My husband and I popped in here a couple times during a recent trip to visit my in-laws(his parents). Somerset doesn’t have much to do in the evenings, so we were pleased to find a bar at the bottom of the hill from where they live. Pottersville Pub is a quaint, no frills neighborhood bar in the heart of Somerset(on County St.). The bar had a bit of a Cheers vibe, and we saw several people nodding hello to each other and mingling a bit between groups. When you walk into the bar, you are greeted with a long bar with about a dozen bar stools, and more tables/chairs along the wall. On the back wall there’s a large TV which was playing the Red Sox game during my visit(yay, sports!). In a back room there are two pool tables, but we didn’t play a game that night. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering there aren’t many other bars close by. I was told Pottersville Pub has Karakoe and live music nights twice weekly, but we didn’t happen to catch either. I can’t recall the bartender’s name, but my father-in-law, who grew up in Somerset, suspected it’s probably someone he knew from growing up here 40+ years ago — another testament to the neighborly feel of this bar. Unfortunately, my FIL wasn’t with us during our stops in, so I can’t verify this fact. In either case, we will definitely head back here next year during our annual visit.
