Had nachos as an app-chips were mediocre and smothered in cheap cheese sauce and a black bean sauce of some sort, neither flavorful. Piled on top were what could pass for imitation peppers and tomatoes. Dinner– had the chicken and waffles. The«chicken» portion was compromised of quite possibly the cheapest mushrooms and pearl onions in some sort of wack Asian sauce, paired with waffles not so good. The waffles were good after I smothered then in butter. Of all the vegan/vegetarian places I’ve been to this is the worst.

Food was good, from a well dressed salad to a tasty and carefully assembled grilled sandwich to a large, albeit a bit too heavy desert. The location is nice, although the restaurant needs to update apple maps/google maps, because they still list the old address, about a half block away. The only drawback was the service. 2⁄3 of the courses were not served at the same time for me and my guest, beverages were not refilled, and we waited until desert to have water brought to the table. These problems could have been unique to our wait staff, but if the service was polished up a bit, it would be a 4 star place to dine.

Today was my first experience at the new Blue Sage location, which is within a ¼ mile of the old spot, on the opposite side of 2nd Street Pike. The menu remains exciting, offering tastes inspired by many cuisines, all featuring the freshest ingredients. To start, my luncheon companion and I split an order of Tostones – wonderfully crisp wafers of mashed plantain served with a creamy guacamole(the menu says«avocado relish»). She ordered the Falafel; I went with Pan Bagna. Both were excellent and highly recommended. A few thoughts: today was a frigid day and I wish we had asked to be seated near the fireplace, rather then in the larger main dining room, which was chilly and got a bit loud as it filled. On a more positive note, one of the joys of Blue Sage remains its distinctly non-threatening menu. If you are not a vegetarian, you will not be intimidated by a slew of weird faux-meat dishes, in other words. Instead, you will find a wide variety of extremely tasty dishes very clearly described on the menu. And there’s another huge plus: many of the dishes can be ordered dairy free. This is a very kind gesture for those of us who are lactose intolerant. There are even lactose-free desserts, a nearly impossible to find treat!

LOVE this place. They have just moved across the street to a larger place. Haven’t been to the new location yet but I can only assume it’s just as good. Look forward to visiting the new location.

Absolute Deliciousness — Did not miss eating meat(I’m not a vegetarian but do love my vegetables)! I went to blue sage for lunch on 1⁄30 for the first time and I want to go back again today! Our waitress was very pleasant and service oriented — great experience from beginning to the end of the meal. We started with the Tostones. Great avocado relish to smother on the plantains. Be careful — they are filling! Then I had the Blue LT at the recommendation of our waitress… and it was excellent for a blue cheese lover like me. I also got the coffee which was great. The coffee is so smooth — had 2 cups of it! Where have I been all these years — wish I would have discovered this place earlier :-)

Delicious! Great service, the tacos were yummy and messy … We were given extra napkins beforehand. Mike had a panini that was fresh and perfectly toasted.

Excellent vegetarian restaurant. The new location(just across the street from the old location) is much larger. The restaurant is beautiful and quiet. I went for lunch and the bleu salad was wonderful and service was great. We made a reservation for lunch on a Thursday and am glad that we did as the place was full. Looking forward to going back for dinner. Just read on Unilocal that they make a Bloody Mary mix– didn’t know about that. Something to look into for next time!

Blue Sage, an old favorite, is even better in its new location(½ block south of original site). It has three times the space, half the noise level, and is a hundred times more attractive. Best of all, the food remains creative and amazing.

Very strong vegetarian menu. Food had a lot of elements: flavor, presentation, composition, fairly priced… Will return.

My bf and I have been here several times, its our new go-to for date night. We always get the blue corn asparagus tacos and their deconstructed blueberry pie ala mode is the best dessert. Prices are decent. Big plus that its BYOB! Seating can be a little snug, but I see their moving across the street in January. Hope its still byob when they move.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 5 years because the experience has been great. Unfortunately, when I was there over the weekend for brunch with a party of 8, my experience would probably be my last. We had a very rude server. He was inflexible and arrogant. We are mostly all vegetarian with one being gluten-free, I purposely selected Blue Sage since I felt their menu and selection really worked for us. The person in our party that has severe reactions to dairy requested no hollandaise sauce on her eggs benedict and the response was«So, you want dry eggs?». He would also not allow ketchup with an entrée because he felt it would«not be good», in his words. He did not actually focus on what we wanted as guests of the restaurant, he seemed more interested in voicing his own opinions. As for the food, it was good, albeit too much, as you HAVE to order and 2 course prix fix meals. It’s so much food and most of the first courses could be dessert as they included caramel toppings and loads of sugar.

Have wanted to come here for a while now and finally made it there today thanks to a good friend/coworker. What can I say — it was delicious. She and I both had the El Fino wrap. It had pear, carmelized onions, roasted nuts of some sort, spinach, blue cheese. Maybe something else but it was fantastic. Also came with a huge side salad that was just as tasty. We came during the lunch rush and it was pretty busy but we did get a table right away. What I found funny was all the customers in there were female! Not one male to be seen. Anyway, I highly recommend this place and do not let the word«vegetarian» scare you.

Delicious butternut squash soup! Actually best I ever ate! And huge portion, big enough to share. The polenta salad was also superb!

