Well, I have decided that this is my favorite pizza place in the city. The pizza and calzones are delicious. We also love the free Parmesan garlic bread that comes before dinner. But before I get to the food, let me mention that the service is always prompt, courteous, and friendly. They always make sure you have been helped after you have been there a few seconds. Also I like their selection of drinks. I have gotten the sangria but since I am there for pizza, I usually go for the beer and they always have a good local selection(like Urban Chestnut or Shlafly or O’Fallon). So now to the food, I will admit I have only tried like four of the items. And two of them are what we have had the last three times. The Animal Pizza is a meat lovers pizza that is amazing. And I love the Spinach Calzone — it is like a cheese lovers paradise. It can get crowded in the summer so be prepared. We will be back soon.

This is not about the food. The pastas are great, portions are huge, garlic knots rock… The problem is; WHEREAREALLMYLEFTOVERS?! I got my leftovers boxed to go this evening(hence the huge portion) and there was about half of what I actually had left. This is not the first time that’s happened. I was really looking forward to having lunch for the next few days. Booo Onesto’s. Such a shame because the place is otherwise great.

Quality ingredients and food, nice ambiance(except sometimes outdoor seating can suffer from louder traffic going by on Macklind). Have been here many times, but we usually reserve it for a night when we’re prepared to get set back at least $ 40 for 2(excluding drinks). The garlic knots, as noted in other reviews, are great, but can sometimes be a little slow on getting more(I realize this is because they make them fresh, but sometimes it feels like your table is forgotten about if you sit in the side patio section). I like the house salad a lot, and that’s usually what I get as my entrée. Most other things I just don’t like enough to justify spending $ 20 or so on to order. So sometimes eating here is a little boring for me, but I at least know I can always count on it to be a nice upscale-casual type of place. Really, it is a good, consistently solid place with rotating seasonal options for appetizers or specials. You just have to be prepared for the prices to reflect this attention to quality.

One of the best kept secret places to eat in St. Louis. My wife and I have eaten there multiple times. The food is great, the service outstanding and is relatively inexpensive. Would recommend it as a place you must try.

Used to be our favorite pizza place but since Keith(not 100% on name) left it hasn’t been the same. Very disappointed and WAY overpriced for what you get.

Between anything to do with their bread(garlic knots, cheese bread, etc) and anything coveted in their meat sauce my full experience here,(now three times) has been superb and I will continue to go back.

Service is impeccable. Food is tasty enough, though more expensive than it’s worth. The Caesar salad was pitifully small for an $ 8 salad. The mozzarella impanata was tasty but it was really just fried mozzarella and only 3 triangles for $ 7. I didn’t particularly care for the pomodoro red sauce. You can as good as pizza for less money a few blocks away at JJ Twigs.

Pretty stinkin good pizza. You can custom order any pizza or get one of their in house pizzas with pre fixed ingredients. They have a main dining area and a small bar area. We chose to sit at the high top in the bar and were rewarded by seeing the pizza boy tossing the dough in the air and making our pizza before our eyes. Fresh as it can get! Be warned though if you order a large pie, it is bigger than a wheel in an SUV rap video.
Next time I have a hankering for one of their calzones or Strombolis. I also was really pleased with their wine by the glass selection. This definitely had the feel of more of a boutique type pizza parlor where they put the pizza first. A charming, cozy, romantic spot. I’ll be back Onesto, but next time I’m coming in with elastic waist pants.

Cute little place. Very nice. Excellent service. Mice Friday menu options. The cute little dinner knots/rolls are very good. They are known for their sangria. You must try it. Quiet atmosphere.

Onesto’s is one of our favorite restaurants. I like their variety of meals. Most restaurants we frequent there’s one or two items we get all the time. At Onesto’s they have new specials every week and we look forward to checking them out. Onesto’s is a keeper.

Ridiculously good food and service, and a short wait on a Saturday night. I’d been here a while back for pizza, but this time we chose other items. There was also a decent list of nightly specials. Let’s start with the little things. The complimentary garlic knots are perfection. The side salad that came with my meal, with the house special dressing was fantastic. I highly recommend the rustic ziti($ 16) with chicken, shrimp, and a light sausage-infused cream sauce. Every bite was loaded with flavor. The chicken and shrimp were perfectly blackened. Great portion size. Seriously good, would definitely order again. One nightly special was a «veggie stack», vegetables like zucchini, mushroom, etc topped with mozzarella cheese on a bed of some special risotto($ 15). This was also fantastic and beautifully plated. Did I mention they brought out more garlic knots? Our server did a great job and split our party’s checks without hassle. I also loved the 70s funk/soul music playing that night… probably just a Pandora station but it added a great vibe to the place. This place is a true gem.

Onesto is great. It’s on a super quiet corner in Princeton Heights. The pizza is delicious, they have a great wine list and Sangria, the appetizers are great, etc. We’ve had wonderful service in the Restaurant with Ashley, and great service with Dan at the bar(which has a great local draft beer selection). All around a great place.

I love the atmosphere at this restaurant. The servers are knowledgeable and the food is delicious. Sometimes the garlic balls are hard and dry, but it’s not a problem as the rest of the food is always fresh and the portions are substantial. I am a frequent visitor and suggest you give it a try.

I have found a new place I actually like! The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff wonderful, the food amazing. We started with the free garlic knots, very tasty. I had the caprese salad and the sausage and pepperoni Stromboli. The tomatoes were really fresh and the balsamic was sweet. Great combination. The Sausage in the Stromboli was sweet Italian and oh so tasty. My partner in crime had the Rustic Ziti. The portion was huge! She said she enjoyed it. It was filled with shrimp, chicken and sausage. The service was friendly and helpful. We will most certainly be back.

