This place is now closed(at least if it really is on 357 Kearney). Does anyone know if it has moved and, more importantly, where I can find some freaking pizza in NOMA?!!

Solid, cheap, pizza, in a kinda hybrid new-york-meets-california-meets-seoul kind of way. Does that even make sense? Well I don’t care because that’s what it tastes like. Cute tiny interior and smiling faces at the counter too. Works for me and ill be back for a quick and cheap afternoon or evening bite when I’m in the area.

Really good food at a great price, especially considered it is in San Francisco. There is a funny«Engrish» saying on the menu where it states they offer«One SLICED of PIZZA» or «Two SLICED of pizza» + a soda for some combo. Not a huge deal, just kind of amusing. The pizza is not the best ever… it seems a little thin on crust and thick on cheese sometimes, but it’s well worth going to all the same.

Food 3 stars, price 4 stars. The people there are nice and the pizza is pretty good. The price is great. $ 5 for a personal pizza. I had the pesto pizza and is was pretty good. The olives they put on it were good. The tomatoes, eh? Overall I will definitely be back there for the value.

The old lady at the front was sweet both times I went and the service was quick. The pizza is decent, nothing special. They usually burn the crust a little, so that takes away from it. The location and price are very convenient. I recommend the four cheese pizza.

Agree with the other reviewers — there’s something funky about the oily smell. Crappy flavor. Pizza tastes oddly oily. Dough tasted like bland white flour.

Nice staff, good food, cheap price. I went a bit before closing and the place was empty. They’re also closed on weekends which seems odd. I got a pepperoni pizzeta, perfect size for one person. The pizza was great tasting and it was only $ 5.45, the next size up is only $ 7.50. Great deals for great pizza.

Good pizza… went there for lunch today and got the Pizzetta with ham, artichoke, and cheese(lots of it!). Everything is greasy, gooey, and good, can’t ask for anymore from a pizza… not bad for the price $ 6.03 with tax. The pizetta is pretty much equivilant to 2 slices. I was full before I even finished it. Gave it 3 stars coz I’ve just had better… but this was good. Will return but I like Escape from NY Pizza better.

I’ve never actually had goat cheese before, so I think my choice to try two pizzas with that as an ingredient was rather bold. Smart? Maybe not so much. But bold? Yes. Last night I ordered the Pesto pizza(pesto, goat cheese and tomatoes) and the Rustica(Sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese and garlic). Despite the fact that I’m not too fond of the aftertaste goat cheese leaves, both pizzas were pretty darn good. The Rustica covered up the aftertaste quite a bit, although the Pesto didn’t do as good of a job.(Next time, I think I’ll stick with feta or mozzerella.) However, for two types of pizza to contain an ingredient I don’t like and still somehow manage to be yummy is pure amazing. nd since I don’t eat pizza often for fear of indigestion and heartburn, this place is a godsend. This has got to be the most un-greasy pizza I have ever tried. The toppings on the Rustica kinda ended up all on one side, but I’ll forgive them since their pizza is a great bang for your buck.(I mean I can feed myself for three meals off of two 10″ pizzas. For $ 16 and some change, that is a darn good deal.)

I didn’t have time to leave the office yesterday, so I ordered a pesto & goat cheese pizzetta and a margherita pizzetta w/a chicken salad. $ 17 total, including(20 minute) delivery. Plenty of food for a few of us to share, and I was pleasantly surprised by the crispy crust and flavorful toppings. Delivery is provided for lunches $ 10 or more, which, considering my work just cancelled annual bonuses and enacted a salary freeze, might be a very good thing for my pocketbook and a very bad thing for my ass.

They *do* have large pizzas now. I had three 18″ pizzas delivered for lunch today to thank the awesome tech guys at my company for working on a project for me over the weekend. We got a Hawaiian, an Americano(sausage, pepperoni, etc.) and a quattro formaggi(four cheese). All were very good(the guys said ‘thumbs up’), not greasy„ and there was a freaking ton of it. Eat it fast, though; the crust is a bit thick and semi-soft, so it it’s best when hot.

Back when KBHK-44 used to still exist and I was an intern there, it was located around the corner from Café Med. The place is clean and unassuming with very little seating, so I didn’t expect much. After eating the Luganega pizzeta, I got hooked. I was going to design a t-shirt with an arrow pointing to my face with a note that said«Insert Pizzetas Here,» but I got tired of working as an unpaid intern for 3 years and decided to get a real job at TechTV. Once I’d moved on, I discovered that if I missed anything from working on California Street, it was being close to Café Med. I discovered later that the guy I was in love with loved this place too. When I finally got pissed off with him because I realized that he wasn’t that into me, I stopped going. I didn’t want to risk running into him. What a mistake! Now whenever I come to town, I gotta get me some Luganega. Dang it! I could have been getting it all along, but no. Goes to show you– never let anyone your attracted to determine where you will and won’t go for great food.