Being a clean eater that strays away from meat and gluten makes it a little difficult to go out to eat. Finding someone to dine with at a vegetarian restaurant can be difficult so I often find myself saying«I’ll just get a salad» when going out to eat with friends. At Blue Sage there were many options for me and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Before I get to the food I would first like to compliment our server, Charlee. She was very kind and well educated on the menu. This is important because I can’t eat gluten and get very nervous when dining at a restaurant for the first time. She made my first experience at Blue Sage fantastic! For starters, she offered a delicious UNSWEETENED raspberry iced tea, which is almost impossible to find! We also got an appetizer, the Tacos Verduras. The amount of texture and flavor piled high on a homemade blue corn taco was more than satisfying. I split this with a friend but was tempted to put in another order as my meal. Instead of doing that I went for the miso pumpkin soup. The miso broth was jam packed with flavor and even developed a slight creamy texture. The soup was hearty and had medium, bite sized chunks of cauliflower and pumpkin which was accompanied but the punch of flavor possessed by scallions. I was In love. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the service, flavor, portions and prices. I am so excited to go back to Blue Sage and try more of their menu!

After moving from LA to Philly and not having great vegetarian options, I think I’ve finally found a spot that can be my little LA out here(thanks to my friends who introduced me to this place and brought me here). It’s quite easy to miss this restaurant with its unassuming storefront and shared stores on the same strip mall so keep your eyes peeled when you drive here but once you go inside, you’re in a cozy yet exciting place. The restaurant was buzzing with conversation, people laughing, and everyone from the waitresses to the patrons were having an all around good time there. Seating is close but you won’t have to whisper to keep your conversations private because everyone there seemed engaged in the conversations they were having with their friends and family. There’s not a whole lot of space so once you get seated, get comfy. There are plenty of items to choose from on the menu from sandwiches to soups to wraps to salads(duh) and you can’t go wrong with what you pick. The dishes here are served with tons of flavor and the portions aren’t shabby either. The hummus and falafel appetizer was tasty and creamy along with crunchy and grainy, a perfect combo. I had one of their sandwiches and man, it was absolutely delicious. Not only was it juicy and full of flavor but I totally forgot that there was no meat in it at all. The salad along with the dressing it came with was delicious also. The greens tasted fresh and crisp(none of that iceberg lettuce crap) and they weren’t overpowered by the dressing. The only thing I felt like I missed from their menu was a choice of vegetarian/vegan burger. I love eating burgers and am really picky about the burgers I eat so finding a good vegetarian burger is extra difficult to find(if you’re out from LA/Socal, think Native Foods and Healthy Junk). So for a vegetarian burger choice, I think I’d still stick with Whole Foods because they can make a pretty mean vegetarian burger(if it’s one of the newer locations with a burger option at their food prepping station). The service was friendly, helpful, and great if not a tad slow getting to you but that was because this place was packed the whole time. I’ll definitely be frequenting this place while I’m still out here. This place is BYOB(bring your own beer) just as a heads up, also, per suggestion, you should be fine with walk-in during lunch but make sure to make reservations for dinner. Parking: Small shared lot Price: $ 12+ Wait: 15 – 20 mins

This was my first vegetarian dining experience. They offer gluten and dairy free for those who need it but that wasn’t required by anyone at our table. It’s also a BYOB. It’s a smaller place with cute décor. I love the ½ shutters on the windows. We made a reservation and I would do the same when I go back. I had the gazpacho as an appetizer. It was delicious but the portion was too large for an appetizer. This was a board special and I didn’t see the bill so I don’t know the cost. The waitress was kind enough to give me some my extra to go. For my entrée I had a full size portion of the blue corn tacos. These these tasted like mini quesadillas to me. You can call them whatever you want, I call them FANTASTIC! The appetizer portion came with 2 and the dinner portion came with 4. There was a delicious black bean salad with cilantro and tomatoes that tasted so fresh! I could have had a plate of the beans on its own. The menu said it cAme with greens but it really was a small salad. See photos. I included she photos of menu items from other people in our party. The food was so colorful and everything tasted crispy, smelled fragrant. The service was great. We were party of 8. I never felt like I needed anything. The waitress knew the menu well and was able to explain entrees that were new to most of my group! Vegetarian or not? This place is a must! As we left I saw they have a great brunch $ 28 pre-fixe menu! I will definitely be back!

Came to this gem for lunch which is over an hour away from our house and it was totally worth the drive. Blue sage is so unique above most vegetarian places I have tried. We had the taco appetizers, blue corn asparagus entrée, queso quesadilla entrée and hazelnut basket dessert. Wow! There is such a rich variety of flavors that vegetarians and non vegetarians, like me, will never forget.

Now that being a vegetarian is finally becoming a trend, it’s so nice to find more and more restaurants like this. Blue sage definitely tops my list of good vegetarian restaurants. We had a 7 o’clock reservation, and the place was packed but they were able to seat us right away. People were waiting for quite some time if they didn’t have a reservation. The place is cozy and tight. The waitress was amazing. Drinks always full, table clean, friendly, and overall just fantastic. The food was good and presented well! The nachos are definitely a must order item, they were the best dish. The portion sizes are biggg. We ended up taking a lot of goodie bags because we didn’t think this would be very filling. Wish they would focus a little more on favor though. I felt some dishes were bland and dry, like the falafel. I would definitely recommend making a reservation and checking this place out!

Everything is always great! I have been here many many times and for some reason always forgot to leave a review. The place is tiny. BYOB. You pretty much always need a reservations as its usually packed. Not for lunch. Pretty good chance of getting a table for lunch. The food is delish! Initially hubs wasn’t thrilled with going vegetarian, but I assured him he wouldn’t miss meat. He didn’t. The flavor combination is terrific. They use a variety of veggies, mushrooms, grains and lots of yummy cheeses. Shoe string fries are always a go as well as all of the desserts are usually extremely yummy. They change their menu all the time to add more exciting dishes on. I love this place and will always come back to it.
