Came here for a quick bite with my co-worker. She was craving pizza and I recall a pizza place nearby when I was running errands. Pretty busy during lunch time, ordering was very quick and easy and they have a big menu inside. Got a slice of the West Side BBQ Chicken, it was ok, not amazing, but gets the job done. I would come here again if I was in a rush to get something cheesy to eat :)

Okay — so I generally come here for You say Potato — which is fantastic. That said all their pies are really good. Last week, in a rush I grabbed a Miss Figgy. New favorite — just excellent blend of flavors and textures.

So I can’t say that Escape From New York has the best pizza, or even really good pizza. The pizza is good, and I’ll definitely visit again, but it’s not great. The 5 star rating is really based on my experience today. There was a sizable group of us(10 or so) and we crammed into a couple of tables which we were lucky to find. We ordered a couple of pizzas which came out very quickly. We ordered some sodas and discovered that they were flat(no carbonation). The staff informed us that they were changing the tank, and them a couple of minutes later, they came to the table with fresh beverages. I fully expected to have to go to the counter to get my own freshened beverage. I kind of surprised myself for giving 5 stars to Escape From New York, but I guess it’s the little things(like proactively bringing out fresh beverages) that go a long way for me. Seems silly now that I am reading my own review, but the rating stands…

When it’s heated up it just warms the bottom mostly, the cheese didn’t melt for me. But it still tasted good. I’m sure I could have asked for it to be in there longer. $ 7 and change for a medium drink and LARGE slice of pizza is a pretty decent deal. Come at happy hour for a cheaper piece. I have to give them credit for grabbing the biggest piece from the pie for me too. And it wasn’t the end slice, she didn’t even ask she just gave me the biggest one. Thumbs up there! ;) it makes you feel like you stretched your dollar.

PROS: — Combos are fantastic: favs are Miss Figgy, You Say Potato or Big Applewood Chicken — Cheap slices and pints: $ 3 pints and slices during 4−6pm Happy Hour — Big screen TV: great low-key spot in FiDi to catch games without dealing with an overcrowded bar. — Quick delivery: pies delivered, fast and fresh CONS: — Pizza is best warm: something molecular happens after the cheese cools — Closed Sundays: sorry no NFL marathons here

From Chicago where contrary to popular belief we love our thin crust(deep dish is for tourists). It was after 10pm on a Sunday so options were limited. Ordered delivery, ingredients were fresh, service great and delivered quickly. The woman who took my order suggested going with sausage rather then pepperoni as they have a great sliced home original type and she was right on.

I live pizza, finding great NY style pizza on the west coast is hard to come by but this place is great! Give them a try!

Environment and area is neat. We ate outside on the outdoor tables. Ordered pepperoni slice and salad. Pizza was okay and salad was small.

Really like those place! This will now be my GOTO pizza joint. I came here because I hear about the pesto pizza. I ordered a slice for $ 4.50(which is not bad for SF) it was a good slice. OMG was it delicious! I walked out of that place a happy camper. The place was very clean and roomy as well. This is a good place for pizza.

This is the best pizza ive had in California period. This is coming from a native new yawker. Only minus is that it cost $ 12 for two slices and a snapple. Its not new york pizza but its pretty damn close.

The mechanism of developing a hack is to first understand the established system and then proceed via a minority method that provides specific advantages for self-benefit. This applies when seeing through walls in a video game, reheating leftover pizza in a waffle maker, or chaining hangers together to preserve closet space. The available hack at Escape from New York Pizza is simple and richly rewarding. Assuming you are uninterested in battling the throngs that evacuate at noon, you must resort to choosing between cold and limp orphaned slices that populate the trays at the beginning and end of lunchtime. Instead of pining for a better pie while chewing through a stale crust, simply identify which pizza is not represented on the trays and ask if that combination is coming out from the oven soon. At this point, you will be informed of a wait time and be guaranteed a fresh slice in return for your patience. Biting into the piping hot slice overloaded with cheese and toppings quickly erase any memory of the minor wait. You are even given an oversized slice to compensate your sacrifice. You Say Potato is definitely Escape from New York’s signature slice.

