I am told that this is where it all began for this growing SoCal chain. Counter service with outside tables in beautiful Santa Barbara.Simplicity. What’s not to like. The burgers here are in my view every bit as good as in and out, and with the benefit of this beautiful place instead of my car. The combos are similar to in and out, their version of a double double, fries and drink.great.and you can add bacon or eliminate the cheese, buns toasted. There are stores all around SoCal so check them out…

The habit in downtown SB, is a convenient place to eat. The menu has your traditional choices. I’d recommend the Tri-​Tip Sandwich, Chicken Club, Santa Barbara Cobb salad. This location has outdoor seating only, and on weekends, can take a while to find a place to sit. Lines can also get long– but in SB, this is common in downtown area. Good place to have a quick bite when restaurant isn’t feasible. The food is always made fresh, and fries/​burgers are delicious.

Great So. Cal. tradition, up there with In-​n-​Out. Not quite as tasty as In-​n-​Out but a good locals spot. Everything was great, fresh sodas, killer malts, hot and fresh frys. My only issue are the buns. They are not soft and smushy like a fresh in/​out or 5guys. Now The Habit toasts their buns, but these taste like they have been sitting in a package for a week or so. Maybe I got a bad batch?
I will be back, They do an overall great job. You wanna feel like a So.Cal. local? Eat here! You’ll love it!

This is a great place for dinner and lunch. Always a stop by on our way through town and get a great burger whether it’s beef fish or chicken or grilled cheese it’s always good!!!(as written by my 8 year old son lol)

I like the other locations better. Although this place is good for people watching on State street, I didn’t enjoy the burger as much. Ordered the teriyaki charbroil, no cheese. Was too saucy and hence, too salty. I don’t like when my burger drips that much. The strawberry shake was good enough.
They give you a wait buzzer for when your food is ready at the pickup window. They don’t have napkins and pickled peppers out like the other locations… Maybe of the high foot traffic and homeless situations.
The good thing is the parking garage is right there, very convenient.

Basically the In-​N-​Out of SB, their menu is pretty simple so if you’re craving a good ol’ burger this can definitely be your fix!
We came on a Sunday early afternoon and it was pretty poppin’ so the outdoor seating was a hot commodity. Turnaround is pretty fast though so eventually you’ll get a seat.
We got the teriyaki burger and fries, though the burger was very tasty it needed more of the teriyaki sauce (at first I thought they gave us the wrong order due to lack of sauce ha). Fries were standard good.
We didn’t realize until after we ordered, but apparently they had fish burgers (albacore I think) as well which I want to try next time. Great place to stop by and grab a quick, delicious bite before shopping or early bar-​hopping in SB. Apparently this burger joint is popular amongst local college students.

This is one of my favorite places to eat! They have something for every type of person or whatever mood you’re in. The burgers are great, the chicken club is just as good, along with the albacore sandwich. You can’t go wrong with either the regular fries, the sweet potato fries, onion rings or get a half & half order of your choice. The service is always friendly and quick! Just be sure to be patient for a seat because they are limited!

Yummy burgers and the prices are amazing for being on State Street in Santa Barbara.
My daughter got the grilled ck caesar salad with Teriyaki chicken. It was huge and she really enjoyed it.

The burgers were fresh, the bun was just the run of the mill sesame seed variety.

You HAVE to try the onion rings!
Will def. be back.

A great burger.
Great fries.
A great milkshake or malt.
Burger, fries and a shake.
This place is really inexpensive.
The burgers at The Habit are simple with clean flavors. The fries and onion rings are perfectly greasy and full of flavor. The milkshakes are tasty and large.
It’s street side, large groups of students but also families here on a late Sunday afternoon. it’s got a great vibe and lots of character for a burger joint. It’s purely American. I do love a tasty burger.

Solid burgers, including the veggie burgers. We stopped here before a night out in SB and it was a great place to fuel up! The Habit is reasonably priced with pretty generous portions. Seating is outdoors, and about as casual as you can get.
The charburger looked fantastic although I opted for the veggie burger– it was flavorful and not the least bit dry. I also strongly recommend the onion rings and sweet potato fries– both were hot, crisp, and hit the spot!

So rarely do I give a fast food restaurant five stars, and perhaps it doesn’t deserve it. But the first thing I crave when returning from out of town, especially from overseas, is their charburger. And the smell and vibe of this location is one of my favorite things about it.
I have wandered from the hamburger menu, and the other sandwiches are all decent, although not off priced as nicely as the beef.

It has great seating on the sidewalk patio and and a walk up window… the burgers are always great. My fav is of course the grilled chicken caesar. :)
I have heard they have killer coffee shakes, who doesn’t like coffee shakes?
After your burger nosh, you can take a walk about and window shop. It’s a great neighborhood! ;)

This was a great find while walking around the town. My mom and I found it while we were here for a day stop on a California coastal cruise. It was definitely better than the food on the boat! I had a Cobb salad and she had a tuna sandwich. The salad was large and had great toppings.
