We stopped in on our way to the post office and had a great lunch here! It was a pleasant atmosphere and a warm cozy feel to place. My wife had the roasted tomato soup that was creamy with rich tomato flavor. I had the grilled cheese sandwich that came with a delicious side salad with grated carrots, a nice touch. I asked for some onions on it and the chef made it happen, done just right too, crispy but not overdone. We will definitely go back, of course the piece of blood orange, house made cheese cake finished off the best lunch we’ve had in a while!

My wife & I have had breakfast here several times in the last few months & we are confirmed regulars now. The food is very good, and Emily is a sweetheart always very attentive & friendly. I don’t understand the reviews being any less than 5 star. We will recommend Emily’s to anybody looking for breakfast or lunch. Thank you Emily & your staff.

Emily’s Kitchen is probably one of my favorite spots to go to for breakfast or lunch. Emily’s is the only place in the entire world I trust to make cheesecake or even dessert, nothing else compares. Also, Jisaela is hands down my favorite waitress that I’ve ever met. Every time I go, she’s always there to greet me with a hug and a smile and she always talks to me about how I’m doing. Great service, great people, great food.

Very cute place with a great menu. The food is comforting and the soup was amazing! Emily sent out a little sample of a dessert she was working on and I was very impressed. Next time I need a pie for a party I will be placing an order with her.

Cute place, attentive wait staff. I had a great meatloaf sandwich, my friend had a good Caesar salad, and we had incredible German chocolate cake for dessert.

I’ve been there 3 times — because I always give a new(to me) restaurant 3 chances to prove consistency in all the areas important to me: service, atmosphere(cleanliness), and of course, food quality. This place, still a hidden gem in Montgomery Village, Santa Rosa, California, scores high on all counts. The people are amazing, starting with the owner, Emily(who I knew about from her previous dessert business), to the entire staff. The atmosphere is super comfy and cozy, you feel like you are in a friend’s dining room at home. Even the bathroom is fresh and clean as a whistle(makes my germ-phobic heart happy)!! And the food is SO unique — a twist on all my favorite comfort foods, right down to the sauces served with the food, like Thousand Island dressing and Tartar sauce… amazing flavor twists that made my taste buds happy… and my tummy too! Even our 15 yo nephew loved it! From the regular menu items to the specials, this place has become a regular spot for my husband and I — and we can’t wait to go back and let our friends and family know about it. And the best part? Owned and run by a trusted local family. That’s a huge bonus for us, being able to support talented locals who care about their community.

I hesitate writing this review only because 5 star reviews might make it more difficult to find a seat. Emily brings her talent to everything she creates. I love an early breakfast there. The pace does pick up around 9 and you have to be patient. Most of the times I have been there it’s just Emily and her cook and maybe her son. But then I try to go on the quieter side. Definitely gets lively and you never know what she has added to the menu for that day. You can like her on Facebook and see recent creations. Now I think I must go and see if she has any mini carrot cakes left! Thank you Emily for being in the neighborhood!

Extremely cute, quaint place! However, the service was very poor at best. When I say service, I mean the server, Emily? The breakfast was less than ordinary, there was one server, who was obviously in a bad mood today. Every time we asked for something we got an attitude, I was literally intimated by asking for a coffee re-fill. I would not return, or recommend this to anyone that wants to be greeted by someone with a sunny disposition.

Never a dull moment at Emily’s! Yet another pasta creation from Gary! A Greek confection with artichoke, feta cheese, olives, and a sauce the name of which escapes me. This is topped with a perfectly grilled piece of salmon! My Oh My! Just had to leave with a freshly baked loaf of Emily’s Carrot Bread, too! People, it just gets better & better ! She just celebrated one year here in the Village. Many, many more, please!

Great food! Delicious! We stumbled in as it was the only place still serving brunch at 3pm on Sunday and we couldn’t be more pleased. They had run out of pancakes but made us a whole fresh batch of pancakes from scratch! We watched Emily whip up the batter in the back. My omelette was fresh and not too greasy and the corn beef hash was the best we’d ever had.