My «go-to» for the dreaded lunch time indecision. When in doubt — go pizza and this is as consistent as it gets. The only surprise i get from them is trying something new, never a doubt on quality. I always know what i’m getting: a) good, fresh ingredients b) crisp, tasty, hand-tossed crusts c) just the right amount of cheese d) just the right amount of spice Keep it on your list if you’re working in the area. Glad they’re here.

Another entry in the«order food for work» series, where I look for ease of ordering, ease of delivery/pickup, and taste of the food(of course!). Escape From New York has a really easy web ordering system, where you can pick the exact pizzas and the delivery time/location. Badabing, badaboom, they called at the appointed and hour delivered the pizza right to the meeting room. I ordered: — Cheese pizza — You Say Potato pizza — And Warhol pizza — Veggie Combo pizza — NY Pesto Chicken pizza — Glorious Chicken pizza — Small tray of spring mix salad I made the mistake of ordering 6 x-large pizzas for a group of 20 people, and we ended up with only half of the pizza being eaten. I guess that’s better than under-ordering and not having enough, right? Anyway, the pizzas looked great and there was good variety, the taste was just okay. They all had great toppings, but just a bit under-seasoned and bready.

Great New York style pizza ! Hand tossed with fresh mozzarella, pepperoni sausage and the slices are worth every bite ! Great customer service friendly ! The constant flow of people says a lot as it shows just how good the pizza subs and salads are ! It’s a must when ever on Bush street in downtown Financial district of San Francisco ! Great happy hour from 4 – 6 pm and the prices are great ! You won’t be disappointed here !

Pretty good pizza. I definitely like the Pesto and Cheese pizza when I want a little flavor on my pizza. I want to try a custom pizza but it’s usually too packed and I’m on my lunch break so maybe one day out of the weekend I will for sure. Will definitely recommend this for someone looking for a quick bite to eat or they just need something to grab and take back to the office real quick.

First impression when you walk in, is that of dust. Thick, dirty dust covers the walls. Second, there are cases of soda and other things that they haven’t taken in the back and take up room in the dining area. Third, on the opposite side of the restaurant is, a pile of what looks like old broken chairs and other such garbage. Ordering is very easy and the staff very friendly. The pizza is the best around. After you get your slice please get a napkin before picking up the greasy, dirty shakers for your cheese and peppers. Grab a few more napkins because even though the lunch rush may be long over no one wants to wipe down the tables or seats. If you are in a suit please don’t sit down. As I was leaving a young woman brought back her beer because her glass had crud on it. It’ll be a while before I return. Too bad too because the, «You say potato» is one of the better slices in town.

I’ve been eating at Escape From New York a lot lately and realized the 3 Stars from my previous review doesn’t really do it justice. The staff is really friendly and silly and always lets me choose which slice of pizza from the tray I want(because I’m a huge pizza diva), they have beer on tap or in bottles for a nice little lunch beer, plus happy hour($ 2.50 beers? Oh my!). Indoor and outdoor seating, and a TV so you can watch Ze Germans beat Brazil(sorry Brazil).

I’m quite confused looking at these pictures of awesome looking pizza… because their pizza doesn’t look like that. Like all of the other EFNY locations I’ve been to in the city, they skimp on toppings. They have the weakest mushroom slice I’ve ever had. Weak on mushrooms. Weak on cheese. Another strike against em: they don’t have a decent veggie slice. I’m not a vegetarian, but I love veggie pizza. They don’t have a «veggie slice.» They have a greek type thing, and they sometimes have a pesto slice, and the aforementioned weaksauce mushroom. I could imagine this would be a pain for someone who actually is a vegetarian. The slices that include meat also tend to be skimpy, and they have the floppiest crust, ever. They get a meh. A big fat«meh.»

Melted, warm cheese with sliced up sausage, this pizza is yummy! Crust is nicely fluffed up and not on the dry side. Their spring mix salad was good — olives and dried cranberries are plusses for me. They don’t use homemade dressing, but packaged ones. That’s a letdown. A guaranteed good slice of pizza with salad! Their delivery is a reliever!
