Tuesday and it was sooo much fun! It didn’t get very crowded because it was a Tuesday, but the drinks are SUPER cheap and the DJ’s were good. I agree with Brian M. it has something for everyone. There’s an EDM room, a nice outdoor space where you can actually have conversations with people without the loud music. There’s also a house room. Feeling it!

This place has 3 separate bar/​dance areas. The open air court yard is nice but my favorite thing about the place is the house music nights on Tuesday and Saturday.
Tuesday nights with Jask and local guest DJ’s is always a blast. The people and energy of the dance floor is very welcoming. Jask plays a wide range of dance music (sexy house music), sampling in tracks from the 70’s to current day. Super technical DJ. The talented local group of DJ’s that come and play with Jask are the best Tampa has to offer! They all throw down whether they play at the beginning or end of the night.
All the staff is really friendly. Especially a bartender named Kari. She’s super fast and always remembers people and what they are drinking.
Saturday nights Brian Busto and his group of serious soul DJ’s kill it. Brian brings in great guest DJs from all around the world.
The thing that my wife and I like most about these nights is the mature crowd. You won’t find young kids puking in the corner of the club.

I have had the opportunity to play at Hyde Park Café a couple of times and have always had a great experience and a wonderful time. My good friend Jask has always been the utmost professional. I look forward to coming back! :)

This is one of the night life staples of Tampa Bay. The staff is phenomenal and the music is the best in town. It’s one of the few places where you can go out on a Tuesday and have a great time with awesome people. Every time I go to this place I feel like I’m at home. Please visit Hyde Park Café and you won’t be disappointed.

If you like what the DJ plays, because it’s his favorite music… You’re good here! But in my experience, when no one is dancing and he continues to ignore music requests because he likes his own taste, I would go somewhere else!
It’s a shame, because potentially this could be a great place and 10 years ago it was hoppin… listening to your audience will get you far!

This club has something for everyone! There is an open air café courtyard for those looking for a chill atmosphere, velociti room for those seeking house music, and Wally & Bernie’s room for those seeking rap and hip hop. They have a great $ 10 open bar happy hour on Friday’s and Saturday’s. They are also open on Tuesday nights. This place can get really packed on Friday’s but there are 4 bars so getting drinks does not take too long. The only negative is that on Friday’s they tend to hold the line and it can take 20min or so just to get in so arrive early at 8 if you can! The dress code is upscale meaning pants and dress shoes are required for men & no flip flops, sneakers, shorts, or t-​shirts, etc. So if you are thinking about coming here after macdintons which has a more relaxed dress code you should dress up. This place only opens at 8pm and is not open during the day. They used to offer pizza but they don’t anymore. The crowd seems to be 20−30s. There is a lot with free parking located on Rome and they just redrew the street so that there is street parking right on Platt. This place is located across from the Hyde out and 3 blocks from the rest of the Howard strip of bars so there’s a lot of after party options available after this place.

Best club for deep house music. Went here for a friends’ birthday and we stayed until it closed. Great atmosphere and the music just kept us dancing all night long. I only wish they played deep house more often — you have to check online and on Facebook when they have special deep house djs spinning.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT.
This establishment has the worst security team I have ever seen. The service was a joke at best, drinks were poorly made with almost no alcohol, as well as a rude service team.
The atmosphere here SUCKS… I will never return.
Take your money and go to macdintons or the Lodge, stay away from this hell hole !

Terrible. I used to go here every once in a while with my friends but then I just had to stop. The drinks are worse than bottom shelf and always leave me with a terrible headache. The line is unnecessary for such a small place off of Howard — I think that most people there feel that they are in a nightclub in a big city.
I’m sure it’s good if you’re looking for a place to drink really cheap drinks and get bumped into by high school and college kids.

OK first off, for the most part the staff are excellent and so friendly and I have to give them great props for that. I can’t complain about the drinks. I’ve gotten a few free shots here from bartenders and one time someone who said he was the owner or manager or something (maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t who knows)… and if I’m feeling daring I’ll redeem my free Unilocal check-​in offer (but that’s kind of awkward so I’ve only done it once). Anyways, goodbye paycheck, I always lose you at the bar here, but the free shots and fun times make up for it I suppose.
The venue is interesting and has something for everyone: one part dimly lit strip club-​esque lounge where you can sit and drink from bottles (my favorite section), one part open-​air outdoorsy area with lots of plants, lights and people smoking hookah, and the final part a large wrap around bar and small dance floor where things get crazy. There are a lot of bars scattered throughout… at least four or five. Anyways, 93.3 FLZ broadcasts from here pretty often, so if you like vocal trance and watching people make out, then this is your scene. If not, you have to just live in the moment here and not think too hard about it. Whenever I do, I tend to wonder «WTF I am doing here! I’m not cool/attractive/drunk/(fill in the blank) enough.» Oh well…
They offer valet parking but I’ve never used it. There are parking spots around the surrounding neighborhoods if you’re lucky, plus tons of cabs. They also sell pizzas at the end of the night, never tried that either, but it’s a nice concept. Overall, HPC is a fun place to go late nights on the weekend if you’re looking for a fun dance club and some crazy people-​watching.

Since 1995, I’ve always had a good time at HPC. Whether I am a guest DJ or simply basking in the House music vibe with cigar in hand, HPC always satisfies. I normally go on Tuesday night to hear Jask spin or on Fridays to hear Busto spin. They both provide the new and classic House jams. It’s the only place in town to hear this stuff! Moreover, the music is common ground for me and my chica. I’m primarily old school Hip-​Hop and she’s Death Metal, but we both have a strong fondness for Nu-​Disco, House and Electronica.
