Laura Guest

Laura is an exceptional trainer and a phenomenal person. I have had a number of trainers over the years and Laura is by far the best. She has excellent knowledge of the human body, muscular system, and in the areas of nutrition and overall fitness. Anytime I have aches or pains in particular muscles she is able to instantaneously identify the cause and set me up with a few targeted stretches and other ways to solve the problem. I trained with her through my entire pregnancy last year and she was able to adapt the workouts based on what I was able to do at any given stage and also to strengthen my balance and core strength to accomodate the pregnancy. Laura is also accomodating and flexible with regard to scheduling. Most of all, she is delightful! Each workout is both physically draining and fun. I hate dragging myself out of bed at 5.30 but I look forward to my workouts. Laura plays a critical role in my overall health and fitness. I have no idea what i would do without her.

Laura provides amazing small group classes at Fort Mason — Tuesday and Thursday at 7am — woo-​hoo! Only thing I look forward to getting up for AND I am not a morning person! Not only provides fun and constantly changing workouts — but also invaluable advice on nutrition. She had me at burpee… not so much! ;) Hollis

Laura worked with me for about a year. She was able to quickly tailor workouts to what i wanted to accomplish and she made it fun/​not boring. I get bored easily but not when i had a session with Laura. She figured out how to motivate me to work harder without being overbearing or annoying. I still use her workouts that she designed to me.

Laura is absolutely amazing! I started working with her over three years ago at the YMCA in Berkeley. She was assigned to me for my fitness orientation and thank goodness for that! She listens to you and develops an individual plan based on your fitness goals, target areas and schedule. You never get bored because she mixes cardio and strength training so you can get a lot done in a very short amount of time. Plus, she is fun to talk to while you train and is very encouraging throughout while recognizing your limits. I’m so excited that she has her own practice now so I can ditch my gym and come see her!
I also did her half-​marathon training program which I also recommend for any level of runner. When I started I could barely run a mile without having to stop several times… she did a really great job of choosing a pace time that worked for me and stressed the importance of not pushing yourself too hard at the beginning of the training process. She is a nationally ranked ultra-​marathon runner herself so she really knows her stuff. Following her program, I completed my first half marathon — not only way faster that I had thought — but strong from start to finish. I definitely would not have been able to do it without her support and training! Yay Laura!

At 24 Hour Fitness you get what you pay for. Stinky gyms and personal trainers that are hit or miss. But I LUCKED out two years ago when I signed up for a personal training package at the gym in Potrero and randomly got assigned Laura.
She is a fabulous trainer. Her knowledge is impressive. She knows a million exercises that will kick your butt so you don’t get bored. She is encouraging and always checked in during the week to see how things were going. She really understands how the body works and gives great technical advice on working certain muscle groups. And better than that, she’s not one of these crazy work-​out lunatic trainers who are solely obsessed with pumping iron and keep pushing supplements at you. (I actually got one of those freaks once.) She’s just a totally cool normal gal. She’s my go-​to trainer now when I am motivated and have money to spare.
And her running skills are amazing. She’s done lots of marathons and triathlons and all kinds of stuff I’ll never do. So if you’re into that, she’d be a great one to help you train.
