I have to start off with I love this place but today was just not great. Mainly our server was not very polite. We ordered the spinach salad and it only came with 2 pieces of shrimp and we said something and his comment back was rude. My salad was suppose to come with blue cheese and they didn’t putt it on there and I wanted to say something but I knew the server was just annoyed anyway. Lastly as my mom and aunt paid the bill in cash and left a tip, the server come up to me as I am walking my 8 month old son and touches my shoulder and tells me my mom and aunt didn’t leave a tip. How f’n rude is that, you don’t do that! I don’t know if it is because they are foreigners or he didn’t like that we lefts 15% but he didn’t deserve more than that

Bottom line: Come for happy hour. They have great drinks. Eat the steak and avoid the fish. Expect a lot of hustle bustle and you will be okay. Monti’s. A good retro-name for a restaurant that is the quintessential American fare and ambiance. Sturdy chairs that will support in excess of 400 pounds and no-nonsense tables with thick fir planks with a nice finish. A low ceiling with a centrally located bar with a seemingly endless array of bottles. There’s an excitement when walking into this place. Will they have a chair for me to sit in? Can I have a drink from each one of the bottles at the bar? Will they make me eat outside in the cold? Our party of 8 adults and 3 children had a pre-ordered table ready for us when we arrived. No carpet, so the place was loud with people talking and the gentle clatter of plates. It was Saturday around 7:30. Can you imagine the anxiety at our table as the server came by to let us know there were only 3 of the duck breast specials and all of us wanted duck breast? «Oh, I’ll have the roasted chicken, you eat the duck breast…». We all ordered drinks. I wanted a Boulevardier but have not yet mastered the elocution of that word. The closest I can come to that is «boulevard» — so I ordered a Negroni which rolls off my lips like melted butter. I love the way that some waiters are able to repeat back the order: «Negroni! Very good.» with such an inflection and cadence to imply that I’ve just guessed the magic number and have won the contest — but that information is for my ears only. The Negroni was delicious with a generous and perfectly sliced orange peel to garnish this beautiful drink. We were all so relieved when the waiter formally announced that the duck special was depleted so we did not have to deal with the anxiety of «who gets the duck». Three of us had the steak, two had the roasted chicken, one mushroom pizza, two hamburgers, a plate of sole and the baby drank mother’s milk. I enjoyed my steak. It was perfectly cooked, tender and tasty. It rested in three slices on a bed of parsnips. I love parsnips. It was a good meal. Everyone who had the steak was happy. The two roasted chicken dinners were well received also, but the sole tasted«old» and was a disappointment. The hamburgers had large patties of meat on equally large buns. They looked good, but rather comical in the hands of these little girls. The burgers looked even larger in their small hands. What do I think of Monti’s? Come for happy hour. They have great drinks. Eat the steak and avoid the fish. Expect a lot of hustle bustle and you will be okay.

Love the food here! Best Reuben I’ve ever had. Calamari is solid, with fried thinly sliced lemon and a good sauce. Pizza with prosciutto, asparagus and fried egg was delicious! Cesar salad cold and creamy with golden croutons. Free bread was amazing too. Awesome bloody marry. Sat has live music. A+!! Try wood oven goat if u go on the night they serve it.

I have been going to Monti’s for almost 10 years. My family and I keep coming back, for it is so close to our shopping. Unfortunately, I had another bad experience. The warm spinach salad with rock shrimp, came out in less then 10 mins on a busy friday, I hadn’t even got my bread yet. The shrimp were raw and off tasting, I spit it out and sent it back very disappointing. We seem to have good food every other time, we come in. How inconsistent, and unfortunate

On of those classic Sonoma County favorites! Great afternoon or evening, lunch, dinner, drinks, whatever. The food is always scrumptious, and service impeccable.

Visited Monti’s late Tuesday afternoon for their Happy Hour and an early dinner. Happy Hour at Monti’s runs from 3:00 to 6:00 without restrictions, sit at the bar, table, wherever you would like. Good selection of bar bites and small plates, we had the CHICKENMEATBALLSLIDERSWITHTZATZIK along with the HUMMUSWITHFLATBREAD. Both were tasty and perfect for sharing. Also each had a glass of 2013CASTELVEROBARBERA which was the red wine special. For entrees we each had the Tuesday Rotisserie special POMEGRANATEGLAZEDNIMANRANCHST. LOUISSPARERIBS with JULYAS’ WINEKRAUT. I really like Texas and Carolina style BBQ but sometimes a nice sweet — sour fruit glaze hits the spot and that is what these did, Very tender but not«fall off the bone», they were cooked perfectly and the kraut was excellent. Very enjoyable meal. Had not been to Monti’s for a couple years but will not make that mistake again :). PS: Their location inside Montgomery Village is a natural«meeting place». We had a relatively early dinner but people kept coming in and I bet that it fills up quickly.

