I’ll give it 4 stars, since its got good bang for the buck. I had the Marco Polo pasta which was an awesome and well-balanced dish. Beers for $ 3.50 all day made me happy. Staff was attentive, prompt and competent. Didn’t try the pizza but it looked so good,…next time tho. Recommended!

Rude rude rude service. The pizza isn’t even good. The place is dirty. The waters all had floating crumbs in them when we got them. Our waitress did a whole lot of eye rolling and acting irritated. However, she treated another table with smiles. Maybe racist since everyone but me is African American at our table. Do not recommend is place at all.

False advertising!!! It’s says free meal but when you check in it shows the full message that it has to be on your birthday week n you have to bring 2 paying friends with you!

Went in on a rainy day and so glad we did. Delicious pizza! Delicious seafood pasta! All in all the food was very good! Seriously hit the spot. Service was really good also. I’ll be back soon!

Very disappointing experience. The lady at the counter has issues. The most unfriendly person on the planet. She slammed our condiments down in front of us, never spoke or smiled at us. A very unwelcoming experience. She was actually mad we sat down. REALLYRUDE. Lots of competition downtown. I’m a bartender. If I treated my customers like she treated us, they would be writing this Unilocal about me. Word of mouth. Would not recommend to enemies. 11÷20÷15

The woman working has an attitude problem. Acting like we upset her by simply sitting down. Slamming things down in front of us… RUDE and abrasive. Left without ordering, won’t be coming back.

We didn’t come to this place on purpose, rather, we were going to a restaurant next door but found out there’s no hot food there. That’s when we see this restaurant. It’s not large or fancy, but we love it. The food: we ordered ciopinno. What we got here was about 2⁄3 of the price of the same item from a restaurant with this in its name near the wharf, but quite surprisingly this tastes way better. We both completely finished our big plates. The service: I have not seen such caring and helpful waitress in a long time. Comes to our table all the time checking if we need anything, always prompt, always patient. I am quite surprised at their low rating here on Unilocal so I thought I’d share my experience, because they definitely deserve a lot higher.

Not bad… we were hungry after my husband got into town late at night, and this was what was open and close to the hotel… so off we went. Service — Meh/Okay. Friendly enough. Food — Okay. I ordered a salad and pasta. Wasn’t great, wasn’t horrible. My husband ordered pizza, he ate it all, so it was apparently good at least. It’s okay. Seemed sort of like a «neighborhood» bar/pizza type place.

I come here several times a week and it’s a wonderful experience every time! The food is excellent(if they have the lasagna special when you come, you HAVE to get it; for the pizza lovers — it’s thin crust, and very good thin crust, which is a lot coming from me because I’m a deep dish person) and the prices can’t be beat. This is not common in a place like San Francisco, which is super touristy and most restaurants take advantage of that. Thankfully Pomodoro doesn’t :) Literally everyone who works here is awesome and in a genuine way, NOT the fake«customer servicey» way. If I need to meet clients or friends in the Financial District for lunch, this is my go to place. I know they’ll be happy here(and they always are :)

Terrible… The service was talking behind our backs. Salad was rotting and would not exchange it for a pizza slice. When we brought it to the manager she told us that romaine lettuce salads are supposed to be brown in the center… Avoid this terrible spot

Worst WORST delivered pizza ever! We ordered 2 x-large pizzas, which both got here in an hour(1 star). But both boxes were smashed, and half of the cheese and toppings slid off both pizzas. In addition to that, the dough was not cooked all the way through! And the pizzas were not warm. Disgusting. I will never eat Pomodoro’s pizza again!

The husband was hungry and I was tired, so my list of great places to eat was thrown out in favor of walking out our hotel’s front door and following our noses. The smell coming out of this place turned on the husband’s pizza craving, so we stepped inside, were seated quickly, briefly perused the menu, and ordered the meat lovers’ pizza. In the very long time it took for the pizza to get to our table, I checked in on Unilocal and noticed the not-super reviews, but figured whatever, it’s pizza with meat on it, how bad could it be? Well, it was pizza, and it wasn’t bad, exactly, it was just aggressively bland. The crust was tasteless and almost crumbly, like a tough cookie, and of the four meats that graced the top of the pizza only the pepperoni was really recognizable. Even the sausage managed to be a texture more than a flavor, and I did not think that possible. On the plus side, my husband was the hungry one and he can eat anything, so none of the pizza went to waste. But we will definitely be more wary about random pizza places in the future!

