Our first time to Buttonwood and it was unforgettable. Cute little tasting room but the back patio is so beautiful and a perfect space for a picnic. The wines were outstanding, all Bordeaux varietals with a really good Syrah Rose and Cuvée. We had a great time chatting with the pourers and learning about all the history of the property. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. Overall great experience and we’ll definitely recommend for all to visit.

Nice winery. They had a taco stand here on the day we went that made fabulous tacos. The tasting was quite nice. The staff let us sample pretty much anything we wanted inside, outside of our flight. Even let us sample some chocolate while tasting their port. Ultimately we came home with a couple bottles of their Chardonnay. Loved it.

We had an excellent tasting experience at Buttonwood last week. The woman helping us was SO helpful and friendly to talk to. We learned a lot about the wines & the Santa Ynez region and took home a lovely red that I can’t wait to break out this fall. Thanks Buttonwood, y’all rock!

Peaches for you, peaches for me, peaches for everybody! I didn’t even know there were so many peach types, but man, are all of them delicious(well, most of them, I couldn’t try them all.) The farm is basically attached to the wine tasting room, and you can wander the grounds with your wine. I particularly enjoyed their white varietals, perhaps because they went best with the peaches. They also had some great jams/dips/jellies/etc made with peaches and/or grapes. We brought home the jalapeño jam since my mom makes this great appetizer with cream cheese and jalapeño jelly. Anyway, it didn’t disappoint. Definitely a decent stop, especially if you have non wine drinkers, kids, or a few people that just want something non-alcoholic for a bit.

We love the Santa Ynez area, and have many favorites, but decided to try Buttonwood for a change based on recommendations. We went on Mother’s Day with friends, and picked up picnic lunches at Panino’s in Los Olivos, and headed out to Buttonwood. Based on their website and recommendations we thought it would be the perfect place to picnic with our elementary age kids, but were greatly disappointed when we got there to find out that the grassy area and pond are only for wine club members. Thankfully there were still picnic benches in the yard, but it wasn’t anything like we were expecting. And the wine was just ok. We didn’t buy any to take home.

Didn’t plan a wine tasting tour so my fiancé and I just kind of winged it! We picked this place after the Unilocal reviews and we’re glad we did. We arrived a few minutes after it opened(11am) super close from our hotel and we were the only ones in there haha! did the classic and reserve wine tasting and the girl(didn’t catch her name) was very helpful and nice to talk too… I don’t know all that much about wine and she explained all the notes really well. We walked outside into the garden which was pretty and the weather was perfect. We left with a bottle of wine(we purchased a bottle of 2010 Trevin) and we made sure to try the peaches… they literally melt in your mouth! so we grabbed some of those too. Overall, a really good experience and I would love to come back here again.

Who would allow friendly folks to serve decent(but unremarkable) wines in a unique and relaxing, charming farm setting with nice photo opportunities? Button wood.

Buttonwood is delightful. My friend and I came here about 2 years ago and joined their wine club that same day. There are many things I love about this place, but the service has to be excellent for me to give any business 5 stars. Every person I’ve met working here has been friendly. Every person that has ever poured for me has been outgoing, engaging and full of fabulous information about their wines, soils, region and climate that influence their wines. Their Pinot and Chardonnay I believe are grown closer to the ocean near Lompoc, but the rest is grown on site at Buttonwood. They recently grafted their Marsanne into Grenache Blanc and are opening up their on site pond soon to hold events like wine club pick-up parties for members. It’s not just a winery, it’s also a farm and it’s also a place where you can picnic with your favorite food and enjoy a bottle of great wine with friends. I recommend the Syrah Rose, the Signature Blend Sauv Blanc, and the Chardonnay. If you’re looking for a nice red try the Grenache Syrah or the Cab Franc. Honestly, I love most of their wines. They make balance a huge priority in their wines — they mix oak with neutral with stainless steel. Their price point is considerably lower than most other wineries I’ve visited in the Valley. Today I picked up my fav Sauv Blanc for $ 12(wine club gets 20−30% off depending). Regular price bottles range from around $ 15 up to $ 35 give or take a little — very reasonable. This family farm & winery is truly a special place to visit.

My husband and I stopped at Buttonwood on our bike ride from Solvang to Los Olivos. This was the first winery along the way. The grounds of Buttonwood are absolutely beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed sipping our wine while sitting in the garden and watching the morning sunlight filter through the trees. I believe the name of the woman serving us in the tasting room as Jessica, and she was awesome. Jessica was so knowledgeable and friendly and she really helped make our experience special. My husband and I both really liked the white wines here. The winemaker uses a lot of stainless steel barrels, so the white wines are extremely fragrant. Overall we had a wonderful experience at Buttonwood and I would love to come back! (FYI, we also used a 2 for 1 tasting coupon, which was a great value!)