Ok short and sweet. I have heard about Monti’s… well for about Forever! Always seemed a rather upscale establishment that would appeal to the retirement community. That being said — here’s my review for Today’s Easter Brunch — «Best Brunch, Best Service Ever!» We’ll be back!

Always a great stand by place to go for lunch or dinner. Delicious food everything. The only thing that we are not happy about is who thought it was a smart move to take the pot de crème off the menu. It’s been years and it’s still not back. Bring it back already!

Monti’s is a Stark’s restaurant and therefore is consistent and professionally managed. Monti’s has been in this location a long time but recently went through a well thought out re-model which makes you say: «Whoa, I’m in Portland!» The bar and drinks are generous and coming here for a drink and a bite is always a pleasure. All their waitstaff are great and take very good care of you. We had dinner for four people. Plenty of choices. The rotisserie was serving crispy duck(different meat each evening) which was perfection and another diner ordered pork shoulder – the portion was huge. Myself and a friend had the quiche and they do that very well, BUT you can only get it until 5PM(huh?) so we had to special request it from the kitchen but it was darn close to 5 anyway. Dessert and after dinner drinks followed. You can have a very good dining experience here especially if you stay close to the rotisserie offering. However, seems like the menu doesn’t change much from year to year. I’d like to see Monti’s offer some nightly specials in addition to the rotisserie item to mix things up a bit!

We came in for dinner a few nights ago. Sat at the bar. Our bartender/server was fantastic! Soup of the day was the most amazing cream of mushroom with truffle oil. We split the mushroom pizza. It was good, but their was a lemon flavor to it that kind of over powered everything else. The crust was great, but the mushroom flavor was not forward enough for my taste. The mushroom flavor was a bit too subdued… Not like my favorite mushroom pizza at Jackson’s where the mushroom flavor is the star, and all the other ingredients are just there to compliment the mushroom flavors. I feel if you are going to do a mushroom pizza that the style in which Jackson’s does theirs is the way it should be done. I subtracted a star, because to be 5 star, I think this pizza needs to under go some reconsideration. We also split the brussel sprouts which were extraordinarily delicious! Dessert was stellar, very glad we chose to indulge. She got the vanilla crème brûlée, and I got the apple crisp. With bourbon called Blanton’s. The two made quite the pair. This was my second or third visit to Monti’s, and far more memorable than the previous times. I would recommend giving em a try…

I figured I’d wait until I had been to Monti’s a few times before writing a review, seeing as there are mixed reviews here on Unilocal. After a couple of visits to Monti’s, I can safely say that I’m happy with their menu and have been pleased with the service and quality of the food they put out. I’ve been seated outside and inside, and given the choice, I’d sit outside when the weather permits. It gets a tad noisy inside, but the restaurant itself is quite nice. The staff has been friendly with me every time I’ve called or dined there, even on busy nights when they seem slammed and overwhelmed. Definitely make reservations if you want to ensure a spot for dinner. They’ve got a nice wine list to chose from. I usually bring a bottle along but their selection is okay. Their cocktails list is fun too. They have a cocktail that has tequila, grapefruit and jalapeño in it(I think it’s called The Diablo) and it’s so spicy that it was almost undrinkable… and my man and I can really take the heat. We also tried The Bandit, which is their other cocktail that has tequila in it, and it came in the world’s tiniest glass filled with ice, so it was literally a one-sip-n-done kind of cocktail… for $ 11.00 mind you. Our waitress asked if we liked that one more than the Diablo, to which we giggled and said that yes, our one sip was more satisfying than the other cocktail, although we wished for a drink that was more than a single gulp. The first time I had been to Monti’s they had The Bee Keeper cocktail(I think that’s what it was called) that was incredible, but no longer on the cocktail menu unfortunately. After trying a few cocktails on their list, we decided to order a couple of margaritas on the rocks. We were happiest with those, rather than the fancier drink options. The food is great. There’s nothing that I’ve tried that I did not like. So far, I’ve tasted the mac-n-cheese, the beet salad, exotic mushroom pizza, calamari, pappardelle pasta with lamb, Brussels sprouts w/pear and chorizo, smoked salmon rillette, crab deviled eggs and the burrata cheese plate. It’s hard to chose a favorite of those I listed, they were all very good. The salmon rillette was probably my least favorite as it lacked salmon, and all we could taste was the crème friache it was served with, no smoked salmon flavor at all. The calamari really stood out because they fry up some lemon slices and onion hunks to throw into the bowl with the calamari, and I just love that added touch of awesomeness. If you haven’t tried a fried lemon slice, you’re missing out. The mac-n-cheese is to die for, and the exotic mushroom pizza is divine and a must try, same with the burrata. I’d love to try some of the larger plates sometime, or their nightly specials off the grill/BBQ, because they all look so good. It’s hard to go to a tapas spot and not order small plates though. Next time I go to Monti’s, I’ll check out what else they have to offer. And, assuming my experiences there continue to be great, I’ll keep coming back.