I hate to give three stars because this place was lovely, but I was somewhat disappointed. I took myself out for brunch basically but you could order something from the breakfast menu or the lunch menu.(Not technically brunch) Ambiance is quaint and chic with vintage wooden chairs and polka dotted tablecloths. Cute place for a date or there are big tables in the back for groups. Outdoor patio also nice when weather permits. I came in here craving something unique because their chalkboard sign outside with specials written on it, drew me in. When I got the menu, it was so basic. Nothing really out of the ordinary: pancakes, eggs, bacon, French toast etc. So I asked for a lunch menu thinking that maybe that was where the specials would be. Nope. I then asked the waitress what the omelet of the day was, which happened to be Swiss cheese, portobello mushrooms, spinach and red onions. It seemed like the most interesting thing on the menu so I got it. It came with hash browns which were amazing! Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, perfectly salted. The omelette was lacking in flavor honestly and the eggs were SO bland. It seemed like they used too many eggs and not enough filling. As I was eating I heard a different waitress telling her table all about the specials. One was a hash with butternut squash and linguica. Two of my favorite things! I felt cheated. I definitely would’ve ordered that if my waitress had given me the choice! My omelette just really didn’t do it for me, but I want to go back and try one of their specials. They have Taylor Maid coffee, which is local and organic and very tasty! If you like cream in your coffee, they give you real thick cream in a cute silver dish. The service was mixed. I had three different people attend to me, but the waitress was not up to par in my opinion(and I am a server myself so I would know). She barely smiled and did not make any effort to converse at all. She also made the mistake of not telling me the specials, which basically tarnished my experience. Maybe she was having an off day, but I expected better. It’s definitely worth checking out though, and next time I go I hope to have a better experience!

I’ve tried this place a couple times now. Once with a few girlfriends and another with a single brunch buddy. I thought maybe with only one other person it would be a different experience. My first go round my girls and I hit it after a run, so we were hungry. We ordered food and coffee. After some time the kitchen comped us free mimosas due to the delay in firing off the food. Ok, everyone was nice and thankful for our patience, so no big deal. My food was delicious(hash with eggs), just slow to hit the table. Fast forward to this past Sunday. We arrive and are immediately told it’ll be a 15 minute delay for food from when it’s ordered, so do we still want to eat there? We weren’t in a rush so we said sure. I ordered the omelette special served with perfectly seasoned and cooked shredded hash browns. My buddy ordered the cinnamon walnut French toast. Both dishes were well cooked and delicious but service was slow as promised and we did receive the trending free mimosa(as far as my experience has been). It’s good food, super friendly service, decent prices, just don’t come if you are starving or in a hurry and you’ll be gold.

Located in the space previously inhabited by Viola’s Bakery, Montgomery Village. The space inside & out on the front patio is homey. Dining room furniture is eclectic Americana antique. Emily served us. A delightful person she is. How often do you see a biz owner serving customers? Refreshing. We were a party of 4 for breakfast. The menu had a dozen choices. Selection is the usual suspects: eggs, bacon, pancakes, French toast, you know the drill. Everyone ordered something different. We shared bites. I ate the All-American plate — Think Denny’s Grand Slam but with much smaller portions. Quality? Good, not great. Certainly better than a franchise chain eatery. My order for 2 eggs over easy was fried solid. French toast was made from Costeaux walnut bread, t’was tasty. Cup of weakly brewed Taylor made coffee = $ 2.95 Price for my plate = $ 11.95. Not a bargain. Return worthy? Not for me.

Emily herself is a statuesque, lovely, sweet person. I love the welcoming smile and her friendly voice each time I arrive at Emily’s Kitchen. The covered patio out front has several tables under the mint green, latticed awning, equipped with overhead heaters if it is a cool morning or evening. Ambiance inside is countryesque and comfortable. Both her breakfast and lunch menus are full, yet simple. I love her«The Hammerin’ Hank» classic fare with eggs(I like mine poached medium well), potatoes, bacon or sausage, and seeded sourdough toast. .. she just does it right by me. She makes a corned beef brisket hash with poached eggs that I love when I need a little meat(yang force). Love all her lunch entrees and sandwiches like tuna salad or grilled cheese(man, I am not a very good vegan). I need to experience her dinners. They look and sound fabulous. What are fabulous are all Emily’s Desserts! Blood Orange Cheesecake, Lavender Cheesecake, all her cheesecakes. .. all her desserts, too many to recall right now. There are about five places I regularly go to breakfast around my new jaunt in Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa now. My favorite is Emily’s because of how welcome the owner Emily makes me feel there. And, of course, I am quite pleased with their fare and service too. In fact, I’m going there today. Big Hugs, my Unilocalamigos! Review 0146