This is an adorable winery and working farm. The garden outside is so cozy! I wish I could get my landscaping to look that good. We had a 2 for 1 tasting coupon and received excellent service. The wines were good every day kind of wines, nothing that really wowed me. I did enjoy the Semi-Semi dessert wine.

I always enjoy my stop at Buttonwood Vinyard. I have come here with my GF several times… And the wine is always good. The scenery is great as well because they have a big property to walk around and enjoy your wine. When you go, they give you a glass to keep… and if you bring the glass back the next time your tasting is free. Me and my GF have gotten our tastings for free the last few times we have gone, and every time we leave buying about 4 bottles to take home. The last time I went the Semi-Semi was the best wine there. I like sweet whites, and this was right on the money. It was perfect, so I took home more than 1 bottle. The whites at Buttonwood are very crisp and clean, and the reds and smooth but not overpowering. A great tasting experience for sure. If you are in Solvang, take a stop here for a wine tasting. You will have a great time, I promise!!!

Good wine, if not earth shattering. This is a nice place to start your day. I like the SAUVBLANC and the CABFRANC. Both are good. The tasting room is small but the folks that pour are knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds are truly lovely, with trees and flowers everywhere. Buttonwood is also a farm and at the time we were there, it was peach season. You better believe we bought some peaches. They were the best peaches I have had in years. Word. My Santa Ynez Valley Disclaimer: Overall, it’s much more expensive to taste in the SB region then it use to be. Most places are $ 12 – 15 where it use to be $ 5 with an occasional $ 10 but then you would get it credited back if you bought wine. HA! Gone are those days. Sad for those of us that have been tasting here for 20 years or so.

It pains me to write this review because at one point in time I used to love this place. I had been a member for several years and although the wines weren’t spectacular, I thought they were good every day wines. The people used to be nice. Now they’re really weird. It’s hard to explain. They don’t take the time to explain the wines and seem so crabby. I think they got a whole new staff or something because it’s not the pleasant farm I used to love anymore. Sorry, guys. Had to dump you. Hope you can make a comeback.

On our visit to Santa Ynez, our last stop was Buttonwood and we definitely saved the BESTFORLAST. Buttonwood is charming, pleasant, and relaxing. It has a real homey«backyard» vibe to it. The garden was beautiful and the landscaping is inviting. You just want to frolic and run in the fields. There were wild flowers everywhere, fruit trees, and a lovely patio with a large lawn area. This winery had a really down-to-earth vibe. It’s family run and the staff are unbelievably friendly and knowledgeable. Fidi helped us with out tastings and he was so engaging, informative and passionate. He also let us try a rose(which was not included in our tasting) and it was such a treat! I normally am not a fan but their rose was crisp and refreshing. Buttonwood is a totally non-pretentious winery and you don’t ever feel stupid for not being a wine expert. Fidi also let us revisit a few of our favorite wines before our group left. Great dude, and great attentive service. We enjoyed all the different wines that we tried. We also tried a pinot grigio that ended up being our favorite. We bought a bottle of that to take back to LA to remind us of our trip. Absolutely HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

Classic tasting for $ 10. Reserve tasting for $ 15. Glass of wine of any for $ 10. Their wine selection from all whites to reds was a little too acidic for my taste. Some were sour. Some were tart. The least acidic one of the batch is the pinot noir. The worse(unanimously voted by my friends as well) is the cab franc. The venue and people were delightful. Walk out to the back and you’ll find a courtyard big enough for you to take a nice stroll(with your glass of wine) and big enough for you and your group of friends to eat and relax — perfect place to bust out the picnic basket. Overall, it was a pleasant spot to hang out. Totally recommend this place for the experience, but I do not recommend this place for their selection of wine.

We parked our car and saw a bus pulling in… in a few minutes the tasting room was packed full like a Japanese train at rush hour. So we decided to have a picnic in the back first and wait for the crowd to disappear. We were able to enjoy the farthest picnic table in the middle of the peach trees where it was quiet and shaded under a big tree. Wine was interesting, we were able to try 100% Syrah, 100% Merlot, and 100% Cab. All grapes were locally grown other than Pinot, and we enjoyed friendly and laid back atmosphere in the tasting room. We will be back here during the summer for their peaches for sure. Good place for large group, kids and bikes.