For the wife and I Monti’s is a known commodity. They rarely make changes to the menu and it is consistently decent. I’ve never walked out thinking«damn that was good!» but they do a solid job nonetheless. I would love to see a shakeup at this restaurant to change the menu more often and go a bit more contemporary. We pass up Monti’s a lot as a dining choice because it’s so predictable. Staff is always pleasant and responsive. It’s a solid 3.

Been coming here a long time but this update is based on my last few visits. Bottom line… something has changed at Monti’s. It started a few months ago when I noticed the crab stuffed eggs were a little more egg and a LOT less crab. The Monte Cristo also seems to be suffering from a little too much(IMHO) portion control as some sections have almost no ham and the bread seems to be toasted rather than egg-washed(and then fried) as in the past. The Truffle French Fries were unevenly cut and on my last three visits they were lukewarm and a bit droopy with excess oil. On this most recent visit the basic house salad was severely over-dressed and my Pappardelle with Lamb and Mint was served in a salad bowl(??) and, as far as I could tell, was completely devoid of any mint To be fair, on this most recent visit they were closing early(for some cleaning) and you could just tell it was an off night. I will continue to stop by for a beverage and the occasional flatbread pizza, but I’m afraid that’s about it. The trend of late is what one reviewer referred to as «consistently inconsistent» and based on my experience, I would have to agree.

I Love this place! So why 3 Stars — that’s way out of line right? The reason is they are consistently inconsistent. I’ve been here many times — it’s one of my go to places for a nice meal, good vino, and decent service. So me and a friend went recently and the service was decent. The guy seemed ‘new’ but better than some I’ve had. One time I was here and tasted 3 wines — the waitress came back to our table after buying several glasses I wanted to try something else and she said I had tried the Max amount of wines I was allowed to taste? I almost always buy a bottle or at least 6 glasses between friends! She said the management denied my request to taste a 4th wine — WOW. Ok so that was 6 months ago. This most recent time we ordered mussels with a romesco sauce — it’s was okay. A whole lot of tiny mussels and the sauce was weak, but good enough. There whites by the glass they don’t have one white wine that is off dry or has some character to it. There are 2 Chards — both decent, a Pinot Gris, and a German Riesling and neither of these wines has any character besides being a lean dry style wine — you have already filled that requirement with the other whites how about a Viognier, Gewürztraminer or buy a German or Pinot Gris that isn’t bone dry. That’s on the buyer obviously — that’s what they like so that what they buy. They have a Tokay Frulano that has very little flavor and no acidity. I’m not that picky — really. Wines by the glass should cover a basic spectrum — lean dry with acidity, something with fruit like stone fruit, a Chardonnay or 2, and something off dry aka slightly sweet like a typical German, Chenin Blanc, or typical Pinot Gris. My friend ordered the prime rib special which came out as an enormous hunk of meat — ended up being very flabby with no seasoning and this was an End Cut. I ordered the Niman Ranch Pork Shoulder Chop Crispy Potato Salad Bacon onion marmalade — Sounds delicious right, for $ 23 bucks. Reasonable. I wish I took a picture — it was odd, looked more like a pounded down piece of meat — literally ¼ of an inch thin(can’t even say thick). There a chop and this was no chop. It taste okay — nothing wonderful about it at all. The best part of the meal was a bottle of Parador Red Wine 2006 — that I brought in and it was phenomenal. Then we sat at the bar for a last cocktail — Judd had no personality, maybe it was his time to go home or maybe they need to hire people with personalities. The bartender ought to be able to greet people with some semblance of a welcoming attitude. I’m going to keep going back here even though it’s sometimes disappointing depending on the staff. I have had some exceptional dining experiences here and have to raise this to 4 stars. The good ones outweigh the slacker times.

