Tumo’s escapes being your typical off The Hill Italian eatery… if you know what to order. They have some great pasta dishes you won’t find other places. My favorite of these is their Cajun chicken pasta(their Cajun seafood dish is also extremely delicious). Their dessert menu either gives away their lack of true Italian heritage or displays their love for MU with a «terramizzou» listing. That gets a laugh out of us every time we’re in there. While they have carafes of cheap and decent wine, their alcohol claim to fame is their ice cold bottles of beer. I have never had such cold beer in this entire city, which is what makes Tumo’s a great place to catch a ballgame with a small group – or alone, because the bartenders always know how to make you feel like one of the regulars.

Tumo’s is a cozy little St. Louis Hills neighborhood Italian eatery located on the southern cusp of Hampton Ave. It’s small and has, a small deck, a combination of tables(with vinyl cloths), booths, and a bar that’s almost as big as the restaurant area. Prices are reasonable and while it can get smoky because of the bar, it is popular with the locals. The menu is standard St. Louis Italian including iceberg lettuce salads with provel cheese, toasted ravioli, a variety of other appetizers, salads, Italian dishes, pasta(served with salad and Italian bread) and daily specials. If Tumo is in the house, he will most definitely stop by your table to say hello. I wouldn’t particularly drive across town to dine here, but it is nice casual eatery to have close to home.

Excellent neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food is always well prepared and the portion size gives you plenty to eat. My only complaint would be that the restaurant is kind of small, and the nonsmoking section is even smaller.
