HUGE place, bigger than it looks from the outside. We got here at 2pm, no wait, maybe 3 other tables were occupied. Big menu. Which can be good or bad. Many unique twists on classics. My wife got the Classic Rueben and it came with fries. She loved the sandwich and fries and you get a lot of fries. She also got a diet soda. I’m normally an omelette guy, but I’m simple, cheese or ham n cheese for me. While I’m sure I could have asked for a cheese omelette, their menu has 8 – 10 special omelettes, and at $ 11 for a two egg omelette, I decided to try their house special, Red Flannel Hash Skillet. It has a house made hash, eggs and hollandaise sauce with a side of toast. Being called a ‘skillet’, I’m expecting it’s made in a skillet. Not the case, it’s just served on a ceramic skillet-shaped plate. Right off the bat, I didn’t like the look. Way to much hollandaise sauce. It’s to add flavor, not BE the flavor. I would say there was ¼−1/3 cup of it on top. The eggs were perfectly cooked(scrambled). The hash. No. No, no, no. Never heard of Red Flannel Hash and hope I never hear of it again. Too much salt, but had an odd flavor I can’t pinpoint. I got a $ 4 flavored coffee to drink. Came in a fancy glass, but seemed a pricey. Our server was ok and the staff over all didn’t seem too happy to be working. We won’t be back

Unfortunately, this is yet another Cape Cod restaurant that is rundown, dreary, and in need of a major overall. The food is terrible!!! The service needs improvement. The décor is old and worn!!! Cross the Hearth N Kettle off your list. Really!

Not anything special, but decent reliable chain food. Fast, friendly service. We have never had to wait for a table. Portions are HUGE. Good place to bring the kids. If you aren’t a regular in Cape Cod, I would suggest trying an independent restaurant, but Hearth n’ Kettle is a great back-up plan.

Can you say this place has seen better days! My wife and I had lunch here this afternoon we both ordered the classic Reuben just an hour later we were both sick — won, t go into the details — what I find very disheartening is lack of care from the managers responce to my call — I wasn’t calling to complain just wanted them to know what happened — beware of the their Reuben

Solid breakfast spot. Very cozy inside with wood panneling and booth throughout. I had the Florentine skillet which was delicious! Hubby had Eggs Benedict and was very good as well. Definitely would come back again!

While attempting to get a nice dinner in the area most of the restaurants were packed with hour long waits! To our surprise we found this little«gem» completely empty… Now I know why!!! Food was disgusting… Service was crap and the place smelled like mildew! Every thing appeared to be fried in the same container destroying whatever taste was supposed to accompany the food! Please don’t stop here ever!

Wonderful Old School Cape Cod meal. Excellent breakfast or lunch in a dark wood paneled atmosphere overlooking a lake with ducks and birds. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Holy sticker shock!!! $ 19.99 for fish & chips. Unreal!!! Walked out as soon as. I saw the ridiculously high priced entrees.

This place was gross. The staff were nice, but the dishes were dirty and the food left a lot to be desired. My brother ordered a steak, and as he was cutting into it he found a straw wrapper on his plate under the food. I found a hair in my meal, but that was definitely the least gross part of my portabella sandwich, which had a lot more soggy broccoli in it than mushrooms(I counted 3 thin slices). Misleading menu, definitely not worth the price. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because our server was very nice, and because my parents enjoyed their clam chowder.

i went here on Memorial day weekend with my wife and two kids. While we waited we noticed the table next to us apparently had not received what they had expected from their order. The waitress was completely annoyed that they had not specified the changes they wanted, and sighed repeatedly about having to make changes to the order. She even told the customers that she«couldn’t read their minds.» We should have known things weren’t going to go well after witnessing the service. The kids and i ordered breakfast and it was pretty good. My wife, being a vegetarian ordered one of their salads, and realized the red peppers tasted very strange, almost rancid. When she notified the waitress of the bad tasting peppers, the waitress looked perplexed and commented on how«that seemed so strange since they all came from the same batch», insinuiating they must be fine. When the waitress returned, she notified us that the chef had«tested» the peppers, and thought they were fine. This is where I have a problem. If a customer has a problem with their meal, there should be no discussion. You as a business have a chance to shine and make it better. Don’t argue and try and try to deny that the food tastes bad, just make it right. Customers are the life blood of any business, treat them right and you will prosper, treat them poorly and you will suffer. Well, needless to say, we weren’t impressed and will not be returning in the future. The only reason I didn’t give them a 1 star rating is because the breakfast was good. I was most disappointed by the service.

The clam chowder was superb, and maybe the best I’ve had(I’m not a big foodie but I do love clam chowder, so take that as you wish). Also had the roast beef omelette which was good, but kinda old fashioned. There was nothing wrong with it, just not my cup of tea. Prices are pretty good and service too. It seems popular with the locals, which is typically a good thing. It’s right opposite the Cape Cod Creamery so don’t forget icecream afterwards!

Favorite breakfast restaurant on or off Cape… this location is best of all their locations. Super friendly staff, managers and the chefs always satisfy. They have an extensive menu from pancakes and omelets of all kinds… healthy egg white creations with fruit, delicious homemade roast beef hash, and my personal favorite, the berry brioche French toast that they serve during the summer season to steak tips with eggs and hash browns it’s all delicious and reasonably priced for the large portions. We love longtime waitperson Patrick… a real pro, but honestly the entire staff is welcoming and go out of their way to accommodate any requests. They used to wear colonial garb there years ago which went better with the rustic décor, but it’s traditional New England… and if you get a nice booth or table overlooking the duck pond it’s an extra plus!

Let me preface this review by saying I usually really like to eat here, but today something has gone horribly awry. The seafood did not taste fresh. The food was lukewarm and under seasoned. The beer was also lukewarm. I was with my sister, who is a restaurant manager and she said she would never serve food or beverages at the temperature our food and drink was served at. The waitstaff was very polite and attentive. She suspected that management was either cutting corners or there had been some issue with the chef that night. Either way, my mother was so put off that we won’t be coming back.

Very friendly service. They made my daughter a sandwich not on the menu. I had the best homemade chicken noodle soup! My husbands blue cheese burger was amazing… nice easy family place

Extensive menu, great variety of offerings. Breakfast all day. Nice slightly upscale casual rustic diner atmosphere. Prices are a bit on the high side for a diner, but right in line with similar places on the Cape. I had a chicken salad sandwich, it was just right. The service was quick, although I was there in the off-season. Has free wifi. For some reason it worked fine for my wife, but I couldn’t get the signal.

I’ve been going to Heart N Kettle since I can remember when we would go on vacation down the Cape. I’m not sure what the original draw was since apparently this is a chain, but I think it had something to do with the now defunct duck pond in back. When my brother and I were little we LOVED to feed the ducks. On vacation, we used to come here daily for breakfast. So I thought it was a treat to go back as a 31 year old and see how it held up. I have to say, it was similar to how I remember. I was sad that the waitstaff no longer had to wear old timey pilgrim clothing, but the atmosphere is still Colonial themed. I was pleasantly surprised with my bagel sandwich and homefries and my husband really enjoyed his Portuguese Breakfast Skillet. I was actually stunned that the food was good, and definitely a step above the average chain restaurant. A few other pros: –Breakfast served until 3 daily. –I noticed Cape Cod Beer on draft and they actually have a pretty nice bar.
