GNC as a chain:
–Yes, products are expensive.
I end up buying things when they are on sale — Protip. You can find some amazing deals on items close to expiration (ie– August and item has October expiration). I’ve literally bought protein bars that usually sale for almost $ 3 for $ 1! The number and items on sale vary per location so a bit of luck is involved.
This location fun facts:
1. This GNC is kind of at the edge of sketchville.
2. I’ve actually made a number of purchases here and one of the employees knows me by name. (Am I turning into my mother?)
3. The location is small
4. It’s a GNC so you can find your usual GNC-​fare.
5. Gold Card always helps and can get you even better deals.

Was sexually harassed by employee (as he grabbed my card for payment he spread some thing on my hand (lotion maybe) and asked me to undress on the side for a massage! He had locked door at this point)
Management told me not to come in when he is working, offered me a $ 25 GC! Because I’m a guy m expected to be ok with it!

Since I work in the city (San Francisco for those outside of the area) I figured I would go to the one there to make the return. The one that was closest to my job was located on Polk Street. I went into the store and I wanted to make a return of the product. This was on 19 January 2015 around 12:15 or so. I walk into the store there is a lady (Maria, from the receipt) behind the counter and one who has her items sprawled out all and she was still walking around making purchases. The salesperson asked if she could help me and I said yes. I was there to make a return and she asked if I had my receipt. It wasn’t that she asked, it was how she asked. I get that I just walked through a rough neighborhood and I had a backpack on and I probably looked like a street urchin.
However, I am sure I at least appeared a little more groomed and employed than your average street urchin.
Then she asked me if my product was opened. It wasn’t that she asked, it was how she asked. I get it, I am black, and I just walked through some filth on the street to make a return of a product that she probably thought I stole. I even explained to her that I get that from her but I was not that type of person. I gave her the sealed product and she opened it and said oh it isn’t opened. As if I didn’t just tell her that myself. Then asked me if I got the product in a back or in a box or just like that. I totally understand where she was coming from based on the area but not every person who looks like a young college student with a backpack and tennis shoes is that. She asked me why I was returning the product and I explained that my husband purchased me the same product on base. She did the exchange and I was off. I had totally sworn off GNC at that point.

One star purely based on the fact that whoever was working the day I stopped by decided to close the store at 130 pm on a Wednesday to go out for lunch. Pretty bad business practice and I’m guessing ownership is unaware of it.

As a loyal customer, I have shopped at all of the GNC locations in San Francisco. Every visit to any store is worthwhile and never a waste of time for me as a customer and business for the GNC employees. Vitamins and various supplements have become a vital part of my necessities.
Unfortunately this Polk Street location is by far the worst. Not only the store is located in the Tenderloin, the associates are not friendly, helpful or knowledgeable. For example, I asked a recommendation for a supplement to increase my testosterone-​level. That unspecified associate had no clue what is good and pointed out the selection of my needed supplement. «I thought the associate (s) should know their own products!»
The only bright side of this location is that this store is located not far from my crib. Products I know and want, I get from here (only if on sale with the «Gold Card Membership for an annual fee of $ 15.00). Other than that, never ask the associates for useful advice. You will not receive any.

They have what u need. But Watch out for the sweet filipino lady, she is an OG HUSTLER and you will walk out having spent $ 100 when you went in for a multi vitamin.

There all really nice people that work there. Their vita-​packs are so good!!!

This location is perfect for me and I have been using GNC’s products for almost over a decade. Best of all, everytime I’m running low in cash you come up with some amazing «We’re running low on cash too so we have a sale» sale!
With that said, I appreciate the help but when I have to turn you away more than once and you continue to ask if I need any of the other hundreds of products you sell for the past 3 visits, I look at you differently. Relax, don’t spoil it for me.