Had lunch here today for the first time. The place is small and very nice. We decided to try the pizza. I also had a wonderful salad with their house dressing, which was a garlic pesto, nice and fresh. The BF had a Caesar salad which he said was great, also. I asked about the garlic knots they are known for, and was told they don’t have them on Sunday but she would see if they could throw some in for us. Nice gesture and really appreciated since they really hit the spot. The pizza’s came out and it was a bit of a disappointment. It looked good but the taste really wasn’t there, the sauce and the dough were lacking. My BF had spaghetti and meatball and loved it. All and all, I will definitely try Onesto again.

Great dining experience with some girl friends Friday night. Had a 7 pm reservation and was seated promptly. Attentive service and she suggested one of the appetizer specials of the night(garlic knots), which were tasty. Split a bottle of wine over dinner, the montepulciano de abruzzi(sp?) at the top of the red menu was delicious and reasonably priced at $ 26. At a friend’s suggestion we ordered the arancini appetizer(risotto ball breaded and fried). It was delicious and the sauce with it was nice. I appreciated the peas in the ball that were crisp instead of mushy. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and required to go boxes due to the portion sizes. Of particular note were the Calzones that would easily feed 2 for a little over $ 10. I had the eggplant parmigiana and it was delicious as well. I easily took a third of it home. The 5 of us split 2 desserts, tiramisu and their dessert of the day(bourbon cherry soaked peaches with vanilla gelato). Opposite ends of the spectrum but both delicious and devoured. The portion of tiramisu was ridiculously large, we weren’t sure if that was normal size or if they made it bigger knowing they were delivering it to be shared amongst us. All in all a great experience and I’d come back.

Father’s Day before dinner. We we’re seated in the back room. The A/C wasn’t working and the music didn’t match the restaurant. We had drinks and appetizer, very good. The food came out very quickly. My sons order was wrong and by the time he received his meal we had finished eating and he got it to go. I was not pleased with the service and lack of an apology for the mistake.

This restaurant is by far the kindest establishment I’ve yet to encounter in St. Louis! We ordered a delicious strawberry and bacon pizza, and it can out hot and delicious with garlic knots, complimentary! When we noticed our dog had a tick, literally half the working establishment came out to help us remove it, tweezers, lighter, and a big pan for the dog to drink. I’ve never experienced such kindness and generosity, and I am so grateful we came here. Thanks for a fantastic meal and 200% best service in the city!

Found a pleasant neighborhood restaurant in our visit to Onesto. We ate at 5 pm on a cold & drizzly Sunday, so it was still pretty empty when we arrived. However, it seemed to be filling up nicely by the time we left. Service was very good. Drinks and appetizer arrived quickly, with other courses appropriately spaced. The main dishes, pizza and calzone, took a little bit of time but not excessive — and our waiter kept us informed of their status(e.g. «It’s on the top shelf in the oven, so it should only be a couple minutes now.»). Our waiter was pleasant and made light small talk, and all the staff seemed to continually circle the dining room to clear plates and fill drinks. When we took home some leftover pizza and calzone, the waiter took the plates away and brought back the ‘to go’ containers with the leftovers in them. Definitely better than places that just give you a container, or even those that do the transfer for you but at the tableside. As for the food, no complaints, and actually pretty good. Rather than brining you a loaf of bread, they bring out a bunch of golf ball size bread bites. They were warm and buttered & parmesaned. A little like pretzel bites on the outside, but dense Italian bread on the inside. Different, but good. We had been told to try the arancini rice ball appetizer, which we did. A pleasant surprise. It was about the size of a baseball, maybe a little larger, with the menu description pretty much spot on: A mixture of Italian rice, parmesan cheese & parsley stuffed with tomato sauce, ground beef & peas then breaded, fried & served over Bolognese sauce. But really, what you notice is this big olé ball of dark, deep fried goodness coming to your table and surrounded by a pool of red sauce. I like fried breading, and this was thick enough to hold everything together so that you didn’t feel like it was just a big ball of rice and cheesy peas. Speaking of which, there was only a light amount of peas, which in my book was a good thing. There also was plenty of sauce, so that each bite could be dipped in it for the full flavor effect. The other half and I both ordered house salads. Again, quite good. A typical mix of greens, toppings and house dressing. A place better be able to serve a decent salad. My entrée was calzone, with Italian sausage added to the ricotta/parmesan/mozzarella filling. I especially liked the buttery pizza shell… mmmmm. Cheese filling was also good and savory. Italian sausage was decent, but I really prefer a spicier sausage. They should consider adding a ‘spicy Italian sausage’ option if they are going to stay with a mild one. The wife’s entrée was a small cheese pizza with onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. The crust was the same as on my calzone, which I already said I liked a lot. It has a somewhat chewy texture that adds to the flavor. I also think the marinara sauce has a nice rich flavor, which translated well on the pizza. And the cheese & veggies just made it a good overall choice. I really don’t understand another reviewer’s comment that their carryout pizza had zero flavor. Ours was very satisfying. Onesto Pizza & Trattoria pushes the organic and locally sourced efforts they make, which I applaud. At the same time, this is not a trendy place, but rather what I like to call a new«old school» Italian restaurant. A good meal and good atmosphere for us during our dinner.

I tried this establishment because I was craving spaghetti and many italian resturaunts are closed on Monday. But now I am eager to return! Offering both patio and inside dining the atmosphere draws mostly local families. The service was friendly and made me feel welcome right away. I started with a house salad of extremely fresh greens and a light tasty house dressing. Hot bread balls came which were good(but not great.). The spaghetti was very good with perhaps the best meatballs I have ever had. The portions were huge and I doubt anyone could eat the whole bowl. Overall while this isn’t inexpensive it is worth it and the care and quality shows.