I’ve eaten here a ton of times, and it’s super reliable consistent, very tasty great pizza. It always satisfys! The good and the bad is that they do individual pizzas, so if you’re getting food for a group, it’s a little tricky, but but but I did just her they introduced a new 18 incher, so I may stand corrected. The individual pizzas are perfecto for 1 person, great toppings, and I really like the thin crispy crust. It’s not cracker thin, but it is very crispy so it stands up to the juicy peperoni or the chicken sausage they toss on there. The meal deal is a great way to go, small pizzetta of the day, salad and a drink. Great people in there, one of the better downtown options for sure.

Pizza Puttanesca. Pizza Puttanesca. Pizza … oh HAI! Sorry ’bout the chanting, but I was just having another Pizza Puttanesca craving. It’s all I ever get when I visit the Café Mediterraneo, because, quite frankly, it’s a damn good pizza. And they serve it up hot and fresh for me every time I order one. It only takes a few minutes — and not because it was previously frozen, oh no no no no! It’s because the pizza dough is just thin enough and the size(I usually get the 7″ diameter) is just right for a blast in their oven. I’ve come here on crowded days and I’ve come here on slow days and each time I get royal treatment from the owner. It’s a small place and not so ritzy compared to the other eats in the area, but you will feel satisfied when you’re finished with your pizza … puttanesca. (yum)

You just spent three hours in a meeting that runs until 1pm …and they have the nerve to tell you at the end that they’re not providing lunch. I felt like Blaine theater impresario Corky St. Clair as he said with feverish anger in «Waiting for Guffman» …“Well, then, I just HATE you… and I hate your… ass…FACE!“ Fortunately, I found my inner zen and went to Café Mediterraneo where I found my old best friend… carbs. I think there are places to sit in here, but I’ve never thought about eating pizza in front of people. Geez, my shirt is a magnet for grease stains, and my Tide stick only goes so far. I went for the $ 8.75 Fresca Pollo Pizza for one. Yes, a ten-inch round of chicken chunks and melted cheese(see my photo). Sure, I was belchy… and bitchy… afterward. What of it? Because you know what? Those people are BASTARDPEOPLE! No, no, not the Café Mediterraneo people. They’re really nice. I mean those damn trainers in the class. Next time, I’m bringing my «Remains of the Day» lunch box and«My Dinner with Andre» action figures. I’m going to bite my pillow now. PIZZA — 4 stars… actually really good for a one-person pizza… oh look, it comes with instructions on the box: «Warm it up in the oven. Don’t warm it up. Who cares? You’re alone.» AMBIANCE — 3 stars…(shrug)…I-I-I don’t know… never ate IN the place SERVICE — 4 stars… very friendly and patient TOTAL — 4 stars… need a carb overload on a bad work day? well, here’s the ticket

For me the first thing I think of when I hear the phrase«personal pan pizza» is Book It by Pizza Hut back in elementary school. Anyone else? While you don’t get a star on your Book It pin when you come to Mediterraneo, you do get a pretty darn good gourmet personal pizza. I’ve only had some of the basic ones but I’m looking forward to trying more. Can’t believe I’ve worked around the corner for a year and a half and only just now found out about this place. Yum!

As you can see, the personal sized pizza is a hit here, no question. The crust is pretty tasty and perfectly baked though the industrial conveyor belt toaster oven. Each pizza is baked to order, so you know it’s as fresh as it can get. The margherita is my fav and the luganega comes a very close second(italian sausage, caramelized onions, fontina). Around $ 5 for the pizzeta and around $ 7 for the larger one. For me, the pizzeta is a healthy enough portion for an average lunch. But the other little nugget of information for this place is the chicken salad(«pollo» $ 4.50). Simple on a bed of chopped romaine lettuce, sprinkled with carrots, and topped off with a generous amount of grilled chicken breast — not the fake microwave dinner faux-chicken, but actual seasoned grilled yet moist chicken chunks. The house brown slightly creamy vinaigrette-like dressing(on the side) is definitely flavorful — tangy semi-sweet but very layered and unique. They always give you two plastic vessels of it, but you only really need one. For 50 cents(i think. maybe $ 1) more, you can get the same pizza dough crust round as a side, which is also toasted through the machine. It’s heavily seasoned with herbs and it’s a great compliment to the salad. I always ask for ‘well done’, because I like it a little more crispy — makes it like a croûton.

Some of my co-workers clued me into this pizza spot, and what a sweet lunch find it is! You order at the counter and it’s hard to get a seat, but whether you eat in or take out, it’s definitely a delicious deal. For around eight bucks, you get a small pizza(with whatever toppings), a salad and a soda. Next time, I’m going for a calzone, see what happens from there.