I’ve always liked coming here. The atmosphere and lighting is always perfect. There is an outdoor patio which is awesome for warm weather dining– there aren’t enough of those in Santa Rosa. Wine list covers everything with a lot of local wines. The food is a little pricey, but I’m never disappointed. I love their steamed mussels– and the cheese plate is better than any other.

Being a long time fan of the Stark owned restaurants, I have to say that this is my least favorite of them all. I’ve gone here for lunch and dinner and had mediocre experiences during both meals. Recently I went for dinner and we were seated immediately which was great. While the restaurant was slightly busy for a Friday night the wait to get some water, cocktails and bread seemed to take longer than it should. We started to look around and see if we could flag down a waiter to at least get some water and couldn’t really see any servers. I figured they were understaffed so it wasn’t a huge deal. The calamari(Stark’s steakhouse is better), salmon rillettes and duck liver mousse were very delicious and the cocktails were also very good once they arrived. I do, however, think it’s a little ridiculous to charge 1 $ more for another small portion of toasted bread for the salmon and duck spreads for a table of 6. The waitress was very nice and accommodating and answered all of our questions with a warm smile. She was attentive about refilling our wine and checking on us throughout the evening. Overall the staff was very friendly! Our main courses were decent. Nothing to write home about. At Starks steakhouse, Willi’s Wine Bar and Willi’s Seafood bar I’ve literally«MMMM“ed out loud but here it wasn’t as much of an explosion of flavors like the other restaurants. Two people from my table were able to grab the last 2 specials but we were slightly shocked to find out that by 7:45 they were already out of their well known rotisserie dinners. Those specials came out cold and the waitress was great about taking them back and making them hot. Once they came back they tasted great. I’m not sure I’ll be back unless I’m in the area and come for drinks and appetizers. I’ll probably choose one of the other Stark restaurants instead.

Nice ambience, dimly lit and they have a fire during the winter. If you go during the summer, the outside /patio seating is nice(if it is not already full!) Make reservations if you can. They are often full(inside and out), even on week nights. If you do not make reservations, you can sit at the bar or at the long«community table» which is not bad but not as intimate as the tables. It is a very meat-heavy menu, with a lot of roasted meats, plus salads and pizzas. Since I am not a big meat-eater, I almost always get a salad. Their burgers are good, if a bit spendy(about $ 13, including blue cheese, green salsa and bacon, but do not come with fries or salad unless you order it on the side). They have three beers on tap, one of which is usually Pabst Blue Ribbon, a good wine list, a reasonable selection of gin and vodka and nice selection of brown liquors. I particularly like the Hangar One orange peel vodka made in a martini.

This a reliably good restaurant. Service has been great and always efficient. My water glass is always refilled before I even notice it needs to be! That attention to detail does not exist at many restaurants. I’ve been here for dinner a few times and happy hour more than that. Happy hour is great with $ 6 cocktails, $ 5 wines by the glass, and appetizers for $ 1.50 or $ 3.50. It is definitely comparable to one of its sister restaurants, Stark’s, which is one of the most popular happy hour spots in the area! Monti’s is less packed-feeling, where you are able to enjoy the outdoor patio(though I know that Stark’s draws many with the $ 4 martinis!). Dinner is good as well. I usually have started off with a cheese platter, where you get to choose from a selection of great, local cheeses. Sometimes we have had another appetizer as well. I have had the steak and the salmon as entrees. Both were very good, but I think the steak is exceptional, and will probably have that next time I go there for dinner.

Monti’s is not one of my favourites but it is conveniently located in Montgomery Village and has a gluten free menu. I always appreciate the effort to help all diners feel included. I have eaten here several times; I think the small bites and bar are the best feature though. The burrata with olives and gluten free toast crackers was a star during one of my last meals. It tasted like they make the crackers in house — delicious. Bloody marys are solid and pack a punch. Margaritas dont use any mixers, which is how a margarita should be made. If you are shopping in the area and get thirsty it is a great spot to stop to have a drink and a nibble.