This is a new restaurant so there are a few kinks to work out but they are doing a very nice job so far. Very friendly staff and although the menu is on the small side they execute very well. This could become a several times a month breakfast/brunch spot for us. Definitely worth trying.

Nice place, we chose to sit outside in their comfortable outdoor patio. Was pretty busy, I had to get up and get the waitress to bus our table and take our order. She was very pleasant and nice about it, it looked like only her and the manager were taking lunch orders. The table next to us asked when their food was coming and the waitress quickly apologized, stating how busy they were. Our food took a little bit of time to come as well. However, the waitress gave both of our tables a complimentary piece of their vanilla bean cheesecake. The cheesecake reminded me of a scoup of ice cream, rich, cool on your tongue and very tasty, with a perfect moist graham cracker crust. My Nicoise salad was wonderful. Fresh green beans, red onions, yellow potatoes, sliced hard boiled eggs, moist savory tuna and kalmeta olives, all on two crisp leaves of butter lettuce. Not only was I enjoying the weather, I felt as though the season of spring itself was on my plate, lively and warm. Would definitely recommend this salad. My wife enjoyed her fish sandwich, but wasn’t wowed by it, seemed dry, and could’ve used some more aioli. Great place to eat in the sunshine.

Amazing food! Great value and *quality* ingredients! The patio was a lovely place to nosh. Their corned beef hash and breakfast sandwich were divine! We tried to wait, to take a picture… but we couldn’t.(The sandwich called to us)! Friendly and quick service! We’ll definitely be back again.

I used to love Viola’s, which was the predecessor of Emily’s Kitchen. Their baked goods were incredible, great attention to detail, and an ever-changing and notably foodie menu(ie salted caramel pots de crème? YES!), so I knew whatever took over their old home would need to step up to the plate and deliver. Emily’s hasn’t changed much in the kitchen setup, but the dining area is considerably more eclectic, and funky, with mismatched chairs and interestingly kitchy colours. The menu for breakfast was full of the key players, eggs, French toast, bacon, etc. What caught my eye, however, was the Buttermilk Ricotta Pancakes. Interesting combination, and it was an interesting and satisfying taste, although I tasted/felt no ricotta, so I’m not sure where that was. Ordered a side of ham, which was a little overcooked, and pre-sliced which was weird but tasted ok. Dad ordered the special which was a Bacon, Scallion, and Swiss omelette, which was quite petite, and came with some hash browns. He was neutral to positive about it, but it looked a little boring to me. The big surprise was the baked goods. When we arrived, we had to walk past the pastry case, and we both immediately gravitated to their wares and momentarily forgot about breakfast. We ordered the Meyer Lemon«Brownie,» which was like a cross between a lemon bar and a blondie, but a little too sweet for my tastes. The winner of the adventure was the Carrot Cake. An unassuming sphere of mottled brown, this vegetable containing dessert blew my socks off! It was perfectly spicy, soft and chewy, with surprising additions of flaked coconut and juicy pieces of pineapple! It was decadently frosted with what I think was a cinnamon cream cheese, and it could have been a meal in itself. We said only half jokingly that we had wished we had both just ordered our own of this delightful dessert and skipped breakfast. Service was poor, they had very few people there and it still took my dad about 40 minutes to get his coffee. That said, the staff were very friendly and nice, and the food, once it got to you, was pretty ok. Prices are astoundingly low, which I chalked up to them just trying to get established and get the word out. I hope they kick it into high gear, given their epic location and built in customer base, but I have a feeling it’s going to take some time. Now excuse me while I go stuff my face with another cake. It has carrots, right, so can’t I claim it as actually a salad?