Worst service. Bland food. Pricy menu. The waitress threw the menus at us. Gave us water 15 minutes later. She didn’t take our order for 30 minutes. When she did, she THEN told us the chef was not making appetizers. Our food took an entire hour to get, with one order wrong. They never refilled the water or even asked us if we wanted something else to drink. Don’t ever go here.

The three star rating on this restaurant is entirely deserved. There is nothing inherently bad about this restaurant, but also nothing that makes it stand out. My biggest complaint is probably the service because: 1) It took them a while to put a table together for us. 2) When the food came out, they were very confused about who had what, and the dish names they said didn’t seem to match up with what we ordered. 3) The waitress seemed to be bumbling around and knocked over a glass of water and broke a dish while we were there. I had«Romina’s Spicy Penne Pollo Pasta.» It was pretty good, it had just the right amount of spice for me, however it seemed to lack other flavors. The portion size was a bit smaller than you may expect from pasta, but I actually think it was quite reasonable compared to the massive portions some restaurants give you(looking at you, Cheesecake Factory). Unless spice is the thing that makes the meal for you(rather than spice augmenting other flavors) I would recommend trying one of the other dishes, if you choose to go here. Though I did not partake, they have $ 3.50 beers all day, which is a pretty decent deal. As an aside, the«Check in for a Free Meal» option has a caveat that you see(after checking in) that it is only on your birthday and ID is required.

After walking to the ferry building to find a bite to eat(bad idea since everything was closed on New Years), we wandered to this restaurant, one of the very few that were open today. Now I know why. This is probably the most business they get on any given day. My fears were confirmed after I took a bite of the Caesar salad. It was a sad salad with wilted lettuce. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo was soupy and the chicken didn’t taste fresh. My pizza was mediocre, crust wasn’t bad but toppings could of been higher quality. Service was fast and friendly though, however wouldn’t warrant a repeat visit unless I was desperately searching for any open restaurant on a national holiday.

This is probably the worst Italian food I’ve ever tasted. Like even worse than MY cooking. I always see this place super busy, but I guess it’s just because it’s conveniently located on a corner in FiDi. The waitresses barely speak English, so they’re pretty nice but generally not too welcoming. I even asked them a question about the Unilocal special but she left to ask her boss and never came back. As for the food itself, I ordered the Carciofi e Pollo Pasta($ 12.95) which is linguine with chicken, artichoke hearts, and vegetables in olive oil herb sauce. Usually when there is an olive oil herb sauce, the pasta is more flavorful but there really was no flavor. The chicken had good flavor, but it was overcooked and hard. I wish the vegetables were more… whole instead of just small shreds. There are so many other places to eat in FiDi. I’m always willing to try new places, but I’ll also recognize when I’d rather not come back to a place again.

Update: This restaurant no longer wants business people having a piece of pizza. Everything else from my previous review is still valid. I returned for lunch on Jul 222014 only to find that the menu says INBOLDREDCAPITAL letters that the single slice of pizza is only to go. Needless to say there were only four people in the restaurant at 12:15 pm on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. 3÷8÷2011 The beer is great, the soccer on the TV is nice and the staff, friendly and the reason I keep going back. The food is nothing special; it’s not bad but just a little boring.

It’s nothing fancy but post run along the embarcadero on a warm SF evening, we were drawn to the outdoor seating and all day, everyday, happy hour pints. The happy hour deal is $ 3.50 pints and they have a pretty good selection of taps here including Trumer, Stella, Lagunitas, and Speakeasy’s new lager Metropolis. To accompany the beer, we thought we would share a couple of things to snack on. We started with the caprese salad and I was pleasantly surprised by the portions although the tomatoes were a little under-ripe and tough. We also split a personal Pucillo pizza and it was pretty satisfying with meatiness courtesy of the Italian sausage and prosciutto. Again it’s nothing fancy and the servers are pretty casual but cordial here. For a quick bite and some pints, it more than suffices especially if you want to sit outside on Kearny St. I remembered there being more Pomodoro outlets in the city but this might be the last one standing.

We came at 9:30pm and besides a cloud of cheese smell we were greeted by the personal with a restrictive: «slices only!» 3 out of 4 of us enjoyed the take-away-slices but the lack of friendliness and service isn’t worth any more than 2 stars!
